    This is really useful, not the usual tips that every other Joe gives. Thanks a lot.

    Most of the time you hear guitars playing out of tune on a record, its not actually that the guitarist didn't bother to tune their instrument. It's usually an intonation issue with the guitar itself. The saddle on acoustic guitars determines the length of the string, and the length of the string determines whether your guitar plays in tune further up the neck, or whether your open E note turns into an E flat when you play it at the 12th fret.
    You can check to see if your guitar is properly intonated with a good tuner that measures how far off you are from your target in "cents". Play every string unfretted and take note of exactly where the tuner's needle is, then play the same string again at the 12th fret. It should be the same note unfretted as it is on the 12 fret, just an octave higher obviously. And for me personally, I start to notice that out-of-tune sound if the difference between the notes is anything more than maybe 5 cents. Most people probably wouldn't notice the difference until 10+ cents I think, but I've been tuning in cents so I can play in different keys without having a D major chord sound horribly out of tune for years now, so my ear is probably more sensitive to it by now.
    If your tuner doesn't display how far off you are in cents, try the Guitar Tuna or Band Lab apps. For Guitar Tuna you'll have to go into the settings menu and make sure you're on the "pro" accuracy setting. For Band Lab, there's a tuning fork icon in the bottom right hand corner of the recording screen. It just tells you what note you're closest to and how far off you are though, so if you're not super comfortable with tuning by ear already you might wanna use Guitar Tuna. They'll just tell you how far off you are from the notes in standard tuning.

    First: practice for weeks
    Then: new strings and another day of practice.
    And at the moment you sit down in front of the mic, a random string starts buzzing. 🤦‍♂️😂

    What's the best way to reduce breathing please?

    • @SebastianRuzycki
      @SebastianRuzycki  Рік тому +1

      I noticed a reduction in breathing noise when the mics are a bit to the left or right, but still pointed at the guitar. The best thing to do is to learn to control your breathing.

      Thanks! I looked up at some breathing exercises that are not to do with music and they actually count up to 4 (or whatever else) for the breath in and same for the breath out so I guess it's just a matter of doing this for a bar or 2 depending on tempo which should be easier (less coordination) than foot tapping. Can't wait to give it a go when I finally get some time to do some practice...

      I can breathe silently now after learning vocal exercises.Just normal vocal practice based on breathing and voice control.Fantastic 'side effect' to singing.
