  • A follow up video to my original video - • Osmo Pocket 3 - Sharpn... . Here I go through the same method to seeing how the sharpness and noise reduction settings effect the final image BUT this time in brighter lights to mimic that of a high key look or an outdoor sunny look.
I do know there are more levels in each setting but I wanted to quickly show the MAX and MIN of each setting for a quick comparison.

Great comparison... I've been using -2 Sharpness and -1 Noise Reduction as my standard. Looking at your video, I'll probably use -1 for both moving forward.

I had been shooting in -2 Sharpness and -2 NR but I just shot a vlog and saw some pretty noticeable noise in the background on a hiking trail. I was surprised so I'll probably be going to -1 on Noise reduction. I can easily add sharpness in post but NR is a bit more taxing to do.

I notice noise much more apparent in darker scenes or darker areas. I couldn't tell too much in brighter or well lit spaces.

@@shawnchenco Yeah, noise happens when a higher ISO is needed. This is like when you turn the volume/gain up on speakers and there is audio distortion. With enough light, the ISO can remain low.

@@TimBrownTown I was noticing even the fan in the background (black) I could notice it being noisy even being well light. I assume it was because it was darker so you could see the noise easily. A white wall would be hard to tell if anything thing is there.

@@shawnchenco Yeah. I think that has something to do with dynamic range. Increasing the sharpness is adding artificial sharpness to the image, technically speaking. I learned that in high end home theater. We always turned down the sharpness all the way and most pro camera guys do to. I think the consensus with the Pocket 3 is -2 sharpness and -1 noise reduction, which is what I'm moving to. But, there are no hard and fast rules.
