I love how your quilt turned out! I am going to try to do this block soon! Thank you!
thank you so much. I appreciate it!
Wow, this is great! I've got so much leftover donated fabric from making masks last year and I just couldn't settle on the right pattern for a scrap quilt. I love your rainbow quilt so much I'm going to strive to make a similar one with the assortment I have. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern!!
I’m glad you like it. It’s a fun one to make. Thanks for stopping by!
I looooove it. Thanks
Thank you!
I just found your channel today. LOVE this Disappearing Rail Fence Block. Have been looking for a new block to use in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Making multiple blocks each month in a designated color really appeals to me, and this one is a KEEPER👍👍. I really love all “disappearing” block patterns, and I haven’t seen this one before. Definitely adding to my repertoire!! Keep up the good work.
That’s awesome! So glad you like this block and quilt!
Great block. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you too! I appreciate it!
Very beautiful, love it
Thank you so much! I hope you try it out.
Love this!
Thanks so much!
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing the pattern.
I appreciate that. I hope you give it a try.
Thank you for sharing Claudia. Love this beautiful quilt pattern. Yes it may be a little touchy to sew but I believe it will be worth the work. thanks again. BTW, I am trying to make each of my 43 Grands/greatgrands a queen size quilt to leave behind when I leave this earth. I have 22 more to make. This pattern will certainly be one of them. Thanks again.
You are so welcome! Wow! That is a lot of quilts to make and I bet they are all beautiful and will all be cherished! Have a lovely day!
I love how your quilt turned out. What fabric was used on the back?
Thanks so much. I used a backing fabric with rainbow swirls on it. I can't remember the name or maker.
Hi Claudia, I like this tutorial! Very nice block. I just found your channel. Question: What's the name of the quilt pattern in the wall hanging or quilt blocks behind you? I really like how the black compliments the colors.
Thanks so much. I appreciate that you watched. That quilt was a paper pieced block ( four of them) that I drafted many years ago. I never made it into a pattern.
@@CreatewithClaudia Thank you for replying. They are beautiful blocks too.
I like that block can you use a jelly roll
Thanks. You definitely can use 2.5" wide strips. You just need to make the length 6.5" instead.
I just discovered you, thanks for the very clear instructions.
You are so welcome! Thanks so much for watching.
I also, just discovered you and as a beginner you make everything so easy!
Hi, from Wales UK. TFS, I've never been a fan of rail fence, but I absolutely love this, going to raid the scrap mountain now! Thank you xx
Have fun and thanks for watching! If you make some and post on Instagram make sure to tag me #createwithclaudia so I can see your work. Also, if you want, you can join my facebook group for this scrap series and post a picture there. I am looking forward to seeing all of the versions people come up with. Here's that group if you are interested: facebook.com/groups/workingourscrapsoff
Never heard of the disappearing rail fence. Sure am glad I've heard of it now. It is gorgeous. Do you always put the white in the center?
You can try whatever colors in the strips. I consider the white in this version the anchor color and I am working one where I used black scraps as the anchor instead of the white. A more browns and golds version. Glad you like the block. I'm going to be making more of these since it is such a great scrap buster. Thanks for watching!
My husband gets angry when I am sewing by hand while watching TV, and all of a sudden I say, “oops! Can’t find my needle!”
Oh that happens to me sometimes. It’s better now with the needle minder. Thanks for watching!!!
Nice to know I'm not the only wife with an easy to anger husband!
Thank you for saying you don't worry about the bump in the center.
Stunning quilt!
Beautiful quilt! I always thought the rail fence block was kind of boring, but this really elevates the block. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome! So glad you like it and I hope you give it a try. Thanks.
That’s exactly what I was about to post - the whole thing!
Oh thank you for saying you can’t do the twirling seam trick! I can’t do it either and I felt like I must the only one. You redeemed me!
Awesome. I thought I was the only one. I just can’t figure it out. Thanks for watching!
This is GORGEOUS! Your rainbow gradation is masterful! So happy to find you!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it!
Gracias por compartir, del bloque que se ve en la pared, tienes video, me encanta los que se ve en 3d, no soy experta en Patchwork, solo una aficionada.
That is gorgeous. You've done a wonderful job. Definitely a keeper.
You are very kind. Thank you so much!
