  • This week Si sits down with one of Celtic’s most recent cult heroes, the technically gifted winger, Paddy McCourt.
Great laughs in this one as Paddy recounts his unorthodox professional career which led his pathway to the club he always supported as a boy in Glasgow. From injuries derailing his start in British Football with Rochdale to making the most of the social life back Derry and eventually the dream come true of ending up at Celtic Park.
Hilarious stories from inside the Celtic dressing room, team nights out and of course how he managed to develop as an important first team player after getting to grips with a new level of professional training! You’ll enjoy this one!

The Bogside Baggio, the Muff magician and the Derry Pele all rolled into one. Unreal natural ability. If he maximised his potential then I genuinely think he would have won Champions Leagues medal etc at the likes of Man utd or Barcelona.
Sounds like a great guy too.

Paddy was spot on with his Stephen Kenny prediction. Kenny took Dundalk to the Europa league and now he's got the Ireland job

Great interview. I remember the game at Ibrox well. Paddy went through one on one in the second half right in front of the Broomloan. What a moment that could have been!

Most laid back fella about lol - scored a wonder goal for Northern Ireland at Windsor park one night - think he probably underachieved cause he had skill to burn but hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard as the saying goes .

The guy could just ghost by players like they weren't there. Genius on the ball. When you have a talent like McCourt, as he said. Put a ball at his feet he will train for 5 hours. Why the insistence on training without the ball is a really strange one in football. Fitness over skills is why there aren't as many entertainers anymore. One player beats two men these days and it's wow look at that. It used to be every 5 mins with dribblers on the wing in every team.

What a player Pat was, his brief time at Rovers was a joy to watch.
I was pleased he made it at Celtic.
If his fitness was par with other professionals he could have played for Bacelona or Madrid
