DIY Seasonal Outdoor Turtle Pond That Your Neighbor's Won't Hate!

- It is turtle summer vacation time! This is a cheap, temporary, seasonal setup that is very easy, looks presentable and provides a lot of swimming for your turtles during the warm months they can live outdoors (in New England anyway). I would only suggest this for strong swimmers! (e.g. adult sliders).

I would add some mosquito fish….they are fast enough….I have them with my outdoor turtle tub…I just put plants…for the fish to hide and dart in
Nice setup. Just one thing about the 2700gph pump. Seems to me that it should have some sort of a mesh bag around it that serves a a pre-filter?

What are you going to do about mosquitos and their larvae?
With the fountain the water’s surface is agitated so mosquitoes do not lay. The turtles would take care of it otherwise haha.

Should the temp of the water be checked before putting the turtle in? I'm always so worried they may go into shock if water is too cold when you first put them in there?! 🤔

I'm looking to do a new set up for my slider and he has outgrown the tank he is now. I have a pond outside, but I want to do one for him so that way I can cover it and know he won't get out. But I don't have a lot of money to spend on it. I keep going back and forth on either upgrading the tank or doing something like this for summer. When winter hits though then he has to come in. Any suggestions
In the grand scheme of things this was pretty cheap for a 400 gallon turtle pond.
