  • Community work together on Saturday May 24, 1969 to put the cement roof on Domingo Atalig’s house on Rota, NMI. Leon & Chris put cement into tins. Domingo Atalig passes cement to George Will. Manny & Greg Porter work on the roof with Joaquin Atalig. Children, Antonio Barcinas & Jesus Manibusan rest from shoveling sand. Tito Barchnas has wheel barrow on roof and Felix Flawau has the tin can. Helping to shovel sand are Juan Muna & Francisco Taimanao. Spreading cement on the roof are Manny, Joaquin, George, Jim Tischler & Domingo.
On Sunday Kit Porter gave swimming lessons to a few neighborhood girls.

It means so much to me to hear from you, a grandchild, who is finding your grandfather in this story. He was in one of my early stories, Going up the River, a fun trip on my birthday that he helped make happen, adding his sense of fun and adventure. You can also find him on the Taga float in the 1968 UN Day story. I hope next Friday to post a story about the teachers clearing the Ancient Taga Quarry, and I use the photo of him as the ancient Taga again. He is also in a story at his farm. He was so generous, sharing fish as well as produce with us. Thank you for letting me know that sharing these stories via UA-cam is meaningful -- my goal, even though I am now elderly and slow.
