I went to college Hyde Park and toured their home many times. She inspired me when I read her biography in elementary school and I am still inspired by her to this day.
Why would anyone laugh at you? She was an inspiration to many, and fascinating, in her own right. If anyone laughs at you, they're just bullies. You will learn a lot, and be enlightened by your research and discovery of her. I just finished reading the book, "Eleanor and Franklin," by Joseph P. Lash. As much as that was kind of a long, challenging book to read, I found out a lot about both of them, but found Eleanor most intriguing.
I too have a hearing loss in my left ear from a different cause. Like Mrs. Roosevelt I have to look and listen carefully! All the rest that you reported about her was amazing! Thank you!
She did infact keep a pistol in the glove box BUT she never loaded it.... Read a book! Teach yourself before you try to teach others or you'll give out misinformation, like this!
From the time she was a young girl, her mother, Anna Roosevelt, emphasized that her daughter was not a beauty. In the society that Eleanor Roosevelt grew up in, looks could make or break a woman, and let's face it, she was no glamour girl. Only after attending the Allenswood Academy in London, did she learn that she could make it in this world without being the most beautiful woman. Honestly, she looked like a less dolled up version of Alice Longworth, a cousin of hers.
@Christine R I don't think any serious minded person needs up to 2hours just to appear decent, put together. Anyways, these comments are all water under the bridge. Eleanor Roosevelt is Eleanor Roosevelt
She basically accomplished what Woodrow Wilson failed to do with the League of Nations she was a big proponent in the UN
Anna was her favorite name it’s her name and that of mother and daughter
The most intriguing First Lady of all time.
Eleanor was one of the best First Ladies we ever had! She made the role more than just a ribbon cutting, smile & wave with the President support.
She was and also ways be in our heart for America people.

Good for you.
I have her as my project in school (DO NOT LAUGH AT ME)

Great Book about a fascinating First Lady
First Lady Eleanor set the bar for what a “First Lady” should be; a caring inspired and progressive role model for everyone.
And there have been very few since.
Admirable
Love Eleanor!
Wow
Hero

She was also most likely lgbtqia+
so what!!
who cares?why try to pin her down in 2023 definitions.
She was bisexual, and it has nothing to do with her love and devotion to her husband and kids, and her activism and support of the American people.
Why does it always seem to me that she was always careless about her appearance? Was it all the academic stuff?

To me she appears very well put together, but she was not a model! She chose to focus on her intelligence and service to others.
@@rebeccamieure3783 Her priorities were well organised!
Don't care what she looked like she was awesome and had big
