Oh my god - thank you all so much for watching this insanely long video haha. If you need any DLC for Planet Zoo and you want to save a lot of money, go here: www.instant-gaming.com/?igr=gamer-a78666 Also, please use this comment to answer with ANYTHING that you still need! I will happily make more tutorials for you including for the upcoming console version 😎👍
I just started playing this game and all I can say is THANK YOU. This is so so helpful. Making a 3 and a half hour long video for new players truly is a testament of how much you love this game.
Building is so overwhelming but this video helps simplify the entire game and makes me interested in the aspects I previously dreaded. Thank you, Rudi!
41 minutes in and I feel like I've found the holy grail. I've always watched Planet Zoo building videos but actually obtaining the game I've had a new appreciation for how difficult it can be at first. Immensely helpful!!
It's been a year since I checked in on my Planet Zoo, and even longer since I was actively building! To say I feel rusty is an understatement, but this video looks like it is exactly what I need to refresh and reignite my love of the game, so thank you!!!
I used to play a Zoo game waaaay back and just had to buy it when I came across Planet Zoo. However, I got super frustrated with its complexitiy until I found your video - Thank you!!!
I have to say, when you added the nettles everywhere, I knew you've thought about realism! I work for a zoo in a temperate region in Europe and it is the WORST during spring/summer when they start popping up and you try to get rid of them, and you never can. So you end up burning yourself every time you're in the enclosure to clean, feed, or leave enrichment. So you captured it very well 😂
I live in California and its basically the same here lol. Might be a different species of nettle and they grow all year round but they take over from late fall to early spring because thats when we get rain
Golden Llama Camelll. THIS WAS INCREDIBLE!! I struggle a lot with planning out stuff custom places as well as creating plazas or nice looking underwater viewings even after watching countless people and you have no idea how much this helped me!
That was my issue too! There were so many buttons and options that I felt so overstimulated that I shut down and just did the bare minimum, being too confused to be creative
I love this so much! I bet this took so long to edit, to plan, and to make, but forever grateful that you’re putting in the work! Hope this video gets as much attention as it definitely deserves!
I definitely took longer than I was planning yeah :D I needed to redo couple of things and also some crashes didn´t come in handy (thats also why the new shop isn´t in)
I think i have learned a really important thing here in order to make it look realistic in overall and way lesser gridish as i always end up doing, Going to test it for today to see! Thank you much for this video!
Wow. Give me a second, and zip, zam, boom, you've got an info building using a lattice piece that I would never consider using. You builders for this game and Planet Coaster make it look so easy. But the hard part is even thinking of what to build and seeing the design in your head. I just don't have it. Thank the Lord for blueprints. Of course, I greatly appreciated all the little tips and tricks. Some I already knew, but most of them I didn't. Very nice. Thank you for taking the time to make such a long video.
(Golden Llama Camel) I watched the whole video in one sitting, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I want to get better at Planet Zoo, specifically in building prettier zoos, and this has helped me already! I will likely be coming back to this many times!
I’m really grateful for this! I’m going to try to follow along and see what I can learn. I only just finished the tutorial and feel like I’m still missing so much
I hate how when you do the tutorials from the game with Nancy I think her name is when she tells you what to do how, it sounds pretty easy, but when you're on your own, you completely forgot what you were doing in the tutorials and you find yourself completely lost.
Golden llama camel! I feel like I learned so much from this video but I know there’s still so much to learn! I’m definitely ready to continue learning through your videos!
Omg this is everything I needed!! I'm working my way slowly through the video, because I want to make sure I absorb every bit of information. I've been hugely overwhelmed by Planet Zoo, and this is helping so much!!
