@@anthonylepore516 no that’s not true. If it’s riverbed sand, u can buy it anywhere, it is safe for turtles bc a lot of turtles like soft shell turtles burrow in the sand. Besides, some ppl don’t feed turtles in the tank bc turtles are very messy eaters bc it’ll just messy the water quicker

I am so happy that you guys lowered the water. I had the same experience with my slider. He was not comfortable in his new bin. Comes to find out he was not acclimated to the depth of the water. Once I reduced the water level he was happy go lucky. Now I gradually increase his water level as he grows. 🐢Tony's home🐢 look awesome. You guys did an awesome job. We’ve been using Marineland and Penn-Plax Cascade filters and so far so good! Any heater will work as long as you’re following the 5 watts per gallon rule. We’re currently using Zoomed Turtletherm and Eheim
Unless you’re talking about the little white packet that I showed when rinsing the sand. That is called a BioMagnet Clarifier. It came with the bag of sand, but they also make bottles of those as well.
Do you bring Tony and his tub inside during the fall and winter? I also live in Vegas and currently have our RES in a 35 gallon tote (his old tank cracked). I'd love to put him in a 100 gallon plastic tough from Tractor Supply and place outside in the backyard permanently in an area that gets a good amount of sunlight per day. I am thinking we would definitely need a water heater and artificial light on standby for those gloomier days.
That is great! Yes we would bring Tony inside during extreme weathers. Even though we know he would be ok outside, we bring him in just to be safe. But just this winter we got him a bigger heater and he's been ok staying outside 😀
Tony is squirtles real form lol. And if u wanted you could buy like an extra little surrounding tub/something to put the tub inside of to help It bend less. :) Edit: I am watching the video and just saw u did what I commented lol
Glass aquariums sometimes have like a plastic bar that goes across the top to kind of brace the tank. Im wondering if you attached a small piece of wood across the top of the tubs if it would hold the sides in better?
He will be very healthy and happy outside. So nice to see good turtle owners!! You can make a wooden frame to stop the plastic tub bowing out.

Buy a box of screws,2x4s wood, impact or drill and wow you could build a tub with structure 😂
Mine never bend from the water.. i use the same tubs . Also i only have to clean the tub once a month. Its much nicer than a glass aquarium.

We got it at Home Depot! Almost any hardware store should have them though.
Why not just build a brace using 2x4s ?

you can try to tie a rope around the tub for support so it doesn't bow out.
