    You should do a Kibbe analysis for shapes & cuts of clothing best for your body- would love to see which one you are!

    High contrast looks best on me. The first tip off was makeup. I LOVE deep lippies. Burgundies, deep berries, dark reds, chocolate browns, etc are my jam. Noticing that cued me towards contrasting my outfits more. The second I started doing that, I loved my outfits way more. Color blocking goes along with that. If the contrast isn’t as strong, color blocking the colors I’m wearing also looks really good on me. Finding that out was such a style game changer for me 😊

      Hey Mandy! This makes so much sense :) I think im the same where I love deep lippies but I didn’t quite make the connection between that and clothes till my session. Thank you for sharing ❤❤

    I'd definitely love more content like this! This was so interesting and helpful. Also, I really appreciate how detailed your editing is--makes learning the things you share a lot easier 🥰
    I'm not completely sure yet as to what colors truly suit me, but so far, with makeup, I've discovered that anything warm instead of neutral-warm completely washes me out. Same with too cool. I think I fall somewhere neutral slightly leaning cool.

    The contrast effect was so interesting! Maybe that's why some of my outfits look better than others 🤔 Also, totally agree about the tip about earrings! Noticed that myself with long earrings. Been wearing them lots because my face is rounder but recently bought some simple silver hoops and they have been my go-to! Even though they do make my face a bit wider it kinda works - it's like they're matching my face shape instead of "combating" it. But even so, longer earrings are perhaps a bit more flattering.. And I've always been drawn to dark colours, mainly because my hair is black and dark colours resonated more because of that - light colours would be such a big contrast! But recently I've tried to incorporate more light colours like you have with dark, and it feels fresh and new but realized that darket colours are more my thing (also mainly because I'm always sooo scared to stain light clothes! So they make me walk on eggshells.. 😅)

      Since my session I’ve started to notice more and more that contrast does play a big part for me :) maybe round earrings are a universally flattering thing then? Makes sense as hoops are so flattering ❤❤

    Interesting, I see you as a cool-tone, high-contrast, or Winter. But, I would put you in deep Summer Colors because your skin is so very light. You might want to have a few analyses done by other systems to compare the results, I’m not convinced those colors are right for you.

    I think you may be olive undertone! I would take a look at it, it's a bit tricky compared to warm/cool, olive actually has bits of both. Thanks for sharing 😊

      I lean more cool though than warm, but I find I can wear both warm and cool colors and you are flattered by alot of the same things!
      Omg I tried on this shade of yellow yesterday at the thrift store, and I can freaking wear yellow?! Omgad I had no idea. Lol colour is so dang fun to explore.

    Wow, a lot to take away from this :3 I can see that lot of my regular choices and foregoings - colourwise - make sense after the points you made here. I never feel confident when I force myself to wear a colour just because I like the colour on its own, but then disregard how my own colours will play out alongside it. But maybe there usually exists a particular shade in that colour that may work if we consider the undertones, saturation, richness like you said, etc. So knowing what nuances to look for definitely takes away a lot of the guess work. And even hair colour and jewellery play a huge role! We often overlook that and wear an item that we really love, but it's like the item doesn't love us back 😁

    • @DailyHelenJ
      @DailyHelenJ  2 роки тому +1

      I’m learning too that even a subtle change in undertone shade can make a colour we love work for us :) I think that definitely makes me happy because we can wear almost any colour this way :) thank you so much for watching ❤❤

    I use belts and other types of accessories to create contrast. For example, a dark color belt on an otherwise light toned outfit will create some contrast around my waist, still dividing it in some way.

    The contrast thing is super interesting. I am definitely low contrast, but I love wearing a black top and a beige bottom das my jam, when I wear where I guess I fall on the spectrum, I feel very bland. I do gravitate toward dark colours in general, it's probably more preference than anything.
    I'll try some more low contrast outfits and see how I feel in them. Should be interesting! I love the food for thought in this.
    I love the idea of getting a color analysis. I just refuse to pay the price for it lol 💚

    Late to the party, I know. Yes, colour analasys helped me a great deal. I am warm, low contrast and since I wear a lot of my good colours, no one told me anymore that I look tiered or pale, not even when I was in hospital for a minor surgery. I know black really isn't my colour but I still keep a few black tops and black coats around, in case I have to wear them for a funeral or when I travel a longer distance. Other then that, it helped me finding pieces I love and want to keep for a long time very quickly and you don't have to think a lot about mixing and matching because everything in your colour pallette will match anyway.

  • @kimberlyperrotis8962

    Please don’t ever color your beautiful dark brown hair, at least until you go gray later in life. I’ve noticed how lightening it throws your coloring off. I think this is why you got an incorrect color typing as warm-toned, the artificial warmth in your hair color. Mother Nature is always the best colorist, in my opinion, and why go to the trouble and expense of bleaching hair to look less beautiful? When you begin to go gray, you might want to cover it, depending on your age at that time, and that means monthly appointments, put that off as long as possible.

    I didn’t know anything about the contrast thing. It was interesting and I seem to mostly wear low contrast which already matches my features anyway. I had my colours done back in the early nineties and found to be a summer and again I feel like I was already wearing these colours anyway except for a couple like lemon and green. I still don’t wear lemon but do try to wear more green.

