My wife and I were both previously married and divorced. We serve as much as possible, but we are limited, which is scriptural. I'm not out for any recognition, I just want to serve Him . Being retired , I was asked to organize a team to clean the church. I'll clean bathrooms and clean the Lord's House with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. Thank you Lord for the honor and privilege to clean Your House .
I am a divorced man. I cheated on my first wife while I was a Mormon. I left that organization and my ex divorced me. I remarried and became a believer in Christ. I thought I was called to preach and went through a lot of training to do so, was licensed and the ordained. I preached an and was set to take a pastoral position but I refused to take that. I don’t feel I’m qualified to pastor anyone but my own family and minister to those around me but not be a pastor. That is how I’ve felt for a long time time and I’m good with it.
You weren’t a believer when you cheated so it would be biblically fine for you to take a pastoral position. Unbelievers aren’t held to any biblical standard, if they were then almost nobody could be a pastor.

As a Born-again preacher this is really thought provoking and truly blessing. Got me examining myself with the Word. Amen love this channel.❤️ Cory Minor I also enjoyed your testimony.
Thanks for rooting your position in scripture...this is an interesting topic given recent events across America. Much prayer and persistence are so needed.
Mad respect to you. I have been listening to you a while. I love your heart. I appreciate your heart, and you're able to share your heart and share your experience. I thank God he has restored you so you can share with us.
My brother, the same Qualifications that are in the Bible to become a pastor are the same Qualifications that disqualifies you. If you have not lived up to it you are disqualified. And just to add, my brother you have been a blessing to my personal studies in the word. You confirm a lot that I know to be true in God's word. Blessings ⚔️ 🌹⚔️
Cory, I am a huge fan of your channel and I watch all your videos. I agree with you most of the time. If you were a Christian and an associate pastor at the time of your adultery and/or financial deception, you are disqualified to be a pastor. Praise God you have repented and He is using you to spread the gospel and edify the body. With that being said, I would not be able to sit under your leadership as a pastor even if I wanted to. Your past sin is not above reproach as scripture outlines. You have been redeemed as a Christian, but as a pastor? Since scripture is not clear on pastoral restoration, it’s best to heed on the side of caution and not do it. Blessings to you and your family.
Hey Corie! This REALLY BLESSED ME! This is something us as women need to understand as well. We cannot rush Repentance....AND ITS PROCESS of deliverance and healing. Wow!!!! Amazing Grace!
David was not a priest and would not have been qualified to be an elder, even though he was a man after God's own heart. We mist remember being forgiven for our sins it does not mean God will not let us deal with our consequences. He is still loved and still saved but just cannot be an elder again
@jamiesmith9827 God allowed David to eat the Priests bread something that was not common according to the law and that could have brought David to trouble but yet God spared him.
@jasbury911 True, we will never make it on my own. Moat people don't even qualify to lead in the Church if their filthy thoughts can be exposed and their secret struggles. Just as to something is not known in the public domain by people, it does not mean that thing is not a reproach to God The church does not belong to people it belongs to God. Matthew 16:18
Neither the word “husband” or “wife” is in the original text. The literal translation is “one woman man”…as in the man is not in adultery, womanizing, or sleeping around. This is not about the number of marriages, it’s about fidelity in a marriage or how he handles himself toward women even if he isn’t married. Many people try to interpret the text the you just did and have unhealthy boundaries with women that to lead to sexual problems.
@@JustTeachMinistries Husband/man = ἀνήρ (an-ayr). Wife/woman = γυνή (goo-nay). The teaching is on not having more than one wife at a time. (Titus 1:6; 1 Tim 3:2)
@@JustTeachMinistries One husband and wife until death do you part. A widower can become a pastor if he has met all the qualifications listed in the bible.
Jeremiah 23:1 “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” If a pastor has done this by being a adulterer and then still preached for decades without repenting all of his work was a lie the best course of action is his restoration to Christ and no preaching
Most people don't even own a Bible or they discard it why because it shines light on there own infeulity, does scripture not say the carnal minded cannot understand the spiritual?
@@rickypope7849 I believe a Christian can be carnal minded but I was referring to understanding the scriptures a unregenerated man or woman cannot discern simple biblical truths but a saved person can because of the Holy Ghost. Maybe we are saying the same thing it's just when you said the Colonel can I understand the spiritual I was referring to a lost man trying to understand spiritual things
@dank2476 The office of leadership is holy and require that a man rule his household well and be husband of one wife. All repentant believers can be evangelists. A man who flees drunkenness is forgiven. A man who forsakes his fornication relationship can be forgiven. A man who leaves his homosexual marriage can be forgiven. And a man who leaves his adulterous marriage can be forgiven. Those who stay in sinful relationships are outside of God's will.
