- Two to three times a year we have to go in and clean the sand out from under the barns. In this video we first start off by pumping manure into the lagoon then the guys go in with a skid steer and scoop out the sand in the under barn storage.
Looks like that would have been a good day for Dirty Jobs show. Mike Rowe woulda loved cleaning out under the barn.
You know you got a big operation when you can drive a skidsteer UNDER your farm.
Thank you for taking the time to really explain how your manure system works. That's neat how you can drive under the barn to clean it out
I just love the way your son is watching, "soaking" it all in. No better class room! Reminds me with my dad 50 years ago. "The good old days" Thanks for the vids.
Thanks for standing out in that nasty weather to film that for us. I don't know why but the sh*t pit is absolutely fascinating
Holy shizzziitt that was a good video. Like seeing the Holsteins, I remember all the different personalities of the small herd we milked years ago. Thanks Andy! Jim.
Me too, mid 1970's in Eastern Kentucky.
I am amazed at modern large farm manure management systems. When I watch 10th Gen and your video's, I think back to my days in a 40 cow barn with gutter cleaners and pitchforks for calf pens.
Those were the simpler days
Cows seem very calm and they sure seem like they know who you are Andy. I like that is what I am here for to pick up stuff.
There`s never a dull moment around your place is it , cause there`s always something going on. Always enjoy seeing what ya`ll are doing there !
Thank god they came out with cab skid steers we had rain suits great Tour thanks
What a Operation you have. Love it...
Yes, it's quite an operation. I don't know how Andy can keep everything straight but Andy is good at fixing stuff
Signs of a good farm. Cows aren’t scared.
Good video Andy. I'm glad some things never change. Walk down the aisle and the cows get up and take a dump-splattering everywhere! You probably never noticed it lol! Thanks for learnin' us some interesting things.
Hey Andy just wanted to say a huge thanks to you for taking time out of ur busy day to make these videos and keep us entertained im sure its not easy you are by far my favorite farmer UA-cam channel don't tell the other farmers
Thanks
Thanks Andy for another informative video always like watching the channel
Beautiful day. Wind blowing, moving just enough snow to hit you in the face and make you realize you are alive. Reminds me of growing up in Nebraska.
Really enjoy your channel. I'm originally from the UK and was involved with dairying there, then lived in New Mexico for a while and cut feed for the dairies. Now I'm in New Zealand and have been involved with permanent outdoor grazing farms. The different types of milk production for each area are really interesting. Keep up the good work.
thats real dedication for your subscribers andy when you walk under the crap slots, great video thanks
What a hardy group…grew up on a farm up in the northern states 1500head of beef eaters, the snow brings back memories, cold ,damp, wind and continuous fixing,,,u
Yes the spreading liquid manure, cutting grains, hay, corn. You and others that do this get my upmost respect,,expenses expenses and more expenses,,,dad retired young from it all, glad he did ,no more stress , him and mom lived into his late 90s..He ask me once if I was hurt by his selling out ,,told him I enjoyed working next to him every day ,,but going from working 7 days year around to just 40 hr. Weeks was like a vacation ,,,thanks for you and all others getting food to our tables ..
60 years ago I spent my youth sholving chicken manure in the Summer and other chores in the freezing winter but my hat is off to you guy. I would never attempt to one up you on stories.
Another great video. You have to know how much we appreciate what you and your team do to keep the milk flowing. That is just tough bull work and thank you. Thank you!!
Nice to see that stream come out the outlet end.. can breath a sigh of relief.. LOL
This looks like a job much better done in August in high humidity. This reminds me of my grandfather shoveling chicken manure in July with just under shorts and boots on.
Thanks for taking us into the alley.
Andy the master mechanic, fixer of anything and manure inspector haha
Manure is a lot of work...must save you money in the long run. Interesting in learning the process...never to old for me to learn. Stay safe. 👍
It’s amazing what you guys have to do so people have milk and other food products thank you for everything and thank you to every farmer for what you do the world doesn’t work without you guys god bless everyone
Great video. Love to watch Andrew and how interested he is in everything
Andy, your wall is pissin all over the place in that lagoon. LOL
My grand dad, when he was still alive, taught me, pump it 3/4 full of grease, then top it out with 80w-90w oil. If the seal is out, this always allowed us to finish out before it ran out again and destroyed itself. Some of the old tricks can still save expenses on repairs.
That's a lot of digging. This is one thing many don't understand. Just because harvest season is done, doesn't mean the work just stops. We had an 8 stall dairy barn, 4 stations on 2 walls, we hand milked. Cleaning the floor was done with an old scoop shovel, broom and a garden hose. That was one chore everyone hated but, it had to be done, daily. Great video as always, cheers :)
Slurry management is brilliant! Those bobcat can get anywhere. Brilliant video 💪🏴
Your cows are clean and comfortable unlike the help on a winter day...well done
Only you can make pumping cow crap interesting!!! Things look pretty chilly up there Keep em coming
All of that and it still looks better than backing a spreader in on the drive floor scooping n pitching it on the spreader from the drops. . .
Good job Boss Man, thanks for sharing.
Great Video on how the system works. I was raised around gutter setups. That seem really efficient. As always thanks.
Thanks for showing the flow comming out of pipe Tom from Nebraska
Nice looking cows and barn. Lots of positive comments. Thanks for showing them off.
You guys are some hard workers! Always got something to take care of. 🚜 👍🏻
Enjoy watching your videos from Ireland 🇮🇪
Nice how clean the cows are !! If I'm in the skid loader in the tunnel I surely want the scraper turned off !!! Thanks for the interesting look !