  • @SF-uk7ci

    I heard you reference color analysis when you talked about your berry knit sweater project. I appreciate your style advice but I subscribed bc we have similar coloring and I have never been able to tell if im cool or warm based. All the analysts I’ve found in the states so far are white so as a Pacific Islander I don’t trust them. I’ve been wondering if we’re both dark winters or autumns but haven’t heard of this modern system yet. The berry looks more cool to me but your lipstick looked more warm. This neutral red might be good for lipsticks, nails, and leather goods instead of clothes?

  • @QHuda_A
    @QHuda_A 2 роки тому +3

    This was informative, color analysis is extremely beneficial.
    I find it curious though, that the seasonal color system (from the concept wardrobe) you shared on the screen has no women of color at all. How exactly would a professional decide what looks good on you without considering someone's skin tone, complexion and undertone.

    • @sunskyemist
      @sunskyemist 2 роки тому

      I noticed that too. Disappointing.

    • @Biancaleigh693
      @Biancaleigh693 2 роки тому

      The system can be used on all skin tones. It is bs that other skin types were not represented but from all the videos I have watched. It is very easy to use it for darker skin tones. However if you have olive skin. It needs to be adapted to fix it since olive skin do not have a cool or warm undertones. So not blue/yellow. They (I am olive) have green so it's hard. The colour season system is very helpful when understood. I have been studying it as best I can and I'm fairly sure I am true winter (despite being olive I cannot pull off orange or brown at all and I know I am a winter so it was a easy process of elimination).
      Undertone is the underneath skin colour not skin tone. So someone with deep skin tone can be warm while slightly tanned could be cool toned. I hope this helps.

  • @elisefox247
    @elisefox247 2 роки тому +1

    A question I would have for an analyst is whether your analysis can change by season. For example I have dark brown hair year round, but it’s high contrast with my skin in the winter, and lower contrast in the summer when my skin tans. I do feel like it affects what colors I wear in either season!

    Hi! Could you tell us where you had your color analysis done? Interested as well! Thank you!

  • @emmy8526

    The thing with color is that there are ones that look good on me (e.g. in photos) or are considered classically flattering, but they kind of hurt my eyeballs, lol? My brain rebels against them. It’s no good if it “suits” a person, if you don’t like it for whatever reason. So anyway, there’s a kind of artistic preference to personal color choice in clothing or decor that overrides any expert or consensus opinion, imo, as I think you also found.
    Always interesting to hear your thoughts about style considerations!

      Have you tried watching Trinny? She has a lot of fun with colour. I would begin with colours that challenge you a little bit. When they suit you, it's incredible and people will complement you. Don't start with the colours that are the most challenging.

    for me, I'm a true/warm autumn since I'm a redhead with a little darker than porcelain skin and I have noticed that the clothes closest to my face need to reflect my best colors (so browns greens burgundies around the face) especially when I want to wear a color thats not the best like black (I fit navy way more) also my undertone is more pink to neutral but because of my warm complexion due to hair and eyes (which are kind of orange) gold fits me more (even as a person, I find this very important, are you a rather cool or warm person, I know this is kind of vague but it works!) and for the rest just wear the colors that make you smile and you'll look your best!! Love Laura xx

    I’m low to mid-contrast (Summer) and I do love wearing outfits in that contrast range. I love light colors together, especially white, beige, and cool-tone pastels. I occasionally wear a high-contrast look for a fun different look, like white and navy or cream and black, but overall, dark colors near my face aren’t that flattering. I have very light skin, but deep-set hazel eyes and dark circles that can’t be covered up. My hair is naturally bronde, but going gray.

    The dark hair color is definitely the right color for you and the solid hair color is best for almost everybody. Highlights create a cluttered result in the face, or at least a distraction for the eye of the viewer. He cannot focus on the eyes of the woman, which is the goal of elegant appearance -according to Christian Dior.

    Hmm, I'm definitely a very obvious dark winter and I think I've always known that, more or less. However, I do think that the high contrast outfit thing can be a bit restrictive at times, especially the 12 season analysis often asks us to wear our best colours close to our faces, which would be a dark navy, dark red, black, etc. coloured top for me. However, to have a high contrast, I would need a light coloured bottom, which I definitely don't want to wear all the time so I think the contrast thing really should be explained and explored a bit more imo!

    • @jfamily6037
      @jfamily6037 2 роки тому

      If you're a dark winter, there are a lot of really pretty colours you can wear close to your face. I prefer monochrome to a sharp break at the waist, but it means looking for bottoms takes some time. (I don't want to wear black).

    I think this was really a step in the right direction for you. For example, I know that you like pale yellow, but it doesn't suit you nearly as well as some of the other colours. The two colours which you rejected -- that shade of red and that shade of green -- are worth investigating. And yes, the darker hair colour is best for you. The other thing which I hope you explore is the importance of proportions; the current trend of oversize is not classic -- it's just a fad that will look very silly quite soon -- and doesn't flatter any woman's body.

    Really enjoyed the video and seeing how deep vs light contrast suits to you! I have been struggling with finding the perfect hair color (my natural brown always felt too dark against super pale skin and medium grey eyes), so have settled on a medium depth ginger-ish hair that makes my eyes pop. The contrast I get by still choosing my favourite pale/ pastel green and blues against the hair is so pretty, and it’s like the colors come alive. Would love to hear more about the color theory in the future, thank you!
