The Darts were a very talented, slick outfit and they did great pastiches of earlier tunes..and did serious justice to them. Tney also wrote a few good songs, but like so many similar acts, there's only so much mileage in being a "covers," band that stays in the charts once the novelty wears off. I fear much the same will befall the Overtones. Mind you, much of Oasis's output sounded like Beatles covers! :O)
One of the best ever songs they did - this excellent cover of a 1960's 4-Seasons song brings those memories from one of the best years of my life back!!
Darts wrote a lot of their own stuff too. Their biggest hit was self penned, It's Raining & there was Get It, DLIFA plus all the B-sides and album tracks. BTW, practically all artists have done covers of old hits (folk think they are listening to an original but often not the case) or they get someone else to write them. At least Darts made what covers they did their own and they were quite oftern bigger & reportedly better than the original. Respect to all bands that bring us great music, xx
The first and last time I seen that was '80/'81 on a black & white tv. Thinking back on it over the years I thought they were miming to the Barry Manilow version. Strange how it was covered twice within a year. Thank you for showing it.
No real disagreement here ;O) I'm a big fan..total respect to them. I spent years trying to track down their version of "Young Blood," which I much prefer to any other I've heard. I don't think they'll be remembered for much of their self-penned stuff and there were a large number of (great) covers on the albums. A number of long lasting bands have started off relying on covers and then moved onto writing consistently good self-penned stuff. They didn't, unfortunately, last that long.
The very last time i went to Alton Towers was just before they took down the classic "Corkscrew" rollercoaster.Once that was gone, that put me right off ever going back.
My sons went last year with their aunties and uncle and said the ques for the rides were so bad. They managed to get on all of 3x rides in total and that was from the park opening till nearly closing.Damn disgrace if you ask me.
michael francis Deacon yes I know, I came across a 34mm reel some years ago and got it transferred to dvd. Maybe one day a better copy will turn up. By the way did you look at the footage on the Facebook page of the live concert in Paris 1979? www.ina.fr/video/I10265221 if not here it is!
I love the song, but I didn't recall having seen this video - it's very cute! Then I remembered, the summer of 1980 when this song was a hit, wasn't the BBC involved in some kind of industrial action, so "TOTP" wasn't on for a while - can someone remind me? (I live in the US now)
At the same time The Spinners made a great hit ( Workin' my way back to you /love you for a Long time ) which was also a rerecording number of the 4 seasons.
Yes I know but I found it on 34mm and had it transferred to DVD. Not good at all. I tried overlaying the music onto the video but it didn’t work too well! Maybe a better copy will turn up one day.
The best version i've heard of this song. They were a fun group.
What? You never heard the four seasons version?
@@markstevenson7577 I have, this is better.
Much as I like Darts enormously, the Four Seasons’ version is difficult to top. The production values are much higher than this version by Darts.
@@markstevenson7577 No I haven't but I'll check it out.
Originally part of rocky sharp and the razors before forming Darts and Rocky Sharp becoming the replays I think
OMG, another band i used to love but had been long forgotten, as i recall they had quite a few hits but this was my favourite.
WOW!! This was the first ever single I bought on 45 vinyl !!!!
The 4 Seasons always had an amusement park sound to them, a "Palisades Amusement Park", sound. A place they performed a number of times.
Bob Fish's voice is as good as voices get.
Rip BOB FISH 😢😢😢
My claim to fame, i was there watching them make this video, and this is the first time i have ever seen it :-) xx
omg as was i there
I was there too 😂
love the 70's......miss them sooooo much..lets hang on too what weve got
My fav Darts hit with the beautiful Bob 🎵🎵🎵
Ahhh Alton Towers when it first opened! Fab! Remember it well!
So talented. So many layers

What's with the were....are, still going.
A great rendition of the Four Seasons classic hit in 1965!
can listen to darts all day long
This band was really good. I still enjoy this song, so catching melody and vocalist is brilliant.
Think this was for Hold Tight!, a music game show filmed at Alton Towers for ITV.
One of the best ever songs they did - this excellent cover of a 1960's 4-Seasons song brings those memories from one of the best years of my life back!!
Love this song 🎵❤
Hadn't seen or heard of this until a few weeks back, now love it.

@@donnandarts Yes thanks...found it on their discog...good track...never heard it before.

The Amazing darts and they all could sing
featuring Mud's Lead Guitarist Rob Davis,@lucky darts !!
nice to see the corkscrew. only zammo macguire walking past in a pair of pony trainers drinking a can of lilt could have made this anymore 80s
Bob Fish ❤ xxx
Great video this was filmed at alton towers
love Darts :-) xxx
The very last time i went to Alton Towers was just before they took down the classic "Corkscrew" rollercoaster.Once that was gone, that put me right off ever going back.
Last time I went there was in the good ol' Corkscrew days too! My friend wants me to go on the Smiler there with her.
My sons went last year with their aunties and uncle and said the ques for the rides were so bad. They managed to get on all of 3x rides in total and that was from the park opening till nearly closing.Damn disgrace if you ask me.
scouse1967 Eek! That's not good :-O
Never knew the corkscrew was dismantled in 2008 😢 remember jumping the queue with my brother to ride it back when it opened and I was 15yrs old then
Love it and them!!!
I remember going round in the corkscrew about 8 times to get the shots .Pity about the video quality .

Is the guitarist from Mud? Looks a bit like him at about 1.35 and after...
At the same time The Spinners made a great hit ( Workin' my way back to you /love you for a Long time ) which was also a rerecording number of the 4 seasons.
great version filmed at Alton tower's
.....better than the original...no doubt....Franki Valliie's falsetto was a bit too much for me to bear sometimes...........
Weren't these originally with Rocky Sharpe and The Replays?
Original band was Rocky Sharpe and The Razors the split to become Darts and also Rocky Sharpe and The Replays
Darts great band
Bob Fish could certainly hold a tune, man I hate being old 😢
It was their last big hit after the big hits in the late 70s it was the only big hit of the 80s but the group were popular
Just over a year later Barry Manilow took his version to the U.K. top 15
And also reached No 11
In Alton Towers you will find, You can leave your cares behind.
the best version of this song in my opinion.
Alton Towers old ride Corkscrew in the background.
Yeah!
180!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When the verses are sung sounds like Travolta in Grease to me.
Great song but I get the feeling that they were going through the motions by this point.
...Did Roy Wood produce this ?????
No he produced Duke of Earl.
And Can't get enough of your love and also Reet Petite.
Classic
is this david tennents dad..lol..looks a bit like him..great tune though..them were the days...lol
the darts at Alton towers
Darts, yes £2 a go at the games of chance on your way out...🤭🤭😉
Looks like John Dummer and George Currie had left the band by this time. Den Hegarty was already long gone.
Den has been back with the band for decades…. and he’s still as mad 😆
Shame it's out of zinc this spoils a song and band I love.
Yes I know but I found it on 34mm and had it transferred to DVD. Not good at all. I tried overlaying the music onto the video but it didn’t work too well! Maybe a better copy will turn up one day.
wow alton towers before they ripped you off
Darts version better than the original four seasons not my cup of tea at all Barry manilow sounds like the kids from fame.
have you herd shooting party's version of let's hang on
Darts version better than the original? What a plank
Video is awesome it needs restoring from the original negatives
