    I applaud Ram for that very sensitive rear ultrasound system with automatic brake application. A life saving feature especially for a family with children constantly scurrying around the driveway. Very well thought out and executed! Kudos to the Ram truck brand.

    That truck was built right down the street from me. This truck is going to be a good thing for the area the assembly plant before built small cars now it has a killer product. I bet FCA ends up running 3 shifts at some point.

    FCA is doing it lately. The Jeep JL and the new RAM are great. Say what you want to about FCA but their products have some soul to them. Much less appliance feel to them. I love my Jeep JLU to pieces. Never thought I'd own a FCA product but I just smile every time the top goes down :)

    Just drove mine home Saturday from the dealership. Good review. It's been over 10 years since I had a truck so I loved that you covered so much detail. I appreciate all the little hidden gems. I am still searching for a video that goes through all the stuff this thing can do. Especially with the technology and towing.

    I bought a 2019 Ram Big Horn quad cab in Patriot Blue Pearl coat a little over a week ago and sure glad I did. Love this truck and rides like a luxury car. The Hemi motor is also awesome. Plenty of power. I've tried Ford and Chevy trucks and test drove them and they are no comparison to the 2019 Rams ride and value.

    I just bought a ‘22 Limited trim and it’s amazing how well this generation held up. I sold a ‘19 Mercedes’ E class to buy the truck and the interior is on par with a 6 figure European luxury vehicle. Good job Ram.

    The Ram engineers that worked on this interior really outdid themselves. This is by far the nicest interior I've seen on any truck. I'd like to see this in the 2500/3500 models as well.

    I'm liking what I'm seeing with the new Ram 1500. I've owned 2006 Hemi 1500, 2007 Cummins and a 2009 1500. All 4x4. Crews etc. I grew tired of the interiors and build quality. Problems with recalls and dealership's. However, may come back to it. I like the change, I like the design. Currently in a 14, Silverado. May go back to the Ram.....Hmmmm.

    Even the simplest U connect system in my commuter car is better than than the system I used to have in a VW TDI and my current GM system in my Buick. It just seems that U connect is intuitive and simple to operate exactly what’s needed in a vehicle.

    • @1gr8oil
      @1gr8oil 6 років тому

      I have the U-Connect system in my 2014 Jeep, and love it. I can press the call button and say "CALL MARY JANE" if Marry Jane is in my phone book, it will call her. MY Son-in-laws new Honda Pilot will not do that, as he has to go thru several more steps before it will call. Mine does it in only one step

    Great video, too me a sec to realize you were driving around Corpus Christi, Texas. I live there too and just bought that near identical truck. My truck is also that same burgundy (Delmonico Red) color, with the same lighter two tone doe and brown colored interior. I have had my Ram about a month now and absolutely love it. It's by far the best truck I have ever driven. I admit I looked at the Limited first and would rather have had that one, but my budget placed me in the Laramie and I'm not disappointed. This truck is FANTASTIC!
    I looked at Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota before buying and there was no comparison. Ford makes a great truck and that would have been my second choice, but the build quality of the Ram is so much better. Ford's interior still uses a lot of cheap looking plastics. Sit in both and the quality difference is very noticeable.
    Four things I noticed that my Ram has over the one you tested is 1.) Reclining Back Seats ( I think that truck had them you just didn't mention them) & 2.) Heated and Cooled Back Seats, 3.) the Power Sliding Panoramic Sunroof. The Panoramic sunroof I Highly Recommend, it's awesome. And 4.) Blind Spot Monitors. My truck is the Laramie, but probably just a diff. package.
    The only "Issue" with my 2019 Ram is the front and back collision avoidance system, that he mentioned. It will disengage the accelerator pedal and lock the brakes hard. It won't let you hit anything. Overall it's a great feature especially in a parking lot. But, sometimes when driving through tall weeds that you can visually see won't hurt your truck, it still tries to lock you down. It doesn't know how thick or hard something blocking you is, just that there is something there. My truck is 4X4 and I have to turn off the sensors now and then to simply drive it across a field with tall grass. Safety wise I wouldn't get ride of this system because it can stop you from bumping another car or a shopping cart, or a person, but be aware of it also giving you a hard brake check in tall weeds too.
    Overall, Well done Ram!!! You folks really got down with this truck! You have made Ford second think their interior and sent Chevrolet totally back to the drawing board scratching their heads in awe.

  • @Weak_juan
    @Weak_juan 6 років тому +1

    I agree with the ride quality, by far best ride quality for a pickup. Only the ridgeline could compare but we all know it's not really a truck. The power is nice and the v8 sounds great. The interior quality, fit and finish and noise is miles ahead of the competition. I'd buy one but I have a 2017 ram that's paid off.

    I saw it at the Denver auto show and thought it was the star of the show. I have had good luck with both the ford and Chevy trucks for many years. Looking for one more truck and the Ram is now at the front of the line. Was told it could pull a 12K trailer, impressive for a 1/2 ton. May go for the 2500 and 6.4. I am retired pulling 30 ft 5th wheel and a small boat, and don't believe I can get an ROI on a deisel and price is an issue.

    Wonderful review and great truck! I do have 2 items of concern when myself and my 4 friends climb in the truck we are over the payload of 1399 lb.. The other concern is a vehicle that over rides the drivers input like you said about the rear sensors stopping the truck. You are correct about the child safety issue but all my life i have always checked front and back before i get in to leave, my fear is once the criminals learn of this it will be used against you for car jacking and even could cause your death. Maybe i am wrong but it is a concern i have. When i floor it i need the truck to go and go now, not over ride my input.

