Hi Abi and Pete, it is probably unlikely that you read the comments here, but if you do, I wanted to let you know that I found the brief discussion and perhaps the desire of becoming more “intellectual” and more knowledgeable about current affairs really interesting. Frankly, I think everyone should, because we all are part of society and the way we live, vote, and consume affects the life of others as well as the future of our children and future generations. While I agree that the TV news is often terribly negative and sensationalistic, there are other media (e.g. magazines like The Economist, talks, documentaries, etc.) one can resort to keep abreast and acquire valuable and interesting background knowledge. It is hurtful when you ignore what she asks and do what you want. She makes tons of compromises for you I'm sure.
