    The show makes me uncomfortable and that’s a good thing. If you’re a Black Woman in America thinking about watching it. Do it. If it makes you uncomfortable. Do it, anyway. @@msatutude17 Truth. But myself as a self-descibed Spike-stan, I'm only a little surprised at how this came out. Spike Lee is one of the greatest film directors of the last 50 years, unquestionable. And the best can often let their egos and track record get ahead of their better judgement and core artistry as he did here.
      He's using this show as bully pulpit to voice all his frustrations with politics and pop culture and lost much his ability to sythesize those into a good story as he did with JUNGLE FEVER, MO' BETTA BLUES, HE GOT GAME, etc. Those & most others didn't make the plot and characters suffer to make blatant unsubtle points; i.e. crack addiction in JF as opposed to British actors in Ho'wood in s2 of SHE'S. He' using the show as his twitter, ha.
      Spike may have run a bit dry of subjects to write on as shown by his last films. He didn't write SHE HATE ME, BLACK KKKLANSMAN was aiight only cowritten by him, etc. He may need better partners likewhomever he worked with on 25th HOUR or falling bac and letting the original script and characters speak like with SUMMER OF SAM.
      SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT the tv show will continue to suffer a slow awkward death if he does not get fresh, younger BLACK WOMEN creatives in the writing room and director chair. He almost headed that way with the first season but he has to get back on track, please baby please.

African genes are more dominant and African-Americans ( black peoples who are decedents of the slave trade ), are not even 90-100% black to tell “mixed” black people they aren’t black . Being black in Hollywood. .. if you don't get your way shout racism and get what you want

    • @Tan87ful
      @Tan87ful 5 років тому +1

      Well if you are only given roles where you play a slave, a maid, a criminal, or the best friend/side kick to the white main character, then that’s a problem. Films like Black Panther and Overlord are relatively new so things are slowly getting better. I remember Men in Black and Shaft being top favorites back in the day among my family and black friends so more of those types of films are needed in 2019. They didn’t need to do reboots of those films. They need to create more stories of science fiction and fantasy and they can have people of color as the leads. White actors don’t have to worry about this. All you have to do is look at the popular blockbuster film franchises like the MCU, DCEU, and Star Wars and see the main roles that white actors play. Hollywood can do whatever they want but they shouldn’t complain if not enough people are going to see the films they put out. Idk exactly who they are referring to when they say that but I bet that black people and just people of color in general.