@jonathanisrael9714 if one leaves that doctrine and takes a divorce from said wives is also forgiven but if one still practicing it isn't its still a sin yes. The preachers always need to practice what they preach they are judge harshly if not.
If sexual sin disqualifies one from being a pastor then ALL sin would disqualify ... all this rhetoric is the result of "pastors" believing they are in a class by themselves and their butts don't stink... I cant and won't stop believing that God calls... God qualifies... and we as the sinful creatures we are have no place to judge.
@s.daleamburgey4672 It's not just the requirement of being the husband of one wife, we see that church leaders are required to also rule their households well.
The Apostle Paul should've never been allowed to be around Christians, because he killed Christians. That's the understanding of grace, and forgiveness, we have today. Forgiveness and reconciliation go together, always, or we are randomly in danger of hell. Repentance leads to forgiveness, followed by reconciliation.
These qualifications for pastor that Paul gives to Timothy aren’t about God forgiving the sin or sins. They are about how he is viewed by the congregation and the outsiders. Paul says he must be well liked by even outsiders. If we only judge our pastor based on God forgiving their sins then any Christian could be a pastor just because he want to be. Why would God even give qualifications at all?
Hey brother Corey. Im thankful for your videos and your channel. You have help me learn and I thank the Lord for you and your teachings of helping us learn. Love you my brother God bless you.
Those "outside the church" would include, for example, those we do business with, the IRS, local governments. Do you pay your share of taxes, or do you try to evade taxes? Do you insult or become impatient with store cashiers? Do you return the money when you're undercharged? The list is endless for those who are "outside the church."
If it wasn’t up to the people then Paul wouldn’t have said that the pastor must be above reproach and well liked by outsiders. Actually, almost all of the qualifications are based on the opinions of the people.
Forgiveness and reconciliation or restoration have nothing to do with positions in the church it has to do with your relationship with the lord. Pastors that sin against the lord in such a way the violates the word (main text, 1 Timothy) are by definition disqualified to be an elder deacon pastor Shepard. People just love their titles and power … smh The Bible also says that those who teach are held to a higher account..
@@926paaja Could you show me biblically in the text what sins disqualify a man permanently and what sins disqualify for a season and does it matter if it was before salvation or after salvation I'm just intrigued on how people know what sins disqualify people. And I think some people love to see Elders fall because of jealousy or even hatred. Ijs
Interesting video and thanks for covering this. Sadly, Christians are divided on whether a pastor is permanently disqualified if he engages in sexual sin; I'm glad you covered it well. Btw, that 240 months vs 240 weeks part was something lol. Keep up the good work you're doing brother.
the pastor isn't permanently disqualified. why else is their forgiveness from the lord? the hurdle that minister has to overcome are the sheep in the congregation. they won't forgive because they expected the pastor to be honest and righteous. i don't blame them for not excepting a pastor that lived in the sin they preached against.
There is no condemnation for those in Christ. God always wants us to be reminded of his love Corey. Jesus would never. It should’ve hurt more to break his heart.
There is no condemnation with respect to salvation. That does not mean there are no consequences such as disqualification from the office of elder or deacon.
A point that I don’t think you’ve considered- In the context of Paul’s ministry, the believers were saved out of a life of idolatry , which included all manner of sexual perversions. So, no one would have been qualified to serve. That being said, It’s obvious, that the qualifications refer to the present state of a man, not his past.
I think what matters most is how you react when people bring up our sin. How open are we to talking about it proves how close we are to those actions/sins.