Love the block. Will definitely be making it! But I'm going to use 2.5" strips as I have a bin full.
Great idea! This is an easy one to resize. Just remember to resize the length too so get that square shape. Thanks so much for the comment and for watching. I appreciate it! If you post on Instagram, tag me #createwithclaudia so I can see how your block turns out!
Me too. I have tons of rolls of them
How long would you make them for the 2.5” strips?
@@janicek2860 make your strips 6.5” to get a square.
@@valeriemurray3469 thank you 😊
Just found your channel from chat with Yvette and the other quilters. Love this quilt and willl be make this in batiks.

I really appreciate that. That quilt always makes me smile. Thanks for watching!
Can 2 1/2” strips work with this beautiful Quilt you have designed? I would love to make one for myself.
Jeanette Lawrence using 2 1/2 inch squares is mentioned in the previous comments
Que elegante combinación de colores. Me encantó. Gracias por la enseñanza. 💯💯💯💯💯😍😍😍😍😍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thanks so much. Gracias!
Your "scrap" quilt is simply beautiful!
Many thanks. I appreciate it!
I want to make this. Can you come and help? I can assure you I will mess it up. I learn better working in a one on one setting.
The quilt is so perfect!
I'm sure you will do fine. Just take your time and practice a bit. Thanks for watching
Tysm for this video. I'm back to making quilts & wanted a different rail fence pattern. This is perfect!!! New sub now!!

Hola y Gracias! Bienvenidas to my channel! I'm so glad you are here!
My daughter wants to buy this particular quilt in the tutorial. Would you sell it to me? I don’t quilt. I just watch the tutorials.
Oh that’s so nice of you to ask. That quilt is not for sale. But thanks for asking and for watching!
Love, LOVE, L O V E this awesome block! I love to make scrappy quilts and will certainly put this one on my To Do list😁
Thanks for great tutorial😎
Awesome! You are so welcome and thanks for watching.
Just watched my 1st tutorial - Disappearing Rail Fence - from your channel "Create with Claudia" ... Loved it.
Awesome and I’m so glad you watched! I hope you give the block a try! 🤗 Happy New Year!
Loved this pattern ..I am going to sew it for sure
That’s great. I’m glad you like the block.
When you have a fat seam like that, put a hot iron on it, then hit it with a clapper board it will be way flatter.
Good tip! Thanks.
Love this technique. Thanks for sharing. Recently started quilting, so don't have many scraps.
Thank you for watching and I hope you make lots of these blocks!
Beautiful block, love this! It looks so difficult but actually pretty easy! Thank you!
Glad you liked it and I hope you give it a try. Thanks for watching!
What a lovely block! I would like to use 2 and a half strips so maybe 6 inch strips?? I lovely zappy dots for cross stitch but had no idea they did anything else.
To use 2 1/2” strips cut them 6 1/2” long. I’m loving my shirts too! Thanks for watching!
Love this! Your block is clever and the quilt is beautiful! I am going to try it - but no starts until I finish a few things, first, lol I will have to figure out some pressing so that seams nest. Do you quilt yourself, or send them out? Also love those leggings! Thanks for sharing.
Have fun! and I also need to finish up some projects before I start on something else. I quilt smaller pieces, but larger ones like this one I send out. Thanks for watching!
Such an adorable scrappy quilt. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome! Hope you give the block a try. Thanks for stopping by!
Wow that is clever and you rainbow quilt is a winner in my book 📕 .. thanks for sharing this lesson ..
Thanks so much. I appreciate it!
Hi Claudia. I love this quilt. It’s really unique. I’ve just made my first block. I’m going to have to buy more fabric.
Awesome, glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
I have been working on this for over a week now. Great for using up your scraps. I would like to add a couple of tips that I have found to work those points in cleaner and I think it is easier. First after I have cut the diagonal pieces I do what you did and placed them into their pairs. Then I took half of each of those blocks to the ironing board and reversed the folds so they will nest. (Just a small step to make things work together better.) I also iron open all the diagonal seams. The amazing thing happens when I do this....All the seams nest across the final seam to make the completed block. I also iron open the final seam. Happy piecing!!!!
I'm glad you like the block. Thanks for the tips and for watching!
I totally agree with the nesting and pressing open when needed! I also use a clapper and best press.
