This was my daddy's song. This was his anthem. He was our rock. And he would crank up this song and for whatever it was, it was who he was inside and how he felt. He was and old-school real man's man, a grease monkey, a sports fan, a military veteran, and an all around handy man. And he was my best friend. We played this song at his funeral accompanied by all the pictures we could find. I cannot hear this song without thinking of him and getting extremely emotional. took a while to compose myself - loved seeing BJ feel this song in his soul. I could feel my daddy here watching this with me and moving the same way. gaddam i miss him so much.
@@WaterWhirld Yes but he’s still not considered to be one of the great songwriters by most people. He doesn’t get the same respect as Springsteen or say a John Fogerty. I blame it on a certain critical and popular bias against Bob’s blue collar appeal. I think his midwestern roots which instruct his writing is not perceived to be as important as Springsteen’s portraits of the lament of people left behind by de industrialization or Fogerty’s faux down home American roots inspired sound. But Bob wrote such well crafted and honest songs. Really elegant writing similar to a young Paul Simon in an almost conversational style. And Bob unlike many songwriting peers matured so well and continued to write great songs about growing older like no one else. So for all of his accolades I think that he is under appreciated as a writer perhaps not as a performer.
This song has soooo much meaning behind the lyrics. I'm 58 and I truly understand exactly what he was saying in this song. Sad part is ... you'll not understand until age hits you. If your blessed to live long enough.. one day you will comprehend the meaning.
Wait til you get in your 50's. You'll look back on life and hear these lyrics and get chills and a few tears at the same time. When this song came out I was 16 and didn't relate. 39 years later, OMG. This song is singing my life. Thx Asia and BJ. Check out "Roll me Away" by Seger. You will be rewarded.
Same here. I was 16 in ‘86 too and it was just a song then. A good one, but just a song. Now, I’m 54 and wow. Just wow. Where’d the time go? Makes me wish I was a rock again.
No one paints a musical picture like Bob Seger in his distinctive voice... biggest hit is probably 'Night Moves', a personal favourite is 'Main Street'... everyone has a favourite Seger song that touches them.
Truer words are rarely spoken. I was sitting here reliving this song with them, but I found myself hearing it for the first time again. I have loved this song, but with age, it becomes a whole new song.
Yes sir...them words kinda gut punch me when I hear references to aging and such now...lol. I am 57 now and listening to "Time" by Pink Floyd now is just as amazing as it was when I was a young teen, but now I get emotional when I really take in the words and their deep meanings....but gotta love all our wonderful artists we were so blessed to take for granted growing up !!!
Bob Seger is an American treasure. He is brilliant. “Turn the Page” and “Against the Wind” are both great places to start. His catalogue is huge and he didn’t make any bad songs. Nice reaction🌺✌️
In my teens Seger was on the radio all the time and I bought all his albums and still have them today. Conceived my 3 child with his music but not only that my husband look just like him back in the days with his long hair and beard...was with him 45 years until his passing.
I swear the older I get, the more I relate to his music. Being from Michigan, I’ve always been a fan. Just as you age his songs just hit me differently.
Seger and Springsteen had a Concert in my home town 2 miles from where I grew up, Highland Michigan at a place called M -59 west back in 2016 and I missed it 😢 !
This is one of those songs that take on different meanings the older you get. I remember working when I was 16 listening to this and it was a young man's anthem about being young with your whole life ahead of you. I'm now 58 and you start paying attention to the part that is the old man's lament over youth lost. One of the greatest songs of all time.
Write all his songs in different scraps of paper, tape them on the wall, throw a dart at them, and play the one it sticks to. You won't be disappointed all of them are greatness.🔥🤘
One of Seger's best. Shame On The Moon is another great track from Seger. Chevy sold alot of trucks with this song..Basicly this song is about an older man looking back and reflecting on the years when he was a young man.
LOVE Bob Seger! My favorite from him is "Against The Wind". So many amazing songs like this you all could react to. I was just a child in the 80's, but I remember some of these songs. Music had so much soul in those days. Rock music like this pretty much faded away. Country turned mostly into pop music. I don't believe we'll ever see this type of talent again.
“I stood proud, I stood tall High above it all I still believed in my dreams” Wishing that proud strong feeling to everyone. Still believe in your dreams. ✌🏼
I've seen this reaction several times, Bob Seger is the man! I totally crack up every time I see Asia's face when she first recognizes the song and looks at BJ, love it!!!
Bob Seger is a master at creating music that everyone with a heartbeat can feel and relate to...I have loved his music since the moment I listened to his live album, "Live Bullet" back in 1976...The icing on the cake is that his live shows are heaven on earth. Along with Bruce Springsteen, he is at the very top of the list of iconic storytellers in rock n roll history....
Bob Seger has been my favorite artist since 1975, and it make me soooo happy to see you experience this amazing artist. Keep spreading the beautiful music, thank you! You two are great 👍
I guarantee that you will LOVE any Bob Seger songs that you listen to. Bob is a Legend!! Absolutely amazing!!!I have been a fan for over 50 years, and have been to at least 35 of his concerts. Bob is a master whether it's a recording or live and he never disappoints!! So happy to see that you love him too.
That was a phenomenal video. He told a story we can ALL relate to and keeps us riveted to every word. I saw Seger two nights in a row on his Against the Wind tour at the Meadowlands Arena in NJ then at Madison Square Garden the next night. Front row center both nights. Seger was a fantastic live performer. Raw, true, sharp and accurate to the recorded songs and always on point.
This song is a masterpiece. No one evokes the feelings of lost youth like Bob. 35 years later and this is the only song that makes me tear up EVERY TIME. Yeah, I'm over 55.....
Seger has made a few songs about life and aging and how quickly years pass, including Like A Rock, which describes him as a young man with a hard body and in shape to getting older.Plus the guitar is amazing in this song.Bob has soul in that marvelous voice that makes him so unique.
Dude is a master storyteller with his music and his voice. monster influence on so many artists. Legend. Great reaction to one of the most unique, identifiable voices ever.
This was my Pop's favorite singer hands down. He loved old timey rock n roll the most. Y'all really brought him back to me for a minute. I love the channel keep those reactions coming. I always smile or laugh when Y'all post. Thank you
One of the ironic things of this song is the line, “twenty years now, where’d they go? Twenty years, I don’t know. I sit and I wonder sometimes, where they’ve gone” This song was release 35 years ago…so the 20 years he’s singing about is now over 50 years ago😳
When I sing along with it I sing 47 years and go up each year. This album came out during my last of 10 years in the Navy and it brings me back to those days, I was 28 when it came out., but I still felt like a rock, now the rock is covered with moss.
@@M63Tod you can still have your honor, integrity, your purpose..our damn bodies don't work the same lol. I loooove Bob but the thing that takes this song to the next level is Rick Vito's amazing slide guitar. Bob said it was the most incredible overdub he ever heard when Rick played that solo over the track. Legendary!
Even as late as 1986 Bob Seger's musical story telling was connecting teenage rock n rollers with their adult kindred. I was 23 and he was looking back to 1966 in a way that made me so terribly want to share that time with him.
Check out "Shame on the Moon" or "Against the Wind" they are classics, but you could just look through his greatest hits albums and pick one, he has so many great songs.

