I mean... the stereotypical "modern" homes we see in america were usually built in the 70s, so you're not wrong. They loved experimenting with different geometric shapes.
I think this is my favorite of your flips you've done this season. I've only been playing for two days. Seeing how much fun you're having with this game nudged me to go ahead and buy it. I had to laugh when I realized that every time you open a door to go into a room you immediately turn around and close it. Minecraft much? ;-) Looking forward to more!
Just from a audience pov, your houses are very well designed and we'll decorated, but they're also impractical. Imagine having to walk all the way across the house to go for a shower etc
Believe it or not, this IS modern, at least for the 1950s and 1960s. That's the time when modernism was just beginning, so think of this as early modernism or retro.
I love the modern home design. In a future episode, it might be cool to see a house go full futuristic with some of those design elements, but all in all, I am really enjoying this series.
So amused to see Wels making a hallway and a hallway room! I thought he disliked hallways! Some houses are just so big you can't escape including them!
I love these vids but you always have so few bathrooms, you could’ve definitely made it a 3/2 or 3/2.5 and it would be a lot more comfortable for ppl living there
Okay I love watching these videos and I know it’s just a game, but does it bother anyone else when he does a half bathroom beside the two rooms and does a full bathroom on the complete other side of the house? Like so all three rooms would be sharing one bathroom and the two rooms would have to travel all the way across the house to shower. Idk I take things to seriously.
Genuinely loving your House Flipper videos (you're the only person I've watched play this who /hasn't/. made me yell at my TV with their terrible taste). I came up with the same design for built-in wardrobes in my builds, glad to see other people using them too :D I'm surprised to hear you calling bedroom furniture "vanity" though; here that would mean the bathroom cabinet/counter with the sink in it. Must be a regional thing?
School buildings, especially older ones, often have radiators. Hotels/motels can have them as well Finding them in residential housing is far less common in the US than it is in the UK
Hint: add a sink to the laundry room and it will register as a laundry room (it might also require a towel radiator - my main PC died at the start of the week, just when I was getting back into Houseflipper (due to this series) so I haven’t had my memory refreshed in a little while)
You’re probably never gonna be seeing this Wels but I used to watch every single one of your 12 hour Rimworld streams back when you did those That’s how I found you and continued to watch you streams as you played more games. I know you didn’t like Minecraft so that’s why you took a break, and you had to go back to it as Twitch wasn’t earning enough (that’s my understanding at least) I just wanted to say that I really hope you’re having fun with making your content on here Keep it up man
In Iceland, all the houses have radiators, but we also have very cheap warm water so we can justify piping it into the houses for heating. I don't think I've ever been in a house with central heating
🕺 For everyone commenting about the radiators. I live in the USA for 4 plus decades. I have lived in may different house. The older the house the more likely it would have radiators. Pretty much anything built after the 1950s would almost be guaranteed to have central heating. Air conditioning is another story that came around the end of the 1960s. I have seen so many different styles of heating.
weirdly enough, the questionable bathroom colours, the wardrobes being everywhere, the rugs, the dated furniture in general and that one room that looks cold with the pool table all remind me of an amalgamation of soviet era houses and current russian apartments. the bathrooms however remind me of how 'rich' people and the country side have their bathrooms in general in a post soviet country. horrific. Its horrific.
Funnily enough, a non-open floorplan may be more modern than you think; lots of people who move into or renovate into open floor plans come to realize that the walls were there for a reason. Kitchen walls keep heat and smells in the kitchen when cooking, big open spaces take lots of energy to climate control in either direction. Walls also dampen sound, so there are more areas in a given house for private conversation that won't immediately be overheard. Walls around the kitchen also give you the luxury of keeping your cooking mess contained and not being an eyesore if you can't be assed to clean properly while entertaining (and many open floor plan homes at the upper end have a second secret kitchen for any real cooking. ALL THAT having been said, don't gotta care about that in this game.
People wanted RADIATORS? Dude, *radiators suck.* Or at least, the ones in my house suck. I live in the US, but I guess it's more of a thing for older buildings? IDK. Anyway, trying to get radiators on is kinda a nightmare and they seem so unbalanced, at times. One room could be sweltering even with a window open, and another could be stone cold with sealed windows. Then, the way to "activate" them is annoying and the key to screw them tight or loose is small and can easily be lost, so _that's_ fun. Also, they are _serious ANTI-space savers._ The one next to me is proof. I'd love to have my desk there, _but NOPE!_ ...I'd trade for regular US vent heating any day.
is there a "creative mode" type game mode for House Flipper that lets you plan out the outer walls of houses and roofs and such? i feel like that would be a very nice feature since you cant customize the outer walls in the normal mode
i mean, the house is modern in the sense that it was built some time after the fall of the roman empire. so if you look at it from that perspective..... yeah pretty modern
As far as I rember my arts classes correct: modern started arround the 1950/60 ish and post modern started around the 1990s or something like that... Soo... Also, at least in my area furniture normaly is not part of the house but your stuff to bring... the house is normaly empty if you buy it.
Image if real life house flips started with ripping all the walls out. I do wish he would keep some walls maybe even challenge himself and don't worry about any of the walls
Wels I think you are thinking of modern meaning today not the modern design stlye. If you look at the modern design style this house and furniture fits. If you are thinking of newer building we are now in the post modern style. Modern style dates from roughly the 20s to 70s.

