Some poeple love Stike Witches for the fanservice, other people hate it for the fanservice and don't give it a chance, but all these people forget that Strike Witches had some real epic battle moments.
I like how how this anime seems to have just ditched the concept of pants entirely. They're not even pretending that your not supposed to see the girls' underwear.
from observation it seems like pants would be hindrance to the pilot and machinery as it seems that they need skin contact with the machinery in order to power and do things with them that'd normally would wreck the pieces. Also, remember anime cornerstone is fan service, so take that also into consideration... (Plus at least give them the credit of coming right out with it and being honest.)

He was brilliant with tactics, but always led from the front. Never sent his troops into something he himself wasn't willing to do, as he was fearless. The Germans quickly discovered that he wasn't a man to pick a fight with. Then again, when is an angry Scot ever someone to pick a fight with?

What I like about Strike Witches is that the panty shots, whilst fan-servicey aren't done in the pursuit of being sexy. It is just...the way of things.

because pants would flutter and entangle in the propellers. And because they could be attacked at any time, they run arround without pants even when they're on the ground. Not sure why though, they'd only lose 5 seconds if they had to undress them. But better safe than sorry, nothing would be more distressing than people dying because you needed to long to take off your pants.

That actually happened (aside from the alien thing obviously). On the 5th of May 1945, when large parts of the German Wehrmacht had already surrendered a batallion of the Waffen-SS held some political prisoners on Castle Itter, a castle in Austria. The Wehrmacht under the command of Oberst Gangl and an american platoon under General Lee fought together against the Waffen-SS and freed the prisoners. Thats the only time in history the Germans and the Americans fought side by side. Sabaton ave made a song about that battle too. It's called "The Last Battle"
A three second Google search would have showed the writers that the panzerfaust isn't a fucking missile launcher, nor is it a rocket laucher. It's a god damn grenade launcher. And why do they have those ammo belts wrapped around them while using magazine fed weapons?
