we used one of these machines inside a 3 million square feet building
This machine is wonderful when u can’t use fans and offices are nearby and doing renovations. You can’t use diesels or even LP vehicles inside most buildings now

Why the music
I think everyone is missing the point of this machine. It is meant for congested or highly sensitive areas where emissions aren’t allowed such as inside furnaces, refractory areas etc. we have used this type of unit for years tearing out glass units etc where a big unit won’t fit and it’s all inclosed so emissions are a no no. To some it may look expensive or not needed but specialty companies rely on this type of equipment to not only get projects but to keep their crews safe as well

This is really smart it’s small enough to get inside a building so like what if they got to move something extremely heavy inside a building and need a machine. This will work great no emissions when inside the building and small enough to go through a door. I think they should of made it where you can just hook it up with the generator attached to the machine for better mobility
No, we get it - but that is such a dumb way to go about it, that I am seriously embarrassed for CAT as a company. ( I mean, a fucking exhaust hose run out the door would cost 1/10,000th the time, effort, and money!)
And most of the time a few guys with sledge hammers could get it!
@@goldrushpro Why are you triggered by this? If you dont like it, dont buy it. Cat saw a need, and builds a machine to fill that need. Stick to your sledge if that floats your boat, but to others, time is money. To each their own.....

You should make an extended/extensible exhaust system with a fume extractor instead to get fumes out of the building.

I get they are going for the zero emissions feature which would be real nice INSIDE a factory where a thick floor needs to be hammered out. Why didn't they install the electric motor ON the Mini Ex? Use the on board hydraulics, just clutch the drive systems together. Just run 220V via the same cable used for the VPS but to the Mini Ex.
I agree with Doug Moore, setup seems a bit timely with many parts to get lost on a job site. You would have a true "hybrid" if the Electric motor was built in. Just my 2 cents.

Fucking waste of money. I don't know who designed it what I do know is the designer probably never gets out of the design studio. How many houses have three phase capability?If caterpillar is selling the unit for five thousand dollars then yeah it's worth it otherwise no.

Seriously obvious this was designed by engineers that have never been on an actual jobsite. Lots of kibbles and bits to be lost in mud, fiddly fittings to be caked up by a little bit of grit. Bare metalic bits to ensure hands are so numb they won't be much good for anything after cursing and swearing looking for and wrestling with the machine because of the aforementioned things.

We made an electric excavator but it needs a diesel motor for the hydros to run epic
Engineers in suits.... Work with them everyday and have to chase them out of the office to do site surveys regularly.

It really needs a better hose management system- as shown, those hoses will be all twisted up as soon as the machine moves away from the power supply. And, FWIW, I believe Takeuchi has come out with a battery powered mini.

1.5 ton machine that requires an external power source (not included), or 80lb jackhammer with a compressor you can leave outside. And rent for faaaaaaar cheaper. Good luck selling your toy.

It’s not just for a jackhammer and the external power source is for indoors so your work space doesn’t become contaminated.

Clever. I like how they multi purpose. The lifting bar becomes the hose guide. Providing power to the HPU is really the only negative I can think of. All those other reasons the geniuses down below me is because they will try to nay say it just to try and make themselves sound like they know what the hell they're talking about. This is a great idea well executed.

I'd think to have the electric motor mounted on the machine itself. Then all you'd have to do is shut off the diesel engine and plug in the machine to power....
