Audio Assault stuff sounds great for the money, but sometimes the overall experience can be “you get what you pay for”. They cost so little and sound good that you can’t go far wrong either way!
@@cmd_f5 Yeah for a gear noob like me AmpLocker is such a fun and easy way to combine different effects and amps. I just load some better external IR and have so many ways to create great tones. I don't really care if its totally accurate to the real amp, lots of variety is important! I hope that they add their bass plugins like Klank to it (and even more bass amps).
The issues seem to be mostly fixed, loading up the 3d cabs is easier and so is loading each sim. I had to reinstall windows 2 times recently(first had a bad install for some system files) and they made it so much easier in just the few days before the reinstalls@@cmd_f5
Great vid ! Audio Assault are my go-to plugins, I gave up on Overloud and Guitar Rig. Please, what's the input level you set for the amp sim in regard of your audio interface's Hi-Z input ? Thank you by advance
Based on the screenshot it looks like you are using the old non-Amp Locker version of Shibalba. Like with all the new Amp Locker versions of the amps I notice a difference in sound, so it seems they reworked the modeling somewhow. Which version do you prefer?
Currently I prefer the standalone versions, Amp Locker is crashing a lot for me and I prefer to have less clutter. I’ll try again once the software stabilises a bit. Curious if they sound different
Did you forget to include Helix Native Bogner Shiva (German Mahadeva) version or is it beacuse Helix model is the original version with less gain compare to the 20th anniversary version?
Yeah, I tried it but it simply sounds too different (it’s based on the earliest/original circuit. No bright cap and very muffled sounding. I don’t like it at all, so I was surprised how much better the 20th Anniversary models sound
Amazed by how well the audio assault for the cost stands up to the other 2

Another plus is that they don't require iLok and can be used on Linux
@@alabamaman9100 Truth! Ilok is cancer.
I'm waiting for AA to fix some of the ampLocker issues and I'll be a fan of them again.

Shibalba sounds so great, sounds just as good as the Neural DSP honestly.
this is one of my favorite amps!!

No idea for Audio Assault, they give some BS answers whenever I ask. I use 11.4dBu but I wouldn’t expect a great deal of accuracy
@@eds4754 at least they have the merit to make it sound great in the midst of their artistic inaccuracy 😁
Thanks for the answer, and for the time and dedication you put in bringing us that game-changing precision
@@micoamazonico4917 ha they sound pretty good, but you get what you pay for. Can’t go wrong for what they cost though!
New Neural is great ! , but audio assault one is on pair, and proudly mexican developers 🇲🇽
I'm not a NDSP guy normally but that's my fave here. Shibalba is so affordable but doesn't quite nail it to me.
I liked NDSP best here too, just a bit more cut and presence and the tone switch is handy. I’m not really a fan of the Shiva circuit though
@@eds4754 Same. The Ecstasy is more my style.
Thanks for sharing these findings!
Don't you mess with BIAS FX?
bias FX always sounded like going back 20 years to me, but I know some people like it.
@@eds4754 😮
What would be the cheapest step-up from BIAS FX in your opinion?
Wow it's so close. Neural slightly better chug but all are usable.

keep in mind that the dynamics of the AA plugin are much closer to the behavior of a real cabinet
yeah?
Was the Audio Assault one’s boost switch on?