Thanks for a look at the cows. They look very well cared for. Good job Hourigans
Thanks for showing the barn and how sand was used for bedding. I grew up on a farm in SE Tennessee in the 60's and 70's and our cows grazed in pastures. Temps are much more moderate, easier on the cows.
Thanks, great video! Love seeing those “Happy Cows”!
Quote of the day....."Why I'm here". Your the best Andy!! Keep up the good work!!.
This is a very impressive setup. 👍👍
Awesome video, it’s nice seeing every part of an operation that is your size.
I really enjoy your usual content Andy, but it was great to see the cows today! They're in good order.
This one was great! First, put some grease in it! 2nd, when I was andrews age I too was driving tractors but they were a Minne R and a case 600, just a small 30 head farm. Finally, thank you for showing cows. I understand its dicey. They look great! Clean and healthy!
Sure has came a long way from the pitch fork and scoop shovel of my days cleaning the gutters. The only time you have to handle the manure is when you work on the equipment. We had to manual handle it from the time it came out of the factory. Any way you could show the milking process and your calf feeding and barn, and would love to see the milk room set up. Old dairyman are always interested in stuff like that. Lol
This is the soul of America right here, these guys do the dirty work that keeps the food on the table---if people only knew....amazing...
Great video Andy. Must be a relief getting close to done with the sand and pit maintenance.
Some good looking girls Andy! Well fed and calm.
I am impressed your 🐄 s are really clean What amazes me is you don’t mind getting in to the middle of every thing You’re employees don’t act like they are walking on pins and needles around you thank you for showing me that there are employers out there that care listen and treat your employees like a family member.
Sure enjoyed seeing the cows. Thank you for the video boss
All their hoofs look great. . Your cows look very clean and healthy. Nice to see.
Wow! What a thrill ride! Right thru the manure tunnel.
Amazing looking cow so healthy and clean. Real top operation with animals that well cared for! also thanks for clearing up why no milking video, would love to have seen your parlour in action but understand why you cant
Why cant they? Or wont they. Link to a video where they talk about it?
I'm not sure which video Andy said about it. Something to do with animal rights nutcases and the company Andy sells his milk to
Great video Andy👍 Good stuff. I just put a reman transmission in a 8430 John Deere mixer tractor with 25,000 hours. It still runs really good little engine work turbo, injectors water pump Thank you sir
Hi andy keep the videos coming we love them here in Scotland.
that alley under the barn would be a bad place for a skid steer breakdown...nice video Andy
The cows are very clean, it's professional
nice job guys
Very interesting video thanks for your hard work on the farm
Good to hear you reminisce about Deere hydro push spreaders... wore out 3 of them before I had to start with slingers, they were good spreaders
No secrets today lol . Farmer day never done great videos thank you Andy
Great video. Neat to see how that was cleaned out and the cows at the end 😎👍🏻
Great video Andy awesome dairy farm
Impressive setup, I knew the manure went under ground but never knew the the size of the tunnel and the how bad build up the sand could get..
nice looking cattle and very very clean also. clean cattle makes for clean udders . thanks for the video
Very impressive setup
Thanks for sharing
Awesome looking animals so clean!!
Its like the tunnel of doom LOL, nice video
We never used those cable systems, but later when I started working in another industry I heard an interesting story from our rigging salesman. He sold cable to a farm that used a system like that and it recommended aircraft grade cable for the system. Well, the cable only has a certain service life and the farmer was replacing it often enough that the opted for a considerably cheaper lower grade cable. Turned out the cheaper cable lasted a lot longer because, while it was weaker, it was also more pliable and could handle the constant bending around pulleys better.
Cows looking good Andy. 👍
those cows look happy and look good, Great Vid
Andrew us always there watching and learning
PTO, you should get a guard fitted. I had a friend at agricultural college lost his arm in a farm accident.
Static machinery is a far higher risk. Do a search on PTO accidents, you will get the shaft gaurd fixed.
Got my New sweatshirt in today. Love it. Bonus on the back. Didn’t realize there was design on the back.
I recommend it to everyone. Well worth the money.
Do you go through tea spring?
Yes I believe I did.
Was that the correct site to go through.
Sometimes when I watch you working, I think I could see me doing it. And then there are times like this when I say Hell No!!!
They supply a large amount of manure. That sand looked deep. Great looking cows.
nothing more fun than working on manure equipment when its wet , cold , and windy. hate to say it -- been there done that
Another good video Sir.
Great video!!
That's alot of poop.lol!! Great content as always keep them coming. Seeya at the next one. Be safe!

Quote of the day"thats why I'm here"
It a Schitty job but somebody gotta do it.
If you have ever had to manage it is lesson number one! Trust but verify!
Was that a alley scraper cable?
Another nice video thanks
thamks for showing that, it's very intresting
You are great 👍 👌. I realy like watching you 🙏
Bet the lady of the house loves to see u coming to the door with those boots after walking through the pit 😂😂
You got to be kidding most farm houses have a mud room, that is where you change your heavily soiled or greasy clothes and I bet you wash them yourself right away, gone are the days of washing clothes once a week lol My Mom sometimes made us change in the garage if we smelled real bad.
Awesome video!
Very interesting 👍🏼
Thats quite a big operation you have very different from what I worked growing up.
Tell your worker with the banged up hand the coflex vet wraps work good for keeping casts and bandages clean. I would wrap mine every day then just unwrap it at the end of the day
Hey Awesome Video's u do. You really get into your Work. Awesome Farm Setup.. If you ever get a chance do a inventory on how many Tractor's and Truck's you Own
Livestock looks healthy and content. 👍👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Some buddy has to do it right....here's to the hard working farmer thank you.
