  • This program is part of a series on the Beatitudes presented by Jesus in Matthew 5. In this episode, we will look at what Jesus meant when He taught, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God.” The life of Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States of America, is a wonderful example of a life of service. “Poverty of spirit” is the first and foundation of all of the Beatitudes. When we live humbly before God, our lives will be filled with compassion and empathy for others.
    📺 *In this Episode:
On the 10 December 1948, the 58 member countries of the United Nations agreed to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, drafted by the United Nations. This was a milestone moment in the history of the world. This document set out, for the first time, the fundamental human rights that are to be universally protected.
Article 1 starts with the words: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and human rights.” The Universal Declaration of Human Rights sets out a vision of a world of freedom and dignity for every person. There never was, nor has there been since, a global agreement as positive and far-reaching as this. Since then, it’s been criticised for falling far short of its ideals, because of the corruption and hypocrisy of some of the governments of this world.
Yet, it has still inspired and paved the way for more than seventy human rights treaties at both global and regional levels. It has still protected countless millions of people around the world, and exposed crimes and abuses against the vulnerable internationally.
What most people don’t know is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was based on Christian principles. That’s because the chief architect of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was a deeply committed Christian. Not only that, but she was a woman, who, in a man’s world, wielded influence and power with grace and dignity on the international stage. Her name? Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt.

How do you interact with or think of someone who does not care and who is just enjoying their life at everyone else's expense or stress and laughing at any kindness given to them as they just throw it away and continue on their meaningless way. How do I not be annoyed by careless people. Isn't it a normal human reaction, especially by a Christian, to not enjoy bad things?

God bless you brother. I too struggle with the same thing. It's harder when the people are your children and family.. but I believe God is faithful and "His strength is made perfect" when we have these struggles. ❤️

Thank you for your feedback. No doubt humanity has had some barbaric days in the past. Some may even argue not much has changed but we always have hope. The Human Rights Declaration certainly has helped many around the world.

I'm not sure she's a good example to use as a role model. I have heard a lot of bad things about her.
Just because somebody does some "good" doesn't mean they're good.
We're dealing with a lot of bad things in the world because people said they were doing a good for society.
I'm not putting down people doing good. I'm just saying we should be careful who we are presenting to our children as role models.
Good deeds don't equal good person.

Thank you for your feedback and observations. We agree good deeds do not make a good person. Motivation is what sets apart a good person and a charlatan. We are all sinners, and not one is perfect. But hopefully, we can agree the Declaration of Human Rights has certainly been beneficial to the world and this is worth celebrating.

Gary, I respect what you are doing generally. However, in this instance, did you not know that Eleanor Roosevelt was an occultist? She should be ignored by any who know the truth.

    • @matthawksworth
      @matthawksworth Рік тому +3

Was she really? I don't think the character of an occultist could create such a profoundly positive impact on a global scale, witnessed and verified by the entire world population. Gary gave strong evidence for her being Christian, any practice of occultism seems extremely unlikely. Occultists are usually found out by their bad fruit, like Margaret Sanger. Eleanor's legacy is golden.

@@matthawksworth Don't forget history is being rewritten by the Jesuits. I could give numerous examples on that point. Find out who Hilary Clinton used to (maybe still does) apparently contact for advice. The Clinton's have freely admitted such a connection.

She was a wicked woman that dealt in occultic practices.