I hope you will be content in doing whatever God has called you to do. Whatever He has just for ‘You’. Pastor is just a title, you can still be a good shepherd in the pulpit or out. I for one enjoy your channel. Prison ministry has such a need in the good news of the gospel. Whatever God has for you I’m sure you will be fruitful with whatever you are called to do in the Lord.🔥
See this is why people need to attend church. Every time you attend with other believers you are practicing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control. And there are many different ways or circumstances that plays out. But it takes some control and maturity to be in a service with a couple hundred people that may test your forgiveness or faithfulness or patience…..I’m sure I’ve tested my brothers and sisters just being me. 😏 Like you were saying to be in a leadership role (a servant) for the people they decide by majority if one is trustworthy to minister. I of course am assuming a restored man of God for service. Very interesting you just don’t know how much I’m geeking out on this topic. Remember how afraid of Paul the apostles were and for good reason. And Paul does mention spans of time in that whole dynamic and you have to take into account the time that went by people were watching to see has he really changed? Yes I know it’s not the best comparison or Peter’s restoration for that matter. But when someone in leadership has sinned against the assembly, there is a time of restoration. If there can be. I don’t understand why anyone would not want to be a part of an assembly. There’s good to be done and everyone is part of it. I say that because these days some people get their church online…..hey it took me a while to even know what to think about that even! I’m a 53 year old man. Lot has changed in a real short period of time. God bless liked
I go by the moniker, "The Disqualified Preacher". So, I am not here throwing stones. I have NEVER, in my 49 years, heard anyone teach this text and at the end conclude that they were not qualified. Female pastors. Male pastors that ordained female pastors. LGBTQi+ pastors. Etc. So I didn't expect this to go any different. However, this was a pretty balanced lesson. There's no way to flesh out every possible scenario but Corey did a good overview. Hopefully, everyone walks away taking the question even more seriously than previous.
2 Corinthians 11 12 And what I am doing I will continue to do in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission, they work on the same terms as we do. 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. All Glory to Almighty God in Christ Jesus' name through the Power of His Holy Spirit Amen. Continue to set the captive free by speaking the Word.
Those men where chosen and ordained by GOD, Himself. The people they led recognized that. Of course, not all the people they led liked them, but nonetheless, they recognized these men were put in their position by GOD. So their authority and reputation were not diminished by their errors. They were also only prophesying to their own people. In this age when the preacher must take the Word to the whole world, an error that diminishes their reputation and authority will diminish their effectiveness because people will question them. Not discounting the power of the Holy Spirit to convert people, because salvation is all grace, but we have to be realistic about the willingness of people to give an audience to and take seriously someone whose record doesn't line up with scripture, especially during their time in the pulpit. This is why Paul says: "Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without.." (1Tim 3:7).
@private-nobody6667; @@marcomeyer7545 The New Testament epistles present a new paradigm unique and specific to the church, i.e., the body of Christ and therefore is not applicable to the nation of Israel or any one from the Old Testament. God specifically chose Moses and David for special service to Him to speak and lead His chosen people. However, those that are shepherds (overseers) of the NT church are not specifically chosen by God, but according to 1 Tim 3:1 are men who have aspirations or a desire to lead/shepherd a church. So, no one is making up laws, but rightly dividing the God's Word.
I agree with you about the interpretation in Proverbs about adultery. So Phil Johnson is took that verse out of context. Paul's pastoral epistles make clear what is acceptable in the church.
We have to understand something, just because Peter or Paul referred to themselves as elders, they were apostles performing elder duties. We do not use apostles statuses to measure whether or not a person has to be married to be a pastor/overseer/elder/bishop. 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 are very clear about the qualifications. Nowhere in those qualifications does it say "if a man is married", then he must be the husband of 1 wife. Furthermore, if a man isn't married, what household is he managing? A man absolutely has to be married to be a pastor/overseer/elder/bishop.
The greater the sin , the greater the ministry of responsibility greater the discipline , more time on the bleachers , or being benched on the side lines , watching those that are in the race still .The greater the sin , greater the responsibility = more wasted time off , and hopefully during this time of being whipped in the woodshed of the Lord , by the Lord = more caution v, more accountability , more no more hiding sin and dependence on the word and prayer.
Shalom Corey, Honestly how I see it now is we don't need these titles to be a Spirit led people who love GOD and serve Him, we all can have different characteristics of pastoral or evangelism etc..., my husband always gets asked if he is a pastor because of how he carries himself? I shared with him that you are a pastor, you are one in our house and other leadership skills .. does he want to become one? No because there's a world way and a spiritual way. And we rather do homeschool , home church and invite people who want to grow spiritually in Yeshua's name Amen
I'm tired of all people who get on here and say we'll scripture says this or that, no it doesn't, you just found a verse that you think applies to your argument, without reading the full context.........
I watched a decent amount of his sermons, as john macarthur is my favorite preacher. Its very sad whats happening with lawson and just hope he repents.
Called is not qualified. No human is without sin. No Pastor in existence has not transgressed during his time. A good Pastor will admit, repent, and be better for thier mistakes.....overall. IMHO of course!!! No cemetery school can make a Pastor, but a Pastor can pass those cemetery tests. I used the word cemetery purposely.
