    Aloha Emma, Thank You for this video. Great help. Today I just received an order of seven bareroot seedling anthuriums from Ecuagenera Ecuador. My previous orders came as potted anthuriums from EcuageneraUS in Florida, to Maui, Hawaii. But todays order was my 1st import outside the US, & the journey was bareroot from Ecuador to Florida to Honolulu to Maui……
    So please know your video was very very helpful, & my new babies are now accumulating & checked into Hotel de la Plastic Tote……… Mahalo!!!!!!

      Yeah they are gorgeous! Anthuriums can be a bit scary and good on you for knowing your boundaries. If you're looking for one to try out, get a clarinervium. They're comparatively inexpensive and require similar care. I started out on a clarinervium and when I didn't kill that I figured I could probably keep others too

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 роки тому +1

      I was testing out which method I preferred as I had been recommended both. For these specific plants it was a size thing, the ones that fit in the container got water while the others, moss. But I'd say do what works best for you!

      Oh my goodness that's so exciting! If it arrives in soil I'd probably leave it rather than stressing it out more with a repot. Then once it's acclimated (maybe after a month or so) you can repot it if you want.

    How long did you leave your grow lights on for the first 7 days? Also what intensity did you keep the lights at? Im starting with 2 hours a day at 10% light intensity in a prop bin, ramping up about 5% a day. Plants are in a cup of rodi water with superthrive, that are in a prop bin with new damp sphagnum moss to keep the high humidity.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 роки тому +1

      I left it on all day, off at night for the entire duration of this video. Mine can't be adjusted in intensity, so it just was what it was. My plants seemed to be okay with it though

    Hi there! This video is amazingly helpful!
    I got distracted after watching it though and forgot to soak my anthurium warocqueanum in water for two hours before putting it in a pot with spagnum moss. I also kind of squeezed the excess water out of the moss. So now it’s almost two in the morning and I can’t stay up for another two hours to soak it and then pot with moss.
    I’ve also put it in a clear box. (not completely airtight)
    It’s bare roots from Ecuador, shipping in moss and it just got delivered today.
    Do you think I should leave it as is, or take it back out of the new damp moss, in the morning, soak it, and then put back into a pot with (wetter) moss? And then back into the clear box? (And tape up the box to make it airtight)?
    This is my first anthurium and I’m really hoping not to kill it. 😢
    I would very much appreciate any information you might have time/energy to share!

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Рік тому +1

      honestly I think it should be fine as is. What did you end up doing? Also don't stress about making the box air tight. It's not necessary and will likely still keep quite high humidity if you put a layer of water at the bottom of it

    • @juliangrimm835
      @juliangrimm835 Рік тому

      @@GoodGrowing thank you so much for the response!
      I had it in some damp spag moss in a box, but the morning after I commented, I put it back in a pot of just water and let it soak for about 12 hours. (While keeping it in a box by a window) the meter in the box said the temp was generally between 65-70 and humidity above 85. After I soaked it,I checked the roots again, and had NO root rot at all! Now I’ve put it back in a pot with a bunch of moss and have been keeping it in the box with a grow light on it. It seems to be holding up ok. I haven’t seen any discoloration of the leaves or any wilting.
      I got some fish emulsion and I have some mycorrhizae coming in the mail and I was going to add those somehow? It’s in moss right now, so maybe at this point, I should just wait until I transfer to soil?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 роки тому +1

      Did you order it from a different country? If not, then you shouldn't really need to acclimate it. Though it is best practice to quarantine new plants for 2 weeks to make sure they haven't got pests or anything like that that could spread to your other plants.
      Did you buy a cutting or a full plant? If it's a cutting, yeah straight to water should be fine. If it's a full potted plant, I wouldn't suggest switching it to water for a while, if ever

    • @MartinGarry
