This is what extreme dedication, motivation and work ethic looks like. The ability to push beyond exhaustion and the pain barrier is on full display in Yates's training. He was a great champion and ambassador for the discipline that is, Bodybuilding. Very inspirational...even for an average life long lifter as myself.

Goes to show that although many bodybuilders prefer to workout alone, having a training partner really helps you get those last few reps in. Im sure Yates was/is a strong minded individual but that trainer pushing him to the very last ounce of strength on every exercise paid off.

There have been so many back-workouts that pro's and amateurs have put up throughout the years, via video streaming sites, DVD's and the likes. This one is still the best one I've seen. And its nearly been 20 years since i watched the original via, VHS tapes, back in late 1996, early 1997.
Walter Tupou yeah branch is no slouch. Training like that can get you hurt though, as we seen with Dorian Yates, he was falling apart throughout his career. When I use to lift, I would train similar. 45 minutes intense, then I'm done. I started noticing myself especially in the bench my left rotator cuff beginning to hurt, I don't know what kind of damage it is. Till this day when I start getting back into working out specifically the bench the pain starts to come back about a month into training.
Dorian is one of a kind - we all see the physical beast he was but unless you see him training like this you miss that mental beast he unleashed from it’s cage when in the gym. Love the lat pullover machine - great isolator and feels amazing with it’s unique stretch.
I've had a lot of luck with this training in the past. And because of muscle memory and my diet I'm confident this style will get me really jacked this time round with more experience and knowledge. I was slack but a second job did make it hard to stay committed in the past. Sustainable routine is my goal.
I wish more gyms would equip with some of the original nautilus machines such as the pullover we see here and original duo plate loaded arm....I believe hammer makes a pullover that's excellent too?
Even life-fitness have a version of the pull-over, but the king is still the old nautilus version, it just feels right, the smoothness and the way it loads the lats and rest of the back. Probably the best movement for that deep, low lat insertion, and crazy lat thickness.
+Hamzah Jundi Agreed. The old nautilus version hits the muscle belly in a more complete way. It's weird, it's like cable-curls in my opinion. I wouldn't build a routine around it, but as a warm-up or finisher, the nautilus machine version or a lot of cable stuff feels thorough compared to a free weight version.
I bought this video when it first came out,I also met him at the Wulfrun Bodybuilding show at Wulfrun College Wolverhampton UK,it was 1988 I competed in the show and Dorian was a guest poser,even then his mass and symmetry was phenomenal.
well, it's heavy for us looking at it...but to him, it's not so heavy..if you can control it like that, it's not that heavy, for him....we would need lighter weight to do it with that sort of form..slow negatives and holding at lockout....

The original pullover also had a pulldown... you didn't have to switch machines. Very effective!

Pullovers to pre exhaust the lats is one of the best tricks I learned from DY
no surprise he was one of the greatest. His intensity is on another level.
I wish more gyms would equip with some of the original nautilus machines such as the pullover we see here and original duo plate loaded arm....I believe hammer makes a pullover that's excellent too?
Hammer Strength make a lot of similar machines, very good quality too

Even life-fitness have a version of the pull-over, but the king is still the old nautilus version, it just feels right, the smoothness and the way it loads the lats and rest of the back. Probably the best movement for that deep, low lat insertion, and crazy lat thickness.
+Hamzah Jundi Agreed. The old nautilus version hits the muscle belly in a more complete way. It's weird, it's like cable-curls in my opinion. I wouldn't build a routine around it, but as a warm-up or finisher, the nautilus machine version or a lot of cable stuff feels thorough compared to a free weight version.

Yates has some of the best form I have ever seen. He never missed a beat.
I bought this video when it first came out,I also met him at the Wulfrun Bodybuilding show at Wulfrun College Wolverhampton UK,it was 1988 I competed in the show and Dorian was a guest poser,even then his mass and symmetry was phenomenal.

well, it's heavy for us looking at it...but to him, it's not so heavy..if you can control it like that, it's not that heavy, for him....we would need lighter weight to do it with that sort of form..slow negatives and holding at lockout....