Danke Rudi 😉🐫 Golden Lama Kamel 😉
Amazing video! I'm going to start taking notes via comment so I can see it later and edit as needed. Long video and I don't want to forget tips. Terrain placement: - Turn off v-sync in graphics settings at start of game to help with terrain placement when modifying terrain. - Use terrain placement to layout your zoo from the start. Pathing: - Use flatten terrain option to make cool easy ramps. - Hold ctrl when placing paths to avoid auto connects. - Hold z when connecting a path to already laid path to make for cool t-junctions. - Place a 2m wood panel into the ground when building underwater viewing so that you can then know the perfect terrain flatting for path. - Use curved slopes setting to make a curved ramp path. - When you have an awkward corner to a "plaza", add a junction path to the corner and then delete the corner. The path smooths out.
This is such a wonderful service. I'm brand new to the game and because of this video, building went from overwhelming to fun! So many other videos assume I know the hotkeys to move things around and I DON'T!
As someone who also uses the free build mod, I appreciate that you left in all the "what the hell's". Every single time you are annoyed or find an issue it's generally fixed by the free build mod lol.
I'm 43 minutes in and this is an amazing tutorial! I especially love the pathing section. As a new player (honestly even past that point), pathing is so hard to work with. The delete trick for smoothing corners is amazing as well. I can't wait to use it in my own game.
Oh my freaking God, I needed this so much. I started my journey in Planet Zoo and I was overwhelmed. I understand the mechanics even better with your explanation and I liked how you tackled the tricky parts of the game! Thanks a lot. I'll definitely check out the other tutorials!
I always get demotivated while trying to build a Zoo because I'm bad at it. Thank you for the Amazing tutorial! You're now my Sensei! This is really going to help me lots.
Golden llama camel! Thank you so much for this. There were definately some new tricks and things I didn't know that are not something you are going to find by looking at specific tutorials. A true complete guide!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! One of the BEST beginner tutorials for this game. I was stuck in square habitat hell, but now I learned how to make more realistic & natural looking habitats. I really appreciate the time you've put in to this video.
I watched the whole thing and learnt so much, thank you for making this video! I wanted to start getting more advanced with my custom buildings, but seeing people on youtube build so "fluently" seemed like it would never be possible for me. now I know I can do it!
Thank you so so much, this is so useful whether you are just starting out, or want to elevate your experience playing to a new level. You are absolutely awesome for putting this together.
I'm a few hundred h0ours in so a bit beyond beginner but there's still so much I don't quite grasp and OMG I'm so excited to watch a tutorial this in-depth!
Thank you so very much for this video! Wow such depth and you have transformed my outlook from intimidated to very excited about this game!! Info was excellent and so good to see the transformation from the rough terrain paint at the start to what it became!
I have seen the whole thing, very instructive, the only thing I have seen that you have not taken into account in the habitats are the areas of cover or houses for the animals to avoid stress and to have a rigid area to rest.
Golden Llama Camel! What an awesome tutorial. I just started playing Planet Zoo last week and this really answered most of my questions when it comes to the building part. I’m a 3D artist and a lot of the stuff in here is very similiar such as the approach to foliage and terrain but we have access to better tools such as random scattering where you can simply paint in the plants you need. I know sort of what I want but was frustrated by not knowing the tools and you explained it all brilliantly. I’m still going to feel like the tools are a bit crude to what I’m used to (although pretty advanced for a game) but I really don’t feel as limited after watching this. I love that you didn’t overexplain things and gave us viewers credit for understanding things the first time around. My first zoo builds have been mostly throwing things in there and just playing around but it’s very easy to lose the sense of scale and make things way too big or small. For my next build I’m going to plan out things a lot better and just using the terrain paint tools like you did to make a sketch will be very helpful.
Got a good tip in the first section, 5 minutes in. I wondered if there was a keyboard shortcut to increase/decrease size of paintbrush/paths etc. Thanks for the tip!! I can already tell the remaining 3+hrs will be no less helpful :)
Calling golden lama camel!! Zoo tycoon is my most favourite game and I was really intimidated to move to Planet Zoo because I found it really complex. Thanks for patiently putting this video together. I learnt so much more than the inbuilt tutorials . Much love to you 😘
Golden llama camel! This was so helpful, I've not played for a couple of years but suddenly got the bug for it again, so I needed a refresher! Always loved your builds previously so I'm really pleased to see you're still doing them!