It seems to me that Peter's denial - even with an oath - was worse than adultery. Yet he was restored. Also, are we under law or grace in the NT? Are we reading the standards for elder as a new commandment by which we are measuring ourselves righteous, or as a standard by which we confess our need for grace and dependence upon God? I won't go through my professional background, but I have peeked behind the door of several pastor's private lives. Most seem to have a major failure in their background. Failures which they learned their lesson from and never did again. It seems like their failures were the very thing that broke their self reliance and left them with nothing but the grace of God to lean on. And God used them.
We cannot base qualifications on the merit’s of a man, that will lead to pride and ultimately a fall. (not saying there is no standard, but consider) Paul said it in Ephesians 2:8-9, that if we based salvation on man’s merit it lead to man boasting. Works the same in ministry, people are boasting that they’ve NEVER made a certain mistake and now they are falling like flies due to pride. Dr. Lawson is clear example, he dragged down many preachers and pastors due to moral failures and now he is guilty of the very same. Sad that all people can see is his mistake and not God at work. God is showing the church we are nothing without Him and we keep make idols out of these so called “perfectly qualified” preachers. There are no qualified men just a God who qualifies (Romans 8:30)
Surely 1 Timothy 3 is referring to one's present walk i.e. if your lifestyle is presently above reproach, and you're presently thought of well by outsiders, and presently managing your household well etc. (or maybe the period of testing part could apply too - in verse 10 ) What about Peter (Barnabas too) when he fell into hypocrisy (definitely wasn't above reproach then), Paul publicly rebukes them saying, "But when I saw their conduct was not in step with the gospel...." - we know from Acts, Peter was later restored to his original leadership role within the church.
Corey know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made GOD has and will always Love you and please stop referring to yourself and the rest of GOD’s creation as trash! even at our worse none of of us are trash. (p.s. I am bald too)
If a Pastor repents he can be restored based on him admitting that he is guilty , go in a different direction his wife's forgives him God forgives him and he forgives himself he can be a Pastor again
The cross of Jesus Christ made it possible for the Lord to restore and use whom ever He will. His blood paid the Justice of God, paid in full. JOHN 19:30
You can't be a pastor because your name brings reproach from your time as a youth pastor. The mere fact that you were a youth pastor means they gave you that position as one who as qualified in character and knowledge. People would have looked up to you for guidance and an example of godly living. Now look what the scriptures said Roms 2: 21 you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24 As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” Now that fact that you were able to lead men in the prison means God gave you the grace to function there but it doesn't mean you have the grace to be a pastor outside the prison. You should stick to the grace God has given you. You said a prisoner said if you were a pastor he would come to church but people don't go to church because they don't want to be in the light. So that's no a reason to start a church. The reason why you are not qualified is because your stuff is all over the internet and when you stand before the congregation they will be on their phones googling your crimes. So you disqualified yourself. Now if we didn't have the internet then maybe you would be qualified. But the mere fact that you were conning people in church as a youth pastor will surly be going through the minds of the congregants - is he conning me? the trust is gone. 1 Tim 3:7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, if the news station comes to interview you do you not think they will say you went to prison as a pastor for fraud why should people trust you now? Whether you have changed or not it's irrelevant - it comes down to how people see you and you should not want your name to bring shame to the name of Christ because of your pride. For instance - those pastors who are disqualified yet get back up preaching knowing they should not be are doing it because of pride. So my advice is stick to prison ministry where God used you and don't think it's transferrable like those famous gospel artist who think because they can draw a crowd at a concert means now the can be a pastor and also draw a crowd. Be content where God as you don't go beyond what he as called you to. Remember your decision not only affects you but also your family - so think of what they will be subject to because of all the stuff on the internet if you decide to pastor. Hebs 13:5 Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee
Moses was a murderor but God send him back as a Prophet and he said to the people thou shall not kill. Paul was part of the murder of Stephen but why did God make him an Apostle
@@lebogangseabi525 Yes but you need to keep it in context - none of them were converted when they committed such crimes. Corey said he was not only a true Christian but also a pastor meaning he was a mature Christian as the bible says you should not appoint a novice to the office. If Corey was unsaved when he did those crimes then your logic would be fine but He himself said he was saved. You need to give an example of a born again Christian in the bible who did a crime and then was put back in position by God, then you might have a case for Corey being a pastor but I doubt you'll find one.
