One of the most adorable parts of Fate Hollow Ataraxia is Saber suggesting to Shirou in complete sincerity that he fill the Emiya estate grounds with ducks, pigs and cattle that they would raise and butcher themselves so that Shirou could make specialist gourmet food items for her. If Saber is uncertain what gifts would pleases a man of the current era its because she already asked him if he would be interested in large quantities of livestock and was confused and a bit sad when he turned her down.
PS: Saber buying Shirou a pressure cooker is a bit like when a man buys his wife lingerie for her birthday. Its a sneaky sneaky gift for herself.

Elsewhere is HA Saber is also very concerned that the Tohsaka's have "permitted" the Matou to live in a larger house then they do, as by medieval custom its highly improper for a subject to have larger holdings then their Lord.
These are both basically different variations on the same joke. Saber, despite the info the grail gives her, still fundamentally thinks of things in terms of her own era, and thinks of the Emiya, and Matou houses as fiefs under Tohsakas lordship.
Which ironically, given the way the Magi world works, isn't as far from the truth as Shirou thinks.

The fate series is not meant to be a fight for strength, or political correctness. It is a fight of ideals. Personally Gilgamesh is NOT my favourite character, but he is definitely one of the most interesting character. In terms of strength, he could've beaten alter saber and shirou easily just with a flick of ea. You say you support "strong independent woman" yet prefer shirou over Gilgamesh. Thats ironic because while Gilgamesh accepted that saber was a king and was powerful, shirou always saw her as a weak fragile girl that needed his protection despite being weak himself. Thats meant to be an insult to all the independent woman out there.
Secondly, I do agree with you, those pictures of the sad emo Gilgamesh and saber are in fact out of character. Saber's beauty resides in herself being a martyr unable to find happiness. A strong independent person in other words, something you feminists fight so desperately for. Yet you are okay with people like shirou comparing that majestic figure to himself. And Gilgamesh, the jester of the fate series is not a sad emo because his love for saber is not fully romantic. He once himself stated that saber's beauty resides on her being unattainable. which means that there are some twisted romantic interest but its mostly how a king loves his treasures. But as soon as they end up together, thats when saber would lose her value in the eyes of Gilgamesh.

@@shinobu3617 ive read the epic and its weird that you keep calling enkidu that (￣.￣) he is basically gilgamesh's sworn brother and rival and Enkidu is already married to a local lady.
He was literally made to contest and overpower Gilgamesh since he is a posh little brat, and they are basically homies after all their debacle and also he is Gil's guardian and bodyguard on his adventures. I like Fate but I prefer Enkidu as his brother and family but never a boyfriend.

The epic has been interpreted very differently, similarly to Achilles' relationship to Patroclus.
The thing is, back in old times, it was completely normal for male companions to also be lovers, while, yes, also being married to a woman. This only changed after Abrahamic religions started dominating the world.
These religions hid, overwrote, and slandered historical figures who didn't fit their narrative.
Say for instance, Queen Semiramis. She was a historical figure who was looked up to in a very positive light, that is until Christians decided to change her story, because they couldn't handle the fact that a woman was so highly regarded. They slandered her as an evil witch, who was engaging in a sexual relationship with her own son.
Now, putting all of this aside, it's very clear that the Fate version of Gil/Enkidu is meant to be viewed as gay (not explicitly gay, but the typical "anime gay" you see in like... Every sports anime ever. Homoerotic, but not really, really gay.).
Placing Enkidu's valentines day flowers (from the game) next to Gil in the flashback when he is looking up at him lovingly was not an accident, they knew what they were doing.
