  • First import of 2022 🤩 I ordered 5 plants from Ecuador (Tropicals Equaflor-a) and 1 plant from Thailand so far this year, and as luck would have it both shipments arrived in the same week. Join me in unboxing the plants and starting the rehab process!

    I love tree fern fiber for rooting chonks! It’s great on its own and as an additive. And the best part is that it is SO much easier to take the substrate off the roots once you’re ready to repot.

    [Disclaimer: long a** comment?]
    Exactly the type of content I needed 💚 Google searches can't do justice and it's hard to find gardens that carry all those so thank you, thank you so much for helping us see the subtle differences. Budding collector here (pardon the pun?). Seriously considering importing as well so Ecuaflora (?) should thank y'all haha
    Also, random silly question: is your hair naturally that gorrrjjj? Care tips please and thank you 🙏
    Note to self: comment on Charmaine's channel too (haven't finished watching her vid yet - just the unboxing bit. Was saving it for plant care weekends like always haha)

    Very nice addition's to your plant collection. I must say very dissapointed to see your hoya & the condition it arrived in any chance of contacting the seller am sure that would qualify for replacement, I have only ever have had to do this once which is fantastic with the 100's I have in my collection. I wish you good luck with your hoya. Thank you for this jaw dropping content 😱 the aroids are simply stunning.

    I love Hoya’s. Sometimes i cannot get mature ones and only come in baby ones. Those come in a cocoa coir plugs until there roots are fully established but you can repot them straight into soil. And keep them in grow lights helps there developments and out of there baby phase into young adults. I was never a fan of Monstera, Anthurium any leafy plants. We all have our favourites mine is Hoya’s, Sansevieria, Euphorbia, Succulents and only my Alocasia Dragon Scale and Alocasia Sinuata. Since i have a hard time with Alocasia’s. Philodendron i only like my White Princess and Pink Princess also hard time with this species too. My only favourite Scindapus is the Moonlight Treubii and the dark form one. Removing the sheets in plants and cleaning the roots and cleaning the chunks is definitely satisfying and therapeutic.

    I am glad I found your video :D I recently ordered from equagenera and I too went a little overboard. The plants weren't too expensive on their own but the whole order was kinda a lot of money for a first import ever lmao so I am quite anxious. At this point I am prepared to have no roots and/or a chunk in a few days after the import cause I heard a lot of different stuff 😅
    Gonna buy some rooting hormone and get my castille soap ready 🌿 thanks for showing the clean up process and explaining everything you do, that was really helpful! Fingers crossed that they won't arrive that bad :D
    After 3 weeks since you uploaded the video, are your philodendron roots a little more established?

    I see your sp silver does the same floppy leaf thing mine is doing! I bagged mine to try and cure some of the flop but any idea as to why this happens to the leaves or how to fix it?

    • @youdontevengrowhere

      Mine is curving back but it’s not floppy - it’s firmly in that bent back position 😂 my theory is that it’s searching for light so I placed it in a more evenly lit spot and the newer leaf hasn’t done the curve back thing so far 🤔
      And thank youuuuuu ❤️❤️

    I've got two questions! :) you mentioned cleaning the imports before putting them in water and in the ikea bins - what do you use to clean them?
    Where were you able to pick up your systemic spinosad? (I'm also CAD, just ON).

    • @youdontevengrowhere

      If the plants come in grimy with hard water or pesticide deposits I clean it with Pink Solution or Dr Bronner’s! But this time they looked pretty good so I just used water.

    There’s a philo rubrocinctum platinum in one of your fav videos. Was it from equaflora too? The one I got from ecuagenera wasn’t nice looking which is a stump now. Planning to order from tropical plants this time.

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  2 роки тому

      That rubrocinctum platinum I got from North Shore Tropicals, so I’m not actually sure where it was ordered from!
      Equaflora definitely packs plants a lot better, and I’m seeing with the slowed down demand the plants seem to be coming in with more roots

    What is the sulfur product you are using? I'm unfamiliar with this technique. Is the sulfur the rooting hormone or anti fungal?

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  2 роки тому

      I use rooting hormone mixed with sulphur powder (sulphur being anti fungal)! I’m not sure if the rooting hormone actually works but I mix it in there anyways. My intention is mostly to dry the cut end and prevent fungal growth, any rooting boost would just be a bonus 😆

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  2 роки тому

      I can’t speak for everyone who cleans chonks, but for me I want to be able to see the stem and cleaning it helps me to assess the stem health and catch rot. Also, the scraping seems to wake up and activate growth in the older parts of the plant!
