I could not reset to factory default using this method - but after consulting the actual manual I found the missing piece of information omitted by this video. *****Hold the reset button while putting the batteries back in, then release the reset button after a minimum of 3 seconds (with the batteries in!) ****** You can then remove the batteries and reassemble everything. If the factory reset was successful the lock will ask you to reset the master PIN when you touch the keypad and you can follow the directions on the video to do this.

The problem might be that Yale lock doesnt know which way the door is facing and might be trying to lock the opposite way. I changed the direction the lock was and now it works fine.

Help, I’ve spent most of the day trying to reset my YALE door lock. I have a new WiFi and having a hard time resetting it after I push that set button. The lock doesn’t talk it beeps. I don’t understand what to do from there, think I am missing a step. Do anyone know what I am talking about and can help me? I am so tired of this because I don’t have a key for this door only the YALE. Big mistake on my part. Help me please 😢

The directions are good but the layout is a bit jumble of that would have been enhanced with a table of contents and better ordering. The reset probably should be the first items displayed, then the reset of the pin, and then other items. Decent but confusing.

Hi. I even couldn't to set the master code. How I can do it? isn't allowing me. Do I have to factory reset?

    • @bencossey7550

Yes factory reset - if the lock is not asking you to set a master PIN when you touch the screen then you have not successfully completed a factory reset. Put the batteries back in while pushing the reset button and release the button after a minimum of three seconds (of the batteries being back in). Then you can remove the batteries to reassemble everything prior to setting the master PIN.

I've had the Yale August smart lock for two years and never had a problem but now suddenly, it gets stuck and the lock will not open. I've reset it to factory settings, reprogrammed the master code, called the number to talk with a helper, it initially worked and less than 24 hours later, the lock is once again stuck and will not open. I have to use the key to lock when I leave the house. Anyone have any suggestions to get the lock to work again?

had the same issue. The problem might be that the lock is trying to lock the opposite way. If you need any extra help let me know.

@@moneyRalf212 Thank you for your offer of assistance, Ralfy X, but after losing considerable time and patience trying to find a solution that the Yale people were clearly not interested in resolving, I was not loyal to the brand. I dumped it and bought another manufacturer's digital lock. It's been operating very well since last year. I'm sure these locks have a built-in obsolescence date when they leave the factory, so it may come a time to replace this one as well. Nothing is permanent anymore and nothing can be relied upon forever either. Every day, the good old adage "Carpe Diem" makes more sense.

Brought this lock and NEVER worked, unable to input master code and Bluetooth doesn’t work. I’m a computer Engineer so are familiar with electronic. Certainly faulty item so don’t recommend!

Not faulty - this video was misleading on how to complete the factory reset - the official manual was quite clear however. It is a soft reset so needs the batteries in (not a hard reset as implied in this video).