You know, I immediately watched a similar truck review about the new F-150 Diesel, and (man) you can tell the difference in interiors. The Ford, while a solid truck, looks really dated. Nice review. Glad you finally got your hands on the 2019 RAM. In terms of not seeing mega cabs... they don't exist on the 1500 series. Also, I don't see them going away, the seats are different in that they are adjustable and can lay flat. The Mega cab also offers storage behind the seat in addition to cubbies behind the seat... and some space under the seat in the back... guess we'll see in the next couple of years or so if RAM does do away with the mega-cabs... I always found them nice looking. I don't find that leg room is really in more in a mega cab than the regular 2500/3500.

    So I just rewatched this video because I was trying to find the difference between this truck and my 2015 Chevy LTZ(besides the fact that one is 3 years older and a Chevy instead of a Dodge) and I can't find anything major. I'm not looking for a pissing contest just a few observations I made.
    1) you pointed out how special it was to have cup holders in the door when my 2015 has to cup holders but it doesn't have the gummy bear rap.
    2) you mentioned how the console had a spot to put your phone or tablet 2015 Chevy has that. You also said how it had the sliding cup holders now the Chevy doesn't have that but the cup holders pop out and move forward and back with storage underneath and in the rear compartment also has double glove boxes.
    3) you mentioned how the dash cluster and information center was bright and highly visible so is the 2015 Chevy.
    4) you mentioned how the Dodge has fantastic stereo 2015 Chevy does as well it's a Bose
    5) you mentioned how the Dodge had soft-touch material everywhere so does the 2015 Chevy as well as stitching in the seats and on the dash.
    I guess I could go on and on comparing everything but what I'm trying to say is the Dodge is a beautiful truck No Doubt but the features that you pointed out are already in the 2015 Chevy LTZ the only things that I can see are missing is the Chevy is it doesn't
    have rear AC vents nor a dial gear selector or push button start (neither of those items matter to me but I know that's just my opinion) and I guess the screen is a little larger on the Dodge as well as the screen does a few more functions anyway thanks again for the video. I guess just other than the double stitching and Embroidery in the seats I don't see where this truck stands out above others

      First off the Ram interior is FAR superior than the Chevy cheap looking plastic and ugly wood grain, the center stack is way better in the Ram, the EVIC is light years better in the Ram, the Ram has an 8 speed where you have a six speed, the sunroof has an 6 foot on the Ram vs. your 2 foot, the ride quality is much better on the Ram...need I go on, I can keep pissing?

    Trucks replaced the true fullsize cars of the 1960's and 1970's..
    Those cars were as wide and long as these trucks,they had huge trunks for storage and long trips,trucks have beds with tons of storage ..Old big cars had powerful V-8's new trucks have powerful V8's..Both have tons of leg ,head room etc...And they get roughly the same mpg...We had a 68 Chrysler new Yorker and it got 21 mpg with the tire burning,front end lifting powerful 440 4bbl...the car truly was a sleeper !! And driven normally on the highway it could get 21 mpg on a trip..Usually 15.3 mpg average city/hwy..

    I'll give Ram points the centre console is pretty nice looking on this model you showed, prob the best i've seen. One thing that Ram just doesn't get and maybe they have improved on is cheap leather, which doesn't last, cheap cushions which also don't last. I also hope they fixed the airbags cheapness as in cold weather, they malfunction. The speedo/tack also look really good. I know this one doesn't have it but I dislike the 12" screen, all the finger prints and dirtiness you'd see would drive me mental. I also like the look over this truck over the previous model, they really did a great job here. We'll see how that hybrid system works for reliability.... seems hokey, but that's just me. I'd like to see the demo on the reversing "brake" I think that is one feature that would be great. Despite all my back up sensors, rear camera, around view monitor, I managed to back into a pole. (I'm not sure where I was while backing up.... :(

    Great review on the new 1500 BTBRV. What's your opinion of the 4 Corner Air Suspension system Ram offers? I like the fact that it can raise when in a off road situation since for a 4x4 they sit a little lower than others and can be lowered even more if say you've got an elderly person entering the vehicle. Your thoughts?

    I live in what is commonly known as the 'salt belt' and with all the holes in the frame, I wonder if there would be a rust problem over time?! I contacted RAM to ask about the coating on their frames and nobody had an adequate answer. I believe Ford E-coats their frames and I "think" RAM does too with only GM still wax coating their frames. Can somebody confirm one way or the other and if my concerns are warranted? Great video!!

    • @Peccs91

      I live in NW Pennsylvania where salt on the roads is a big problem. I plan to buy a new truck here in the next few months. I'm going to shop around to the multitude of bedliner, rust prevention dealers when I buy a truck. I have heard good things about Zeibart coatings and they also offer a warranty on top of it. I would also look into Fluid-film which is a coating which is cheaper, but you have to have it done every 1-2 years.

    • @istandfast
      @istandfast 6 років тому +1

      Yeah. I live in central PA and they coat the roads here very liberally. I checked some of the RAM forums and apparently, rust is a problem though it seems hit or miss with some owners. I contacted RAM Customer Service and the official answer I got from them is as follows: "FCA US LLC does not recommend the use of sprays or
      additives for the vehicle. FCA does not utilize any types of sprays or coatings on the vehicle. " So that's not an answer in my opinion but it was all I could get. I agree with you that the way to go is Zeibart, Fluid-film or something that can protect the underside. $50k+ for a truck and you would think they would have that figured out.

      Richard Clark The Ram's in our fleet rusted through at the rear wheel wheels before they were 4 years old, the frames held up well. From my personal experience I prefer some type of oil spray over Ziebart. My favourite product in Canada is Krown rust protection, It's not as thick as some products and doesn't build up as much over time, if you use Krown when the vehicle is new and reapply once a year they provide a rust warranty. KROWN is now available in the US.