If you ever get a chance to go to a Bob concert , go…. It’s amazing . The entire audience will sing ever song word for word . I seen Uncle Bob for the first time in 1983 @ the speedway jam In Toledo Ohio. Been a fan ever since .
When music was music. 🎺🎼🎹🥁🎸🎷🎧 Night moves, Main Street , turn the page, come to papa, Hollywood nights, the fire down below, Her strut. Just a few from a looong catalog.

He has so many to choose from I see lots listed already. Bob is someone who was always on the radio when I was growing up. He is a rock star and is still rocking. He just put out a new album.
Or "20 years where'd they go, 20 years I don't know". The years just fly by. You're young; solid, strong, and looking better than ever. Then whew where'd they go? 18-38. But 30s was the best age for me. 😊
I grew up in the 60s and 70s with the best Rock , Southern Rock , Country , Blues and Soul music ever performed! Real artist performing what they had lived out . I've waited decades for artists to improve on it but only a small number of artists have come through on it. I'm glad to see younger people finding, listening and enjoying so much of what we had and what we took for granted at the time.
Great song. He wrote & recorded a lot of them. Night Moves is perfect song, nostalgic and wistful like this one. Lots of great rockers on Live Bullet (Get Out of Denver, Katmandu, Nutbush City ...). Come to Poppa is great groove song too.
Every song listed would be a wonderful start. Enjoy the ride it will just get better. He was fabulous in concert I got to see his " Against the Wind" tour in Houston. Now all those concerts in my younger years are blessings. Enjoy
I'll be 59 in 3 weeks, and I still feel 18 in my head! This song has been a favorite of mine for 35 yrs! Where'd they go? You need to do "Against the Wind"! My fave Seger song!