@@carpentertom Yes but Peter didn't commit a crime that he was put in prison for. So those outside the church wouldn't see peter as a reproach. What peter did was to be hypocritical that he even influenced others to go along with him. That is far different from breaking the law of the land or taking a life. Plus peter was trying to please the Jewish Christians so the scenario is totally different and a rebuke was necessary. Rebuke those elders in public who sin. In Corey's case he was defrauding Christians over a long period and then got arrested by those in the world. The two situations do not compare so the punishment is different.
I would think 🤔 the congregation Would have to vote 🗳 Weather anyone is above reproach Or is in reproach --- bringing it Before 2 or 3 elders..... Love your videos Corey Makes me think biblically.
I am a licensed pastor and I will say that 99.9% of my peers are not qualified to be a pastor today because they have had sex before marriage (a sexual sin). Facts!
Where in the Bible does it mention sex “before marriage” as a sin, and what the punishment is? It mentions sex without the benefit of marriage (sex without the man taking responsibility of the woman), Exodus 22:16, and sex causing the marriage aka concubinage -Genesis 16:15-16, Genesis 30:3-4. Are you referring to one of these? These women are his wives but there are different kinds/job descriptions of “wives”. There are wives, and concubines (lovers/house assistants) These don’t require a formal wedding, ring, or license. Concubines are informal wives, where she can leave without a documented divorce; closer to a girlfriend, but with rights based on whatever her and her man agree to.
@@RobTheTruth Exactly; so the question is what is fornication? Where is the deed explained in Scripture? Then we’ll know if that pastor committed it. What we call adultery in America is NOT adultery in the Holy Bible. So we can’t say this man did something that God said he Didn’t. So what we’re making the error in doing today is using a catchword “sin”, “lust”, “fornication”, “adultery”, and the actual description of the act is NOT what Scripture says it is. We’re creating false sins, or changing definitions, then judging someone for it. The American church is in great error, where it comes to its sexual morality doctrines, and the principles of marriage and concubinage. We’re supposed to be Protestants, who seek the definitions of Yahweh, but have adopted the Romanist concepts of the Council of Trent, which was anti-Reformation/Greco-Roman, forced monogamy.
With what you are doing here on youtube, you are preaching the bible in scripture. You may not use a title of it, but you are still preaching the gospel. You got me learning more and more about the bible than most did in the church. Especially the mega churches.
I agree that sexual immorality should disqualify a pastor in ministry but I need clarity on something, does all sin disqualify pastors? You're telling me that there are pastors who have been in ministry who have never sinned once?from sexual immorality all the way down to being unmerciful?
He called prophets , he chosed priest and apostles... and so one .. These were people God chose to carry his word to his people. These are people set aside.. these people are tried and tested.. You are chosen to pastor..
Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t you say you disagree with the “T” in the acrostic Tulip of Calvinism? I ask because when you speak of yourself, you speak in such a way that makes it sound like you are in agreements with total depravity… truly just asking if I’m not mistaken (and you have a lot a videos so I can’t remember which video it was. You said disagree with certain points of tulip) I’m pretty sure you said you disagree with total depravity. Am I correct?
@@smartchristians the distinction being you don’t believe that we are depraved to our very core, rather situation by situation? Is that a fair statement?
Moses was a murderer, but remember he killed in defense of someone else, which is allowed, we’d do the same to protect those we love, right? and Moses wasn’t under the law-yet- because at that time, there was no law, God haven’t given it to him yet as he was still a prince in Egypt when he slew the Egyptian overseer. Paul said in Romans that sin is not imputed where there is no law. Rahab lied to protect the spies Joshua sent to her, but as she was not yet a member of the children of Israel, she was not under the law. Abraham also lied, saying his wife was his sister, but again, no law yet to tell them how to behave. They all had faith and believed in what God was telling them. Moses believed God, Abraham believed God, rahab believed that her family would be spared by a red cord in her window. Their faith justified them before they were even given the law

The real question is can they be trusted again, first by God, and then by people. It is something that does not have a definitive answer, a one size fits all answer. There are extenuating circumstances in many cases. Therefore, it must be a case by case process. Denominations generally will not do this, mainly because of precedence. Everyone is treated exactly the same regardless of the circumstances. It takes time to apply truth to each case, and denominations don’t have the time or resources often to do this. People are simply discarded based on one or two Scriptural points without taking the whole counsel of the word into consideration. The weeds get too thick for most people to dig through. It important also to note that not everyone, especially repeat or egregious (abominable stuff) offenders, can be restored. I must say that because the level of trust necessary to minister God’s word is so high, not many attain their previous stature. This subject is much too complex to cover in a few pen strokes or a nice video.
