Agreed. I think even more so given the fact that she essentially willingly gave up her career as a witch to stop the neuroi by forging Reppumaru. For the sake of seriously discussing this INCREDIBLY FUCKING ABSURD animu which is also one of my favourites, I'll mention the following! I think she lengthened her career as a witch by forging Reppumaru, not gave up or shortened it. Because of the unfortunate bullshit "most witches lose their power as they get older", her career as a witch was basically over. She couldn't block a bullet with her shield. A simple bullet. She had no chance against a beam. She got shot down because of it in (I believe) the first series, and would surely have died if she continued flying. She was so weak that she was in a position worse than the protagonist of Brave Witches, and that protag is notoriously weak in magic power. So what she did with Reppumaru was get herself the ability to attack and block, as well as retaining the ability to fly and dodge which was all she had left. Yeah it drained her remaining power, but the way I see it was like... she had an injury that wouldn't heal, and it incapacitated her from fighting. Reppumaru is like a prosthesis that actually worsened the injury, which would already have ended her career, but this prosthesis allowed her to fight and defend a little longer. Then of course the Neuroi core yoinked some incredibly, impressively strong shields out of her, draining the last dregs of a semblance of power in her, and freakin' poured molten acid on the injury and cauterised it to the point that she doesn't even count as magical anymore... but what can ya do.
Think, anime before the nukes was nice and "peaceful" & nothing like it is now. After nukes Fuck that cat! Fuck that fox! You know what, FUCK EVERYTHING!!!!!
Experimentation maybe in the character design but in the film which is set after season 2 she turns up again flying a real plane and she doesn't have the purple eye anymore so i doubt it be cool if it was though

Like how Yoshika has the ability to heal people, Hartmann has her Sturm thing, Gertrude has the OP pls nerf strength ability, Perrine has her lightening, or how like in Brave Witches Takami can summon aim bot, her sister can kind of do the same, Georgette can heal but it makes her hot, and Sasha can tell what's wrong with a Striker Unit by touching it. Mio's ability allows her to look through Neuroi like a Xray of sorts and find their "core".
The funny thing is that the bushi lost the battle of Shiroyama and they lost by a lot they all died and of the 30,000 imperial forces they only killed 30

That's not uniform, that's fanservice, reason I hate this anime : interesting chars, but I can't like them because it's so ridiculous when you have basic military logic.
