Never wore a watch my entire adult life until this month. I am 42. I went with the Seamaster 300 gray dial, blue bezel, blue rubber strap. My test for picking was which watch will I want to keep and pay for service for during the rest of my life. Happy with the decision. Cheers!

I'm wearing a stainless steel 31 jewel automatic dive watch. It keeps excellent time. It gets attention. It gets compliments. Its an 090 Vostok Amphibia. It costs $73. I can't imagine a watch that costs four times more than my car, that does virtually everything this one does yet is less waterproof.

    • @sandrodunatov485

great watch. Should have made it into this list :-D , the 090 is by far the nicer Amphibia imho. I would wear my Amphibias more often if they just had developed a quicker setup for the calendar (it is a problem if you like to change watch every few days). But they are keepers, I love and use them as well as my Omegas and Seikos.

1🎯🎯% My buddy at work wearing his Vostok "scuba dude" with the sweeping diver on the sec hand is what got me back into watches! I had no idea that autos were attainable, let alone relatively cheap... 🤯 Currently rotating an Orient Mako 2, Seiko 5 sport, and a Citizen fieldwatch along with my beloved G-shock DW5600. Unusually, I felt incredibly ignored at my Omega AD. Did they have watches in stock? Yes. But they acted like I wasn’t a serious customer and ignored my pricing questions as if I wasn’t a buyer. I went into my Rolex AD (no purchase history) and was treated like royalty. No watches in stock, but I was sat down, offered a drink, and enjoyed an exciting conversation with the rep. I was assured that I will receive a sub, it will just take a few months. Insane how backwards this seems from what most people declare online. Hope I actually get it 😂

    • @janelavie4115

You will get a submariner in just a few months? I highly doubt that.

    • @rammillim5555
      @rammillim5555 2 роки тому +6

If they told you that, you can believe them. You took the time to sit down and have a nice conversation with a rep... you know, like normal humans do. I'm sure they have plenty of people that come in and ask to be on the waitlist. They're not in a rush to fool you into thinking you're gonna get one. What you may not know is that it's also a part of their process... they're vetting you as you speak. And this is why building a relationship (a human one) is so important. Believe it or not, but some of these ADs really want these watches to go to good homes. And they are doing a lot to ensure that happens. With everything that's going on right now on the gray market, you can't blame them for their apprehension. There is so much negativity out there about Rolex, ADs, and the gray market but as with all things, at the end of the day it's a matter of supply and demand. Can't hate on Rolex just because so many people want their watches. That's ludicrous. I know plenty of people who had little to no purchase history that were awarded the opportunity (after 2-6 months waiting) to buy the Rolex they wanted simply because they built a relationship with an AD that wasn't necessarily monetary. They were just being enthusiasts looking for the watch they wanted. Why isn't that a real thing anymore? Why do we walk into ADs with a sh*t attitude like these guys are the enemy? If you can prove to these guys you're not another snarky, bitter a-hole that whine on the internet about how they can't get a watch then maybe... Just maybe you've got a good chance. Good luck brotha and hope you get it!!

The story about the GS boutique and JLC should be a lesson for all salesmen. Buying a car once I was choosing between an Audi, Mercedes Benz and a BMW. At Audi and MB they basically scoffed at me when I said how much I wanted to spend as I wasn't exactly wearing my best as I'd just been to work and the clothes were a bit on the dirty side from work. At BMW the salesman sat me down, got me coffee and had a really good chat about what I was looking for. In the end I was so happy with how I was treated at BMW I actually spent a lot more than I had originally planned. One bad salesman's loss is a good salesman's gain. So just like my experience with BMW I'm sure that those guys at Grand Seiko got plenty of sales at JLC's expense.

I don't wear it when I'm collecting the weekly rent money from my low income apts. My $80 Invicta keeps me safe from a mugging. Such savages.

Lots of people will say the standard FF is too large and only Rolex keeps value. True but I don’t buy watches as a store of value because there are other things better suited. As for the size, limited edition FFs are smaller and you can sometimes get them below retail new and on secondary market they go above retail if you ban find one.

I went to Sinn EZM3F about 4 years ago...best move I ever made. It not only keeps better time than any Rolex I've ever had, (I've owned 4 of them), it's got the very cool copper sulfate capsule window, 200 meter depth rating and extremely good lume, all for around $1600.00 when I bought it. I do still have a great fondness for Rolex, but they've priced themselves out of my reach.

While it does not hold or increase in value as a Rolex does (because of all the hype), I would go for the Glashütte SeaQ, ideally with the big date function and on the steel bracelet with the built in micro-adjustment.

Depends on Sub tool or Sub luxury? if anyone is looking for sub tool, really no need to pass spending 5K. Sinn U50, BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon Original 40mm, ORIS 65 (I like initial re-issue) all are good alternative.