Wow, that's a beautiful quilt and I love your scrappy binding too. The colours are really fun. Thank you for sharing your scrap busters!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Love this look. I plan on trying this beautiful quilt
Please do! I am glad you like the block. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you for YET ANOTHER variety of the disappearing block family!!!
You’re welcome. Have fun making it and thanks!
WOWZER such a beautiful quilt. Thanks for your time and talent
Thank you and thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
I love your quilt! It is gorgeous. I will have to try the disappearing rail fence block.
Please do! I'm so glad you like it and thanks for stopping by!
Love this quilt! I'm going to start going through my scraps! I have a website that I'd like to share this pattern on would that be ok?
Great, I'm glad you like the block. If you share my pattern, please share a link to my video. Thanks and thanks for asking:-) . What is your website?
I love this quilt block! Will have to start cutting my scraps at 2x5 and get this made. Your quilt is beautiful!
Have fun! And if you post your quilty stuff on Instagram make sure to use the hashtag #createwithclaudia so I can see how your version of this block turns out! Thanks for watching.
Love the block but wouldn't it be easier to do 1/2 sq triangle type blocks so you wouldn't have to sew on the bias?
Thanks. One could use half square triangles but I think it would change the look a bit with the added seams along the longer outer strips. The bias seams aren’t too bad at all. When I was making this I was looking for something to jazz up a bunch of rail fence blocks I’d made. Thanks for watching. 🤗
Beautiful quilt!
Very inspiring
Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! thank you so much for watching!
Awesome directions! Thank you!

Thanks! I appreciate it!
Love the disappearing nine patch…… now I just have to try the split rail! Thank you!
Glad you like it! It’s a fun one. Thanks for watching!
I’ve used the same backing you have in this quilt
I love how you can’t tell the quilting it folds or puckers
It hides a lot of mistakes
I love that fabric. It does hide some pickers and other things😂 I like that. Thanks for watching!!!
🎉I love this block! I make charity lap and baby quilts and , wow, what a great way to use up the stash and scraps. Heading into my quilting “studio”( second becroom😂) immediately! Great video 😊
Awesome! I really appreciate it. I love this block too. Happy Quilting!
Now listen, Im your mom now. Lol you wear those adorable leggings. They are so so cute on you. Bold is beautiful and you look so so good in them. Have a great day

Wonderful! I hope they make a quilt out of it. That would be a wonderful keepsake for someone. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for putting this up. I love both quilts.
Thanks for watching. I hope you give the block a try!
This was a great experience for me..thank you..will try this one
Thanks!
Sooo beautiful!!! I'd like to make one in all the colors and also the navy cuz it's so striking. Both are so pretty. I don't think I'll ever get all the quilts made I want to. Lol. Thanks for the idea.🥰
Thanks so much. I know that feeling. I have loads of quilts I want to make, but probably won't ever get too. Glad you like this block.
Quilt is beautiful!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it!
That is a cleverly made quilt. Really enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much!
Love this!!
I’m so glad. Thanks for all of your kind comments!
That is amazing!!
Thanks!!
Could you start with 2 1/2 × 6 1/2 ? Of course the block sizes at the different steps be larger. Uncut rail fence 6 1/2 square. Cut and sewn single block be 6. 4 put together be 11 1/2. Was my math correct?
You could and then 4 together would be 12 1/2” unfinished, 12” finished. I hope you give it a try!
Lovely block! The RAINBOW layout is fantastic.
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun to make. I appreciate the kind comments!
Love it! Love the blouse and leggings
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
Beautiful block and quilt. Thank you for sharing
Glad you like it! I really appreciate the kind comments.
Hello Claudia. I really enjoyed this video. Your quilt is gorgeous. I would love to make this block, but don't see a link to the pattern. Do you have one you share? Thank you for your videos. By the way, my name is SHaron Luedeman, Fred is my husband.
Hi Sharon. Here’s a link to the tutorial. www.createwithclaudia.com/2021/07/how-to-make-a-disappearing-rail-fence-quilt-block/. In the article, directly beneath the video of the scrap block, is a link to a downloadable pattern glad you like it and happy quilting. Thanks for stopping by!
Beautiful quilt Claudia and thanks so much for sharing!!! 🌝
You are so welcome and thank you.
