    You must have some fertile soil to be able to only feed twice per year. My plants are grown in coco so there is zero nutrition in my "soil" if you wanna call it that. I use Masterblend tomato formula along with calcium nitrate and magnesium sulphate. I just don't have the space here to grow in soil like you do. When I get a new place with some property I will be planting in the ground and going organic with my own homemade compost.

    Hey Jeff! Have you ever heard of Liqui-Dirt? Its advertised as a pretty all purpose fertilizer. It works great on my indoor plants, but i was wondering if I could use it on my edibles as a supplement in addition to the NPK fertilizer I plan on using, as it seems to have the trace minerals you were talking about. Is it possible to over fertilize?

  • @marklynch8781

    I just recieved some strawberry fertilizer from a well known company, the NPK is 10-52-17. This has to be the most unbalanced fertilizer I've ever seen. Nobody else sells a strawberry fertilizer with these numbers that I know of. My question is what kind of results will it produce?

    Hi
    What is your opinion of using comfrey on Strawberries as its fertiliser. Also would putting Growmore or Alfalfa pellets be then too much fertiliser? Thanks. Great videos!!

  • @michelerichard5523
    @michelerichard5523 2 місяці тому +1

    I get quite confused with the fertilizers. Would not a 4-4-4 be more balanced? Or is it best to have just a touch more Nitrogen. Thank you🙏

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  2 місяці тому

      Yes, if all 4 numbers are identical, that is literally as balanced as you can get. Nitrogen helps with foliar growth, too much and it'll affect flowering/fruiting. Getting the numbers as close together as possible is the key.

    Quick question: when you refer to compost do you mean like food scraps broken down in soil, or like food scraps broken down in some leaves or something that turns into “soil”

    Jeff were the strawberries you were feeding June bearing or ever bearing? Would the ever bearing varieties need a 3rd or 4th feeding? I got all ever bearing in so should get at least 3 harvests

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  2 роки тому +3

      I have all 3 types here Kittie. June bearing gets fed twice, everbearing usually gets fed 3 times....it gets a feeding in the middle of summer to try and get another harvest. I don't worry so much about the raised beds though....their soil is so good I don't even need to feed. But containers for sure.

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms

      Definitely....depends on your application. Fields and fields of berry patches are likely heavily fertilized and amended in the spring. By the time you pick the last berry, there's nothing left for the plants.

      In US "milorganite" is suggested when google searching for organuique fertilizer. Its sold at Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon, and several other places.

    • @morningwoodfarms713
      @morningwoodfarms713 2 роки тому +2

      @@1erinjames It's usually a granular, slow release formula, mainly for lawn use. Though you can amend your vegetable beds with it, I wouldn't. There are SO many other better choices. Plus, the N-P-K is much different than the liquid, all-purpose that Jeff is using here. With the purpose of it being a balanced, fast acting fertilizer vs an unbalanced, slow release (milorganite has no "K" ratio). It does have its place in the garden, just not here. Only my opinion.
