Good video and nicely explain to! I saw it to late and I order rappel ring and carabiner. But the weight savinf is not a LOT like you said. 4x rappel ring , 2 carabiner, hennesy 42" strap and the paracord on the hennesy are about 340gr and dutchware complet suspension ( strap, close loop, buckle, dutch clip = 230gr so you saved 110g or about 1/4 pound )
Thank you. I swapped my suspension! I used the suspension from dutchware. When ordering they ask you if you have an hennessy and they send you a longer continious loop.
Hello from Germany My question is what to do with the tarp ... can u still put hammock and tarp into the snakeskin? Or must I adjust the tarp on the new suspension straps? When yes witch clips do u use for it? Thx for ur nice video so far.
Thanks for watching. You can put the tarp and the hammock together in the snake skins, but it is a very tight fit. I suggest keeping them separated, for that reason and also so you can deploy the tarp first in bad weather and then put the hammock up underneath it and stay dry. I use a Dutchware continuous ridgeline for my tarp, which you can find here: dutchwaregear.com/product/continuous-ridgeline/#type-and-color
Best if you could put that continuous loop around the hammock end before you put it in through the hammock end loop. This way it is way stronger. Just my 2 cents
I apologize if this was already asked. Wondering what buckles you used and if it matters. There are a lot of choices in design and material ... steel, titanium etc.
Hi there! Right now I am using aluminum buckles from Warbonnet (www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/product/1-buckle-set/). I also have some titanium Beatle Buckles from Dutchware Gear, but stopped using those when they actually cut my suspension. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. I really would like a set of these. Unfortunately with shipping to Newfoundland Canada and exchange I am looking at about 75 dollars. Too steep for buckles I think. @@OutLan
GREAT video. I'm looking to do the same thing to my Hennessy jungle explorer zip XL. What model did you use for this vid? Do all the Hennesy's have two holes in the gathered end?
How to make a similar solution AND keep the attached rainfly system? Whoopies are nice but have the same problem. That's why we still have the original suspension system but tie through a carabiner to make the lashing more convenient.
Thanks for this, 8yrs later suspension swapped. If this method fails and I get a bruised butt, I’ll be back lol. Otherwise, it’s seems solid and straight forward
Not sure what you mean. This is how other companies do their hammock ends. This isn't anything outrageous or out of the ordinary--it's just being done on the Hennessy.
Good job!!! I did the same to my Hennessey back in the day. Would have loved this video then, it would have helped alot. Well done!! :-)
All Things Out Doors Thanks! Don’t know why I didn’t do this years ago. Live and learn.

Thanks for the info!
Nice demonstration, thank you!
Thank you for watching! Glad it helped!
Awesome explanation, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Great info. Good job! Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching!
Use a nail cutter to cut the plastic straps. That will remove any sharp edges/corners
Great demo!

So glad it helped you out!
Have you noticed a change in how the Hammock hangs...I'm where you were before the change...Dutchware is on speed dial

Great video! Where did you purchase the buckle?
So where do you now attach your rain fly tarp ?? On a separate ridge line ?
Yes, I've always used a separate ridge line.
I apologize if this was already asked. Wondering what buckles you used and if it matters. There are a lot of choices in design and material ... steel, titanium etc.

Which huggers would you recommend for the buckles you are using?
I would use anything from Dutchware Gear. These work well:

@@OutLan thanks for the reply and info! I think I will check them out 👍
@@snowfreak79 Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
Really helpful video mate!!
Thanks for watching!
Is this just normal 1/4th inch AmSteel ?
Yep!
Looks great - how much weight do you think you saved on your system with this modification?
I didn't weigh everything out (should have), but I'd say several ounces. Those Spectra lines are not light.
Thanks for watching!
Close to 4oz
Just subscribed, I’m also from Dayton
terri bond Thank you for the sub!!
No problem! Were you out at OutdoorX today?
No, this was the first year I didn't make it because I was camping in northern Ohio. I was sad to miss it because it's my favorite Metroparks event.
Very nice brother. I swapped my Hennessy suspension out for whoopies about 4 yrs ago and was scared to death when I did it lol.
Jason Helmandollar Yeah. Had I known it was that easy I would've done it many years ago. Lol.
so you don't need to wrap it around at all. it hold the wait person?
I haven't fallen so far :-)
@@OutLan Sweet thank for the reply buddy. it helps me out a whole lot

Glad it's still helping some folks out. Definitely worked for me and going strong today.

Love your Dayton Hikers shirt!
Thanks! Love DH!!
But now you need to carry a separate ridge line.
No, not usually.
Looks like he retained the original ridgeline 5:52
Y am I viewing a foreign language on the screen?
Good job... I just posted my very first video. I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out and let me know what you think.
this will rip hammock ends don't do this!
