I'm not a Freemason but I do lecturer with other lecturers to confer all 11 degrees in the Protestant Royal Black Institution which has a Royal Blue Apron with a compass and square with the capital letter G in the centre at the bottom in the centre that a Sir Knight (member) is entitled to wear after he has been initiated into a a certain degree.
They are specifically talking about organized freemasonry, aka the founding of the UGLE in 1717. Freemasonry as a concept is much older, you are correct.
@@richardkidd21 The thing is, REGULAR ie "official" lodges, are governed by Andersons Constitutions, which state that Freemasonry is for men only. Yes, there are women who CALL themselves Freemasons, but are not. They are not officially recognised as Freemasons by the United Grand Lodge of England...UGLE. They have almost identical regalia, ritual, aims and principles...but are NOT Freemasons. That said, we have a fantastic relationship with them. They are all great ladies and in fact often use our facilities for their larger meetings. Another "in fact" is that there are plenty of REGULAR Masons who are married to females who are members of female "Masonic" orders.
❤I really enjoyed this entire video thank you.
