Awesome to see such a happy unit of one of these. I've never heard of the Capricorn's, so this model looks pretty interesting! I have a couple of the Tomahawk's lying around I still need to test fully, but the bearings on this one sound surprisingly decent for how this era of Micropolis drives like to go. Lovely drive!
Interesting drive! I've always found these late Micropolis drives a bit iffy however, you could get one that lasted for years or one that lasted only a couple months, seems like their quality control was not the greatest during their final days before their bankruptcy and some drives for sure didn't last as long as others, but when they work, they work great for sure!
@@doomer37 I for sure can say for myself that it was marginal, I used to have a Micropolis 2210 that I purchased untested and it had failed, seemed like it didn't last very long when it was in service or it died while it was in storage from the previous owner, but very sad nonetheless as all of the heads seemed to be intact and there was no physical damage inside. Glad to hear that, thanks for uploading! Also do you know where the temperature sensor on these drives are that changes color? I'm quite curious and since you took the PCB off this one I was hoping I could see it but I don't, maybe you have an idea?

Yea it seems their quality control was marginal around this time. I am quite happy with this drive.