WOW! I had not heard of this block before either. It's so cool!!!
Great! It’s a fun block. Thanks for stopping by.
I don't like thinking about scrappy quilts but I think I would like making this one. I think I'll start taking my colors similar to those and prepping them. Then I'll look for another one of your suggestions like the contemporary sq (#8?) For some other colors that would work for this color way. Great job.
I’m glad you like this block and the square one. I hope you give them a try. Thanks for watching!
What a great pattern & quilt! Love it
Thanks so much!
If I were making these with jelly roll strips, would I cut them 6.5” in length?
Thank you for the new idea for a disappearing quilt block!
Thanks for watching and yes cut 6 1/2” length with 2 1/2” jelly roll 🥰
Do you have a pattern for the rail fence quilt? Love the one you made.
I don’t have a pattern for the quilt, just the blocks. Glad you like it. Thanks.
I have been quilting for over 30 years and have never seen this block. Your quilt is just stunning! Thanks so much for the tutorial. I look forward to making this block. 👏👏
Thanks so much. I appreciate it and I’m glad you like the block.
I am new to quilting and the only thing I make is 2 inch Dresden coasters . But, the more I watched this particular video, the more I felt compelled to try. So, last night, at 3 am, when I woke up from a sound sleep, your tutorial popped into my mind. I got up and made my first square. But I’m a cook not a baker , so I didn’t measure exactly and I have a wonky invisible rail square, and I sort of like it. My fir square took my an hour and numerous measuring. How long did it take you to make this quilt ? I’m not sure I can last if you say a year or two!!! Hahaha
I want to thank you for showing the cutting carefully, because I of course, got it wrong the first time I cut those angles.
I would love to buy a single square from you not with a backing or binding, just so I could show my friends how beautiful it can and should be. Please Keep up with your tutorials, they make me happy and give me the desire to continue trying new quilt patterns💖
It took a while to make the quilt. I’m really glad you gave the block a try. Keep practicing and it’ll be great in no time. Thank you for your kind comments and enjoy your weekend.
I have tons of left over jelly roll strips (2-1/2 inch width) that I would like to use. What length do you think this would need to work out ... I am thinking 6 inches or 6-1/2 inches .... not sure what it would be squared up to.... going to try it out when I get home.
I’m glad you are trying it out. If you are using 2 1/2” strips then the length to cut is 6 1/2”. So your block will be 6 1/2” square. Thanks for watching!
Your quilt is gorgeous! I wonder what it would look like if the center strip was white? I want to make a small throw for a neighbor who escaped from Estonia right after WWII. The Estonian flag has 3 colors, blue, white and black. It looks like a rail fence block with the white in the center. Guess I should sit at my machine and experiment, eh?
Thank you so much! I bet the quilt will be lovely!
I have found this block works better if all seams are pressed open. I also ended up with 8" blocks instead of 8-1/2" blocks. I used my quilting foot with the guide so not sure where I went wrong.
Good tip. I’m a creature of habit and really love pressing to one side. 🤗 Not sure why it came out smaller though. But if they all turn out the same size then it should work out. What colors are you using?
Wow! totally amazing!
Thanks so much! I hope you give the block a try.
Love love love your quilt!!!! I love the block that will be the one I make next!! Thank you so much!! Love your channel!
You are so welcome and thanks so much for watching. Enjoy making the block!
I really like this block. I am making a charity quilt and wanted to do the regular rail fence, I have strips sewn and will cut to size, it will make a great charity quilt with this design. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching. This is a fun block but I love the rail fence too!
I wish you had shown how you put the blocks together.
That’s Awesome, I think the scrapy touch enhances the beauty of it.
Thanks so much. I love a scrappy look in pretty much anything. I appreciate the comment.
I love your scrap block!!! And the shirts, too!!!!
Thanks so much! I hope you give the block a try!
I have made a block or two of disappearing 4 patch and 9 patch. However, I love disappearing the rail fence , thanks for sharing.
I hope you give it a try. Thanks for watching!
Really like this block design and the whole quilt is amazing!!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it!

Thank you. I always felt frustrated that I could never clip those darn seams. Makes me feel better it’s not just me!
I hear you. Those seams drive me crazy and I still don't clip. Thanks so much for watching!