I always thought you were a pastor… I call you pastor Cory when speaking about you to friends and family lol. Well when you are officially I’ll definitely make sure to watch you
Though the qualifications to be an elder are spelled out clearly in scripture, that is not the only criteria to become one. Are you truly being called by the Holy Spirit? I believe this takes a lot of prayer and supplication along with fasting. And I ain't talking like for 3 or 4 days. Many a time I have taught people about scripture and they were amazed at my knowledge and said I should be a pastor or something. I knew better, I wasn't being called and was not going to let my ego interfere with God's plan for me. Yeah, the post has too many pronouns of I and me in it. Just trying to help others not fall into a trap they shouldn't be in.
So I ask all these worldly people with there excuses to show me a perfect Christian, and if they do, I'll show the biggest hypocrite in the world........to continue
As a man of God i can tell you if you read your Bible correctly nowhere does the bible disqualify you from being a pastor if you have sinned. Look at David. He killed Uriah and committed adultery but yet God kept him as king and called him a man after his own heart. Moses disobeyed God many times but yet God did not remove him from leadership. Now bear in mind that if you don't repent and confess your sins then surely you are not qualified to serve as a pastor. The problem is some churches have by laws that will disqulify a pastor once he sins. Also your sins may be forgiven but many will not listen to your preaching so your testimonies ir leadership may not be acknowledged and weaken your testimony. We are all fallen. And for those that are pastors that have fallen we should pray for their restoration.
Corey, I'm a pastors son, I did not follow my dad's profession, that being said, I will never take a position as a preacher. Now can God use me? We as Christians are under a microscope, but what people don't understand is when you put people in your scales to weigh them against your so called moral standards you don't realize that Jesus is weighing you in his so my question becomes how do these others measure up? ....... to continue
You don’t have to be a pastor to be used. You did not state any reason God couldn’t use you, so the next question is, how could God use you? Right. One must judge justly and without hypocrisy. I don’t understand your final question.
God calls men and women into the ministry. If you don’t think so you haven’t been called it’s just that simple. Then again I’m specifically referring to the offices mentioned in Timothy and Titus. Paul was called, and so are those of us who have been called. 1 Timothy 1:12 KJVS And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Hebrews 5:4 KJVS And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
I believe pastors are called by God . NOT a position someone chooses. When they bible speaks on the man who desire to be ..... I believe this is a deacon/bishop that falls under the pastor ..
Moses was alone when God call him .and there are many others that he qualify without the presence of other. We can never say that others have to be present when God called us. It says man's gift will make room for him and bring him before great man . Proverbs 18:16-17 . God confirms the calling through the manifestation of the anointing. If he's an apostle or prophet or evangelist or pastor or teacher. Spiritual leaders can know once calling by the function of the Anointing . That's my comment
This is all interpretation, most people already assume you are a sinner. You saying such words about yourself is more false humility, it’s clear you are providing some type of pastoral care.
That's not Bible give me a scripture were it says everyday is the Sabbath.Brothers and Sister if we are not going to live by every word that proceedeth out the mouth of, God your worship is vain.
@@ricksonora6656 I don't understand your reply. I meant that he's not disqualified to be a Pastor. What he did was not sexual sin. We'll let's examine some of the greatest men God called, Moses, he destroyed the ten commandments, he failed, let's look at Sampson, he give up his secret, he failed, look at David God who said a man after my own heart, so if you think your not worthy, God can still use you, it's that simple, ......
You're right Brother Corey. He is wrong. Not only is David forgiven for his sin, it is prophesied in Ezekiel that in the resurrection David will be appointed as the Lord's prince in His temple and will serve as shepherd over His people. And this will be done in full knowledge of what David did with Bathsheba and against Uriah.