Bob Seger's catalog is epic. He is a rock ICON! I Saw him in the early 80's and I saw him again 2 years ago, he was just as good now as he was back then!!!
What I like about you guys is that you play off each other REALLY well!! Usually though, it's BJ being "analytical" while Asia "gets it". This time I could tell BJ caught the "feels". Also, you guys just plain look good together...
Bob Seger has a huge song catalog. You need to visit him. I knew y’all were going to recognize it when the chorus kicked in!! It is a chevy, built ram tough! 😂😂 Turn The Page and Roll Me Away are his best songs in my opinion.
"Charging from the gate" is a reference to when Bob Seger ran track in school. Yes Bob Seger was a track star in school. After school he turned the 2nd thing he loved , music. He was influenced by many Motown artist and blues singers. Bob is my favorite because he has soul and rhythm. His collection of great songs is deep. 30+
The iconic Mr Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. Like a rock. Yes. Before he drove across the tracks alone he said, “I can see myself again.” Mr Seger taught me some things about myself as I was growing up. It’s great to see you youngsters enjoying the music of my youth. We all wear different earth suits in this life, but the challenge and the struggle is pretty much the same. Stand strong. Stay humble. Love our neighbors. Expect good. Do good unto others. Reach for our dreams. Yep. Like a rock… peace.

This song absolutely kills me every time. At 69, my days of being "like a rock" are long, long gone. So many years gone by...
I understand just like the boys of Summer always looking back in the rearview mirror
Those days are gone but the memories of those days are as solid as a rock AMEN
20 years now where did they go 20 years I don’t know. At 61 you could put a 40 instead of 20 . Love Bob Seger
Yeah buddy....gone in a blink...
But but but remember the end “I see myself again….. Like a rock”

@@DrPaul-xf4no He did it at the Kennedy Center honors for the Eagles. It was great to watch him just enjoy himself. They (Eagles)did background on Fire Lake.
He and Glenn went way back as friends. On Ramblin Gamblin Man, you can pick out a young Glenn's voice in the background.
@@wandaminter9421 did not know that about the Eagles and Fire Lake. Thank you. I really like the musical reactions and discussions on here. 🤘
He has so many to choose from I see lots listed already. Bob is someone who was always on the radio when I was growing up. He is a rock star and is still rocking. He just put out a new album.
This guy had so many hits, and is not as big as he should be.
Or "20 years where'd they go, 20 years I don't know". The years just fly by. You're young; solid, strong, and looking better than ever. Then whew where'd they go? 18-38. But 30s was the best age for me. 😊
it doesn't get any better than this! a masterpiece!
Bob has been in my life since I was 7, 50 years later he is still my number 1 and my playlist has about 50 songs of his. Please listen to

I always cry when I hear this, I’m 60 years old now and the memories just come flooding in every time I hear this song, youth is fleeting
Bob Seger's catalog is epic. He is a rock ICON! I Saw him in the early 80's and I saw him again 2 years ago,
he was just as good now as he was back then!!!
What I like about you guys is that you play off each other REALLY well!! Usually though, it's BJ being "analytical" while Asia "gets it". This time I could tell BJ caught the "feels". Also, you guys just plain look good together...
Great song and the video fits perfectly. Guitar player with the slide was insanely good.
It's just beautiful magical ✨ can't go wrong with any of his songs
Love y'all. Bob's got tons of great music for y'all to hear
Bob Seger has a huge song catalog. You need to visit him. I knew y’all were going to recognize it when the chorus kicked in!! It is a chevy, built ram tough! 😂😂 Turn The Page and Roll Me Away are his best songs in my opinion.
love roll me away. Turn the page is legandary. I also love we've got tonight and mainstreet.
Arguably, His best song ever is "Night Moves"
That and "Main street"
@@2869may love Mainstreet.
His live version of Turn the Page is legendary
Love to see your reactions! ...BOB SEGER IS A TRUE LEGEND... Always been my favorite and all of his songs are GREAT!!!❤