I have been treated poorly at boutique stores too. Even when I was wearing a gold Rolex in their store asking about the Patek. They just look at me and decided that they don’t like me and didn’t answer me questions about their stock. The other time was in Vegas Omega store at Wynn hotel. The guy was trying to manipulate me to buy a watch with a patronizing attitude, and I never look at Omega the same way again.

The best dive warch I have is probably the 2021 Omega seamaster 300 "heritage" , it's (in my opinion at least) better than de Professional, you get a better movement with twin barrel, no helium escape valve, no crown guards, domed saphir crystal and the flat links bracelet 🤷🏻‍♂️ plus the fact you have a 57' design with a modern movement! Very happy with it on my wrist 😁

Even at retail, considering the 2022 prices which Rolex raised significantly for their steel sports models, I wouldn’t buy it, not saying about grey market madness. Sub is a good watch, which suppose to cost 5-6k, it isn’t better than Omega SMP300m by any means

The Blancpain Bathyscaphe is likely a better bet (and more accessible). The ZRC 1904 is another great alternative from the French. The RGM 300 from AMERICA is another great alternative.

Why wear an awkward dive watch in the first place? Would you join a board meeting in flippers just because it was supposedly trendy 20 years ago and you can afford "the best"? What's wrong wit a JLC Master Control Date, an unobtrusive Oyster Perpetual, a stunning retro Sinn 356 chrono, a minimalist Cartier Tank, a mesmerising Serica 4512, an equally iconic and bold Seiko SRPE51? To me turning bezel divers for everyday wearing are dead.

I bought a DateJust over a year ago (First Rolex) and been on a waiting list for a everyday wear Sub since. I was expecting a year wait. I finally gave in and bought a Breitling superocean 42 for 1/2 the price of a Sub. Yes I know it’s not a sub but it’s still a satisfying and great looking watch and I can close this waiting chapter, retire my everyday G Shock, couple bucks back in my pocket, and move on. Too many great watches available for purchase for me to continue to wait on a made-up list or pay 2x retail.

when looking at the Cartier, i think of the accutron ad: it's not a timepiece, it's a conversation piece. yeah the design is a bit crazed - compared to the tight design margins of most tool watches - but i like it!!

Blancpain Bathyscaphe is missing on this list. It's the Diver that outstyles and outclasses the Sub IMO and you can pick up for around $8000. I saw a Sinn U1 SDR up close a few weeks ago and I was very impressed with it. The Squale Dive Onda-B is a decent budget alternative that looks bling....

Thanks, we have different taste, but I appreciate your persspective. If you are a diver, look at the Seiko Monster family. Uses the difference to pay for the trip. Cheers ! Nothing like looking at a watch you took on a cave dive when you are working to remind you of what you could be doing.

Disagree with the tuna. It’s Just not as versatile, not as dressy. A more budget friendly option might be the new Aquis. Or the Seamaster. Or the Superocean Heritage. They maintain the sports looks and diver specs, but also look good dressed up or down.

At 58 and being a sun roasted Aussie, nice easy listening reviews. I've basically worn out my Diver / Scuba watches over the years. 85 Tag pro 1000, 95 Omega pro200. Zodiac ZO8000 44mm.(My first was the 69 Seiko Hibeat 150m Diver in 77 used, loved it to corroded destruction ) . I've realized it's such a personal choice what someone puts on their wrist, all I can say is to never buy on impulse, think about who you are, and not who you think you are, it may save a lot of hard earned cash. I wear the Seiko SPB 143 & 207LE on steel (sweaty 6 months of the year) these days purely as common sense beaters. Cheers from Australia "down under". Johno :)

Wait, what did I see at 5:22? Was that an Invicta-esque engraving on the left side of the case?!?! Did Invicta copy that move from Blancpain, and if they did, why does everybody not have a problem with saying how tacky it looks on the Invicta? It looks tacky even on an expensive classic Blancpain!!!

The Cartier, Grand Seiko & possibly your MarineMaster quartz are a nice start but, how about some alternatives that can compete with the DEEPSEA SEA-DWELLER depth rating?

I have the 16610 Sub and the Go sea q panorama date, the bigger brother. Both exceptional . I would postulate, having owned my sub ref for 32 years that nothing beats the pre ceramics. The Go is exceptional too, and if it was a choice between the new sub and the GO I would go for the GO. ....Why? Nobody knows what it is, it flys so low under the radar and its a classic in the making.

Second video I’ve watched and I really like your content. I really like the 43.2 Glashutte for my wrist size. The only one I would’ve added to the list is the most recent PO in the 43.5 size even though I feel my favorite PO is when they updated it with the ceramic bezel and the 8500 movement. Anyways thanks for making this video and will definitely follow for more content.
