Most men from my era can certainly relate to this song. This is a great song.
This song means more as you get older. Seger takes you on a journey through his songs, with soul and grit. He has a deep catalog, keepem coming.
20 years comes awful fast
One of the hardest things in life is an old man remembering what it’s like to be young
Your face said it all, same face we had In 1986 when it dropped, means a lot more now at 63, more true as the years go by
this song was all over the tv in the early 90s as chevy truck commercial
Bob has lots of songs that will take you back. Do more Bob, can't go wrong with he's songs.
As others have said, you can hear the song many times but the meaning only hits you in the gut later in life. It hits at different ages but I remember when I listened to it and "got it", and I broke down. "Carrying the weight" is the line that hits me hardest.
Can't help but smile...Seger is a deep rabbit hole...his old stuff rocks pretty hard..to tunes like this...
feel like a number, roll me away, come to poppa, her strut
Great reaction. I love Bob Segar! You can't go wrong with any of his songs.
Like many say and have said, this song hits harder with age, but still brings a reflective smile.
He's got tons of hits, my personal favorites (besides this one) are Turn the Page and Against the Wind.
I’m 55 and this song does its job on me. Takes me back in time and makes me wonder where it all went so fast. Nostalgia off the charts to me.
58 here. Absofreakinlutely
63…..same here brother.
Roll me Away next please!!
Chevy used this song for about 20 years for their truck commercials. Probably the best use of a modern song in advertising. Certainly the most memorable.
wow really?
I wished he had never let them use this as a Truck Commercial song....dimensioned the gravity of it. I'm sure Bob some $$$! Good for him though. Classic American music.
Exactly. It’s like a bumper sticker of the Mona Lisa. Degraded a masterpiece.
I like your energy. Decided to subscribe.