UA-camr gets clickbaited? That is a strange turn of events indeed.
Fun Fact: Ceder was only said once this video! He's improving!
He replaced Cedar with White this time XD
XD
Maybe the point is that it was abandoned for so long that at some point, the interior actually was modern.
I mean... the stereotypical "modern" homes we see in america were usually built in the 70s, so you're not wrong. They loved experimenting with different geometric shapes.
Didn’t expect an upload on Christmas, definitely a pleasant surprise

I feel like those moles must be pretty huge for their hills to be able to stop a person from walking over them X3
If wels ever came to England he’d be surprised about how many radiators are in 1 house lol
yeah i know some of the rooms in my house have 2
There's 8 in my small 2 bed home
I have 3 in my living room
Coming from Australia, I had literally never seen a wall-mounted radiator until I played House Flipper :p
@@TheArtGremblin what how do I handle it in winter

Why not make 2 full bathrooms and then close off that area to the masrebedroom so it has it's own bathroom
2 years later but that's what i was thinking
I love these vids but you always have so few bathrooms, you could’ve definitely made it a 3/2 or 3/2.5 and it would be a lot more comfortable for ppl living there
I agree, that and the general lack of desks on the bedrooms always irks me!
Thats alot of bathrooms 😅 ive never lived in a home with that many. Maybe 2

Same! Also, one shower for three bedrooms is not realistic?

My old school that was built in the 1940's 50's has radiators

Ok Google, define "oxymoron": "luxurious 1.5 bathroom house"
Notice how it said “modern house” in quotes
Edit: spelling

Hi Welsh! You actually inspired me to play this game and now im addicted haha!
Thank you for the Christmas gift of watching you play it was very appreciated
I want to watch wels's house flipper and when I came back, his house is already good-
You see this house as "traditional" and not very "modern", but think about it... this WAS considered modern 50+ years ago 🤣
Love the house flipper series Wels! just got the game on PC excited to join the wagon
Ah, the after vs after shots strike again. :D
Merry Merry Christmas Welsknight!
Base board heaters is likely what you mean at 10:32 -ish. The current house I live in has a few in the basement.
Gotta love base board heating. That's what I have in my apartment and an air conditioner that is the bedroom. I have fans in the living room.
I would love to see you try and make a house with one giant room (+bathroom), it would be interesting to see how that challenge would be answered!
I've got to say, this might just be my favorite house ever.
Yea you're right

In the United States central air, in floor heating, and portable heating/cooling units are popular.
You can stop the lights from turning off in the rooms when you leave by going to settings, gameplay and unticking eco lighting system
Tried that for a little while, but it causes a lighting glitch where the light from other rooms bleeds through walls and floors, so I changed it back.
Okay that makes sense, sorry 🙂

Can I get a house designed by wels?😂
You should do a montage of you doing the clean up.
How the turntables...
The thing is I clicked on it instantly thinking it was Hermitcraft but turn out it is a different game. But its cool.
And you say you’re not good with interiors 🤔
