Meow's been working on a stable update for DSAS to account for all the new animation framework Armored Core 6 introduced. If you want to support the development and even participate in early testing, go check out Meow's patreon: www.patreon.com/Meowmaritus
Technically speaking, the "eye" of the satellite is actually treated as its back half. Its default orientation has the platforms facing forward, and its arms are able to swivel around to be in front of either side. It's hard to imagine what a fight against the satellite would actually look like, but we can confidently say there would be a lot of lasers involved.

As in other Fromsoft games (and games in general) there probably is more cut content from the end of the game than from other parts. The way the "final mission" starts so abruptly it's quite obvious there is something missing between it and the penultimate mission. You just go from a "boss fight" to the final boss immediately. I felt they invested a lot of "character design" thinking into the way it's presented, so this makes a lot of sense. Looking at those rotating platforms around it, I love the thought of having to fight one of the endgame bosses while having to manage vertical changes to maintain stable footing. Heck, I guess it could be firing lasers from the eye at us while trying to duel a separate boss chasing us. The current endgame bosses already have a lot going on in them, as well as the missions leading up to them.

One thing I noticed about this satellite, is that the big red eyeball on it is very similar to The Eye laser cannon on the Strider. This video shows they are clearly very different sizes. But I think that confirms that the RLF somehow got their hands on some PCA tech when they were arming the Strider.
It would explain why all the rest of the RLF's weapons, which are made by BAWS, are ballistic, but The Eye is a laser. Because we all know how much the PCA loves their big blue deathrays.

After the ice worm and strider, there’s no real colossal spectacle boss fights in the game which I would have loved more of. I also could see it originally being the target of the infinite flight mission or something similar, since the final game just reuses the PCA ships and surely the satellite laser would have also been a threat to the xylem.

Y'ever think about what it would be like to live among the low-level personnel on one of these giant laser superstructures? Like, you're eating lunch in Employee Cafeteria 6B, when suddenly the room shakes and you aren't sure why. But someone in a gymnasium on the other side of the station saw a giant laser zip past the window, so eventually word gets around that the station fired at something.
Contrast reality, where firing the laser would definitely be a whole _thing_ with days of preparation and miles of red tape attached, so by the time it happens everyone is already expecting it.