@@926paaja "Firstly" let's go to the scriptures. 2 Samuel 5:1-2 ~ Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, "Behold, we are your bone and your flesh. Previously, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and in. And the LORD said to you, 'You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be a ruler over Israel.'" David was told by God and the people even acknowledged that David was to be BOTH shepherd AND ruler over God's people. Any by "shepherd" it wasn't to mean that David was to take the animal herds of the people out to the pasture every day. He was both a spiritual leader over the people and sovereign ruler over the nation. And in regards to your question about his punishment, the scriptures say in 2 Samuel 12 these were his punishments 1. God would raise up evil against David from his own household. 2. David's wives were to be taken 3. The child born to him by raping Bathsheba would die. And we need to take note of the why behind that final punishment. 2 Samuel 12:14 ~ However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die." David was a representative of God; in both leadership and character, and his sin and reproach n the case of Bathsheba and Uriah invitited opportunity for reproach towards God and for God's name to be blasphemed because man of God failed in character so profoundly. And like a pastor that likewise is called to represent God in leadership and character, David understood the gravity of the responsibility and the weight of the reproach from his failure. Psalm 69:5-12 ~ O God, it is You who knows my folly, And my wrongs are not hidden from You. May those who wait for You not be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel, Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Dishonor has covered my face. I have become estranged from my brothers And an alien to my mother's sons. For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me. When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my reproach. When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them. Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And I am the song of the drunkards. AND YET.......As I said in the beginning, it is prophesied in Ezekiel that in the resurrection David will be restored to being the Lord's prince in the Lord's temple and shepherd over the Lord's people. And in this new temple that Jesus will build for Himself, David the prince will be the only one with access to come and eat bread before the Lord.

No such passage in the bible about being permanently disqualified as a pastor. The bible speaks of "restoration" (Galatians 6:1). The Greek word for "restore" is to put back together or "Katartizo" which means to mend or repair....the word picture is like setting back broken bones to the original state. Restoration can, and should, take time...like the healing of reset bones.

Sexual sin will disqualify one from being a pastor but an ex-murder can qualify. Strange, isn't?
@dank2476
The office of leadership is holy and require that a man rule his household well and be husband of one wife.

@s.daleamburgey4672
It's not just the requirement of being the husband of one wife, we see that church leaders are required to also rule their households well.
You can’t compare before conversion to after conversion, and you can’t compare salvation to service.
@@shawnglass108 Since most churches hire complete strangers, what you point out here isn't being followed.

It’s never up to the people…always up to God.
…and, therefore, for people to apply the restrictions that God has commanded. So, actually, it is up to the people.
If it wasn’t up to the people then Paul wouldn’t have said that the pastor must be above reproach and well liked by outsiders. Actually, almost all of the qualifications are based on the opinions of the people.
God will make all of them fit the criteria.

In the context of Paul’s ministry, the believers were saved out of a life of idolatry , which included all manner of sexual perversions. So, no one would have been qualified to serve.

Like you were saying to be in a leadership role (a servant) for the people they decide by majority if one is trustworthy to minister.
@@private-nobody6667 exactly. Why do we make laws that God did not make.
This is being anachronistic. It’s like saying didn’t Solomon have multiple wives?

(or maybe the period of testing part could apply too - in verse 10 )
What about Peter (Barnabas too) when he fell into hypocrisy (definitely wasn't above reproach then), Paul publicly rebukes them saying, "But when I saw their conduct was not in step with the gospel...." - we know from Acts, Peter was later restored to his original leadership role within the church.
Now look what the scriptures said
Roms 2:
21 you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24 As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
Now that fact that you were able to lead men in the prison means God gave you the grace to function there but it doesn't mean you have the grace to be a pastor outside the prison.
1 Tim 3:7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,
if the news station comes to interview you do you not think they will say you went to prison as a pastor for fraud why should people trust you now?
Good word
Everyone knew exactly who Peter was and Paul told everyone of Peter’s wrong.
Restoration: What about Jesus restoring Peter? What about John Mark? What about David? What about Joseph?
I would think 🤔 the congregation
Would have to vote 🗳
Weather anyone is above reproach
Or is in reproach --- bringing it
Before 2 or 3 elders.....
Love your videos Corey
Makes me think biblically.
I was in fornication with a married man and I was praying asking God to help me do what was right
I am a licensed pastor and I will say that 99.9% of my peers are not qualified to be a pastor today because they have had sex before marriage (a sexual sin). Facts!
Hold up…. Paul murdered before conversion? Not qualified?
Where in the Bible does it mention sex “before marriage” as a sin, and what the punishment is?
It mentions sex without the benefit of marriage (sex without the man taking responsibility of the woman), Exodus 22:16, and sex causing the marriage aka concubinage -Genesis 16:15-16, Genesis 30:3-4. Are you referring to one of these?
These women are his wives but there are different kinds/job descriptions of “wives”. There are wives, and concubines (lovers/house assistants)
These don’t require a formal wedding, ring, or license.
