Hello Tree Hugger, tiny bits of thymus actually remain for a long time past 19 years old. However, so much of it is gone by 19 that it is effectively not identifiable.
A sheath of pericytes and epithelial reticular cells around thymic capillaries that prevents the developing T lymphocytes of the thymus from being exposed to circulating antigens.
