The easiest way to tell is from the outside, on the box. Look at 3:17. Look at the alignment of the branding on the box flap. KO has the "F" in Formers between the "R" and the "A" above. On the real figure, it's between the "A" and the "N" above. The Autobot logo sits above the "R" and the "M" on the genuine, and directly above the "M" on the KO.
I just got a G1 Optimus Prime KO just like yours and it’s absolute perfection.
The large fists and larger gun go with the grey roller and metal trailer original g1 first release version. The small gun goes with the smaller fists and dark blue roller later released version . Your authentic optimus has the wrong fists. The knock off is just a mix of both versions.
yeah dude, I have the exact same replica from china. but you wanna know something, its really awesome. and only $50 bucks! man, I would definitely say get the KO version and pay wayyy less, then get the real deal and pay so much more. awesome toy though! I love mine.

I bought the KO from China too for $35.00 off ebay and its awesome !! Also picked up one of the many giant Devastator figures for $80.00 and it was awesome too and very well made.KO Devastator towers over the KO Prime figure !!

I just bought a KO G1 Prime at a Flea market and came back to your video from years ago to make sure it was a KO.
if anyone else wants to buy an original Optimus Prime from the '80s (no re-issue, Ko etc) then here's an example what the prices can be.
MLC (mind loose and complete)
-everything is complete save the manual and box, but in good condition: worth around 65-75 bucks.
MIB (mind in box)
-everything is complete including the manual and box. good condition: worth around 125-130 bucks.
MISB (mind in sealed box)
-never removed from its box, depending on the condition of the box its worth 280 bucks and up.
keep in mind that Optimus Prime isn't a rare figure, even unsealed in its box it's only worth about 300 bucks. on Ebay you can find some selling figures for 1000s of bucks. I saw a Megatron (claimed to be never opened) for over 2000. yet a MISB Megatron is only worth 300. the only figure from Transformers worth almost 2000 is an MISB Fortress Maximus (worth 1600 bucks and up) this because its a rare figure.

I bought the same one. Probably from the same seller. Mine also came without the silver strips on the cab. They weren't included either on the stickers sheet which doesn't surprise me as the original was sold with only those stickers applied. Loved the review man. Thank you.

The stickers are also ko. You can tell because on the original the transformers logo is off centered over the M where the ko is right above the M
Nice comparison review,Just wanted to know on the KO instructions booklet if you check on the page where it has the step 2 page,is the small picture showing the arms being pulled out in transformation is the (FIG.A)missing?Because on the original vintage instructions is has it under the small square pic.Just want to see if its the same on yours.Thanks

take it from an actual 80's kid: I'm pretty sure the white sticker on Optimus' chest was pre-applied.
as for the stickers: yellow back.
as for the box: the KO's usually have the picture of the character too far away from the right side of the box. you can tell when the image disappears about an inch from the edge of the box. and not AT the box's edge. (didn't notice that here)
I think Ko's are cool, they attempted to recreate how the figures were actually sold. I wouldn't mind getting a few, but not for 100s of bucks naturally. but: Hasbro and Takara sell the original figures in their original boxes and with original manuals please! (they can still update the copyright date)
in 20 years, the chinese ko will be the "vintage" too ahhaa, well, I think the chinese made them in the beginning to make it pass as a vintage g1, but with the time the demand is high and they still make them and yes, we know we get a ko but, WHAT THE HECKKK?.. hahaha its basically made with the same mold than reissues from tru or takara from the 2000s

You got the original with the temperature sticker on the roof of Prime/under his head. Those came out when I was a kid. You touch it and it should show the autobot logo, it's the one major difference I noticed as you were unboxing it.. Plus is his chest made from metal along with his lower legs for the vintage one? If so, then I don't think you got janked.

I know this video was made a long time ago, but do you know what seller you got this from?
I have the original and ko, 1st thing you notice when you compare before taking it out is that the trailer portion on the KO has a slightly darker grey. 2nd thing is in the original vintage release the cab portion under the windshield the silver stickers are present and don't need to be applied, whereas the KO doesn't have them present. Nice review overall man cheers :)

Benjamin Lagos yeah. stickers are bad on the cab so i bought repro labels but overall its awsome. of chourse a few tight tires but thats to be expected. it even fixes the issue ehith the screw hole in the head. atleast on mine...
over all if you don't have a g1 prime i say buy a original or a ko.
so is there any difference between a reissue and a KO? or is that the same thing??
A reissue is officially re-released by Hasbro or Takara. It's subject to Hasbro and/or Takara quality control, as well as relevant toy and consumer laws.
A KO is a counterfeit made by a different company. You get what you get.
