  • Welcome back to another video from Lovelawns. In this video, we take a first impressions look at the Toro Grandstand 36 inch stand-on mower. It's a great bit of kit and has a fantastic cut quality and we were really impressed with the overall build and design. It's pretty fast too which is always fun. Took a moment to get used to the controls but once you do you can really fly along.

    I’m going to maybe do black tweels and get the front casters in black for my 52. As much as I want a stand on 36, the new proline is cheaper with the option drag stand base. As I’m growing will be patient.

    Bit of a bummer about it not fitting through the gate. Looked like you were having fun running it 😀

      yeah major bummer, just a couple of inches too wide! love the mower though, so productive whizzing around :-)

      Do it mate, set the Mavic to follow you around, would be epic lol...! I’d like to get my hands on the battery ones from Mean Green but they are not easily available here and cost heaps!

    This mower will fit through a 36 inch gate? Or you need the gate to be 40 inches? Please advise. Thanks. I have about 8 k to 10 k sq ft of lawn. Using super recycler 21 Inch personal pace. Very hard to want to spend that much on a lawn mower. Your thoughts. I am a senior citizen. Thanks

      @lovelawns  Рік тому

      No it won't, the cut is 36 inches, the mower is wider than that.

    Nice review.. I like this Grandstand .. It has a Kawasaki FS542V engine. but I wish Toro would have gave it on option to have a bit more powerful engine - like a Kaw FS600V (or FX600V). I know that both the Wright 36" stander and Ferris 36" stander both have the more powerful Kaw FX600V engine. But I like a lot of things about this Grandstand.

      Thanks mate, it’s a great bit of kit. Always nice to have more power but had no dramas with this so far. It’s very productive.

      What’s a good stand on mower 32 to 36?

    • @lovelawns
      @lovelawns  3 роки тому

      Either is good, it depends more on what mower you chose, how much you use it, what sort of lawns your mowing etc etc.

    I know it's hard to imagine.. But get a bigger gate? The time master 30 would fit through that gate but it's a fast paced walk behind

      @@lovelawns I really want to buy more gear the American landscapers use, like this stand behind unit, it's the next step up really and I like the idea that you can hop off it flick the foot pate up and just walk behind it

    Gravely and scag have brought out a 32 inch stander, just a heads up .

    • @lovelawns
      @lovelawns  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the heads up mate, I reckon that might be the sweet spot in size and productivity along with a bigger deck for the larger stuff.

    • @CA34562

      Definitely go the graverly 32 over the scag 32. The gravelys around 11k and the scags around 14.5k. The graverly has the 18.5hp and the scag has the 16.5hp engine. I like scag better, but with a weaker engine and 3K more.. I’d be going gravely with the 32”. If you decide to go with the 36” I’d go with scag, bigger tires and significantly better on hills. Where as on the 32” the tires are so skinny on both that they’d both be pretty poor on hills. I run a scag vride2 36” here in Ipswich if you’re ever about and want to see for yourself 👍

    Much love to your channel. However, everything I am saying is based on experience. I've used this mower many times, it's really an over awful mower in my opinion. If you're doing anything that's not consistently a flat surface, then you're gonna be frustrated. It tends to slip constantly on even the slightest hill. After the weight was added to the front, it was slightly better. However, I don't think this mower should have ever made it to the shelf. The manuverability is this mower's biggest downfall.

    • @lovelawns
      @lovelawns  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback back. I would like to check out the new Hustler stander too at some point. Have you used that one?

  • @adrianhdz4514
    @adrianhdz4514 2 роки тому +1

    I own this mower and I don't recommend.. at all. Way to heavy for its footprint, it lacks maneuverability. I can never use the full width of deck when mowing, simply because there's too much weight on front tires, so grass doesn't stand back up enough to leave a clean cut. Weight to tire width ratio is too high so there's horrible rutting. Very heavy up front so it takes more effort to turn and ends up spinning out more than I'd like, which means slow turns all day. Seems like issue might be resolved with wider decks since motor is turned sideways and pushed back, and wider tires.

    • @lovelawns
      @lovelawns  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the info Adrian, appreciate feedback from someone that owns and uses one of these. I have a few colleagues that use the wider deck version and they swear by them. Cheers.

      I agree, I own a 36 as well and everything you said is spot on. I'm about to change to a walk behind for nice lawns and just use the grandstand on my rough lawns.
