    Ninja Nerds!
Join us in this lecture where Professor Zach Murphy will be discussing the pineal gland. We go into detail on the circadian rhythm, which is also known as the sleep wake cycle. We also talk about the bodies biological clock and what processes occur to let our body know when the sleep wake cycle should begin. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

These videos are more geared toward human medicine, but for any vet med/animal nerds out there-
The pineal gland also works to synchronize metabolism/physiology with the *length* of daytime. This isn't exactly important for people, whose females function on a menstrual cycle, but various species are seasonal ovulators instead. Their retinas take in the amount of light they receive, which changes depending on the length of the day. Longer days = more light = less melatonin and vice versa. This can actually trigger reproductive mechanisms in other species. Some species like horses ovulate when the days get longer, since their gestation time is about a year, longer days = warmer days, and they can have their foals in the spring. Some species like goats are "short-day" ovulators, whose gestation is only about 150 days, which provides the opportunity to also kid in the spring. So not only does this work in a circadian or daily rhythm, but also works as a seasonal rhythm regulator as well.
Just wanted to throw out there that this is the endocrine mechanism responsible for initiating those reproductive processes in other species. Love the videos, thanks for helping me study for my physiology exams!

My brother was diagnosed with pineal gland germinoma 15 years ago and recovered from it. He had his VP shunt since the growth was obstructing his CSF fluid pathway. Last year he had hydrocephalus and was told to proceed with ETV and biopsy as it was worried that he had possible recurrent growth plus his shunt is no longer optimal. ETV was successful and biopsy came out negative thankfully. He now has sleep problems to what may be due to the injury of his pineal gland/hydrothalamus during the latest procedure etc. I find your videos to be very helpful for people to educate themselves and even think of possible solutions (in his case, maybe he needs a boost of melatonin to enjoy better sleep at night). I hope that you can continue to teach the world with your brilliant visual drawings and splendid explanation.

I'm wondering - Some of the seratonin produced by the pineal gland does not convert into melatonin right? So since seratonin has been attributed as a key tryptamine in consciousness-function, does darkness also stimulate thought, imagination and dreamlike reminiscence through the pineal gland? For me my mind is as most active during night in darkness. Memories and imagination is heightened. It's a passage from day activities and into dreaming. In that case it seems like there is some credulity to this reputation of the pineal gland having a spiritual aspect after all.

Since the pineal gland is not protected by the blood brain barrier and has the second largest blood supply right behind the kidneys it becomes very susceptible to chemicals metals and toxins including Fluoride/fluorine which is the most reactive metal on the table of elements as it is an electron hungry hog and will steal borrow and quench electrons, which is why it’s in many pharmaceutical drugs, bc it is so reactive and will get the job done for big pharma drugs catalyzing a reaction. However not the reaction that we want for optimal health…

@@tham4378 Most of all: waves - whether macro or quantum - can only be described mathematically since wave=form of energy-spreading, can be interpreted essentially as a movement, the simplest form of which is rotation/spin. Of course regarding Quantums (Q) it is still unclear what resonates - although they have elaborate math for Q fields which gives good predictions: at least QED (Q electro-dynamics) for EM (electro-magnetic) waves. All chemicals are made of matter-particles (fermions: quarks, electrons...) interact via wave-particles (bozons: photons, gluons....). No chemical reaction can occur without change in energy via EM waves....

The great teacher Manly P Hall in secret teaching of all ages in chapter Hiramic legend says: Sufficient similarity exists between the masonic CHiram and the KUNDALINI of Hindu mysticism to warrant the assumption that CHiram may be considered A SYMBOL ALSO OF THE SPIRIT FIRE moving through the sixth ventricle of the SPINAL COLUMN. The exact science of HUMAN REGENERATION IS THE LOST KEY OF MASONRY, for when the Spirit Fire is lifted up through the thirty-three degrees, or segments of the Spinal Column, and enters into the domed chamber of the human skull, it finally passes into the pituitary body (Isis), where it invokes Ra (the pineal gland) and demands the Sacred Name. Operative Masonry, in the fullest meaning of that term, signifies the process by which the Eye of Horus is opened. E. A. Wallis Budge has noted that in some of the papyri illustrating the entrance of the souls of the dead into the judgment hall of Osiris the deceased person has a pine cone attached to the crown of his head.

You cannot give a lecture on the most referenced gland in history (Egyptians, Mayans depictions ect) without mentioning DMT. It's simply disingenuous, along with the fact that he doesn't mention calcification of the gland.

@@emirstein.As a medical personnel, I can tell you, our field is now all about money. You can thank capitalism for that. We're all just $ to them. You think the pharmaceutical company isn't going to suggest a medication that isn't going to have sides effects, your going to be responsible for your actions while on it and can't control what your doing ( ambien). So if you get in your car and get in an accident, your still responsible, even though your on a prescription medication. And you can't sue big pharm! And I'll give you one more thing to think about.
My Granny once told me, an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. She's was a Charge Nurse in my home town. She worked in a hospital were she had her hands on every department. My whole family is in the medical field. And when I started, you were still a human being and we absolutely had every intention in making you better and pray we don't see you expect in the community living your best life. 23 years later, I'm disgusted how left this field went in the hand of the all mighty dollar......js 🤷‍♀️
Do your own research off responsible legit sites and literature. Don't just believe what someone tells you. Get that 2nd and 3rd maybe even a 4th opinion.

isnt the fun thing about this ciruit as a good exeption of the rule for symphaticus? The rule of thumb about "fight and flight" is not true here, symphaticus functions as helper to sleep.