Concubines are informal wives, where she can leave without a documented divorce; closer to a girlfriend, but with rights based on whatever her and her man agree to.
@LanLe-rz4lm fornication is a sin period
You're telling me that there are pastors who have been in ministry who have never sinned once?from sexual immorality all the way down to being unmerciful?
thank you. question: do you ever get over feeling that you are not worthy, even after being called by a church for leadership?
I feel unworthy all the time, but that just makes me happier because he still loves me
Desire is benign desire…
I disagree with Total Depravity. I believe we are depraved, but not to the extent that Calvinism believes.

This subject is much too complex to cover in a few pen strokes or a nice video.
could divorce diqualify a man from being a pastor/elder/overseer
Corey, I have a PHD. Yes I am very proud of my Post Hole Digger!
I’m a PhD, too, but in my case, it means Poorhouse Dad.
@ricksonora6656 yeah sorry he does use me just not in a pastoral sense
If sexual sin disqualifies one from being a pastor then ALL sin would disqualify ... all this rhetoric is the result of "pastors" believing they are in a class by themselves and their butts don't stink... I cant and won't stop believing that God calls... God qualifies... and we as the sinful creatures we are have no place to judge.
Cory start a Church in FL 😊
So is it a sin to ignore God's Holy Sabbath day.And it is not Sunday and it was not for the Jews it was for all men.But we say we follow the bible.
Every day is the sabbath
God was dealing with you.
Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship, with who? GOD. GOD IS NOT AN IDEA OR THOUGHT, JESUS WAS A MAN.
God calls men and women into the ministry. If you don’t think so you haven’t been called it’s just that simple. Then again I’m specifically referring to the offices mentioned in Timothy and Titus. Paul was called, and so are those of us who have been called.
1 Timothy 1:12 KJVS
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
Hebrews 5:4 KJVS
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Amen!!!!

Do you think God cannot use a person? We'll let's examine some of the greatest men God called, Moses, he destroyed the ten commandments, he failed, let's look at Sampson, he give up his secret, he failed, look at David God who said a man after my own heart, so if you think your not worthy, God can still use you, it's that simple, ......
The question is HOW God will use you.
@@ricksonora6656 God can use anybody, no matter the circumstances, but man has to be humble and repentant and turn away.
😅
You're right Brother Corey. He is wrong. Not only is David forgiven for his sin, it is prophesied in Ezekiel that in the resurrection David will be appointed as the Lord's prince in His temple and will serve as shepherd over His people.
And this will be done in full knowledge of what David did with Bathsheba and against Uriah.
Firstly, David wasn’t a spiritual leader/prophet or pastor he was a king secondly, What were the consequences of David’s sin?
@@926paaja "Firstly" let's go to the scriptures.
2 Samuel 5:1-2 ~ Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, "Behold, we are your bone and your flesh. Previously, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and in. And the LORD said to you, 'You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be a ruler over Israel.'"
David was told by God and the people even acknowledged that David was to be BOTH shepherd AND ruler over God's people. Any by "shepherd" it wasn't to mean that David was to take the animal herds of the people out to the pasture every day. He was both a spiritual leader over the people and sovereign ruler over the nation.
And in regards to your question about his punishment, the scriptures say in 2 Samuel 12 these were his punishments
1. God would raise up evil against David from his own household.
2. David's wives were to be taken
3. The child born to him by raping Bathsheba would die.
And we need to take note of the why behind that final punishment.
2 Samuel 12:14 ~ However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die."
David was a representative of God; in both leadership and character, and his sin and reproach n the case of Bathsheba and Uriah invitited opportunity for reproach towards God and for God's name to be blasphemed because man of God failed in character so profoundly.

@@gamefacexxix my comments are always getting removed it’s very frustrating indeed!
That’s about our restoration to the lord not a position.
But you are in ministry. You are proclaimimg on here.
📢 there is levels of sin that will keep you out of the kingdom of God if you don't repent and repent me stop the Bible says let no man deceive you fornicators adulterers homosexuals extortionist lasciviousness you will not inherit the kingdom of God. David repented and he stopped doing and committing the sin. Stop using David to justify sin
Corey, stop it. You know darn well “to be”does not mean that. Einai does not carry the same thought you are alleging. Especially if the thought is irreproachable. Stop trying to re-teach a foundational point. In the Greek your premise would not follow at all, in the language or the culture. Quit playing bro.