I made the plunge - I watched your DLC tier video and purchased the first two rows of DLC’s + the base game as u placed the deluxe at the bottom hehehe - now I need to quit my day job to devote my life to this heheh. Rudi you’re a master - after work today which is probably around midnight - i’m gonna make two huge pots of tea and rewatch your video and it’s entirety pausing and trying - Thank you for all the videos you give us
Golden Llama Camel. Thanks heaps for this. I've been playing this game for a long time but I'm not great at building intricate things, and you make it look so effortless. Great tutorial.
Thank-you for making this tutorial! I watched the whole thing after playing off and on for nearly a year. Buildings and custom enclosures have been a mystery to me. I play 'Challenge" mode and never knew I could delete one of the guest spawners for extra funds. (I did a few tests and could not do this in Challenge. More experimentation showed I could not delete them in 'Franchise' mode either. This must be a change from a more recent update. Thank Frontier Development for the 'Loan' option!) I know how to do research and take care of the animals. With about twenty enclosures, most of my animals are happy and healthy. I've done all of the research for both vets and mechanics and I have enough money set aside for a major zoo remodel. Thanks to your video, I have months of play just doing that. Thanks for your dedication to the game.
Ok Rudi, watched almost every minute (had a nap half way through...its a beautiful Sunday here in New Zealand) but awesome work thank you...good to see the nuts and bolts and know I am on the right path when building. Always inspiring mate, keep up the fantastic and insanely creative work and all the best to you and the family for 2024 and beyond!
When I watched on twitch and later bought this game I thought it’s a zoo economy simulation where you can also build stuff. I soon found out that it’s a building game that allows you to put animals into your creations. At first this caught me wrong-footed. Like when you think you’ll drink tomato juice but it’s wine. Thanks to this video (and those of other artists) I find myself enjoying sculpting the earth for hours, and enjoying learning the infamous “mud pillar technique” (mpt). Make sure you watch that video on Rudi’s channel after this one. His mpt video is easily the best I’ve found.
1:54 What you tell about placing alot of rocks, and groupp them. So you can have alot of small little rocks, is amazing! That trick i will use! Thanks alot! I love having rocks, but im so bad at making it, so thanks!
Watched thru the whole thing and learned a lot. Really appreciate the part on gap filling, since I struggling with it the most. Can't wait to implement into my own zoo
I have been playing planet zoo for 3 years, but I learned so much from this video! Thank you for sharing. Also, never heard the word finicky before 😂 loved it!
I can't believe I just watched a 3 hour tutorial. Golden Lama Camel! It was so worth it, I have 800 hours into this game and still learned so much! Thank you for making this video!
This is such a helpful video! Thanks so much for it! I also wanted to say that your English is amazing, as someone who tries (and mostly fails 😂) to learn languages I wish I could get to this level of fluency! I also know that, for me, I really appreciate being told when I pronounce something wrong, so I hope you'll feel the same when I tell you that the 'ch' in chisel is the same as the 'ch' in chain, so the harder form over the softer form. The fact that that's your only mispronunciation in the whole video is incredible!
Oh thanks! Also thats a new one, like a new hint. Will try to remember. And yes absolutely love to hear these advice. Especially in the form you packed it
Golden Llama Camel. Honestly the best tutorial out there. Very excited to start building again now. One thing though, maybe you could make a tutorial for doing landscaping of the buildable area? THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS WAS AMAZING!
Was thinking I might go back to PZ, even redownloaded it and revisit my old zoos a few days ago. PZ is still my favorite zoo game ever but unfortunately the building aspect is too overwhelming. I used to find consolation in not playing by watching Rudi and others great builders. Might actually go back to fill up my zoo now. Thanks Rudi!
❤golden llama camel Also, this took days because I made a zoo along with this. Working on the final fill ins and I think this is my best zoo yet! Thank you
Golden Llama Camel! Thank you for this video, I was so discouraged by the whole decorating and creating buildings aspect of the game and this made it very simple to get into! And all the tips are super helpful! .
Golden Llama Camellll!! XD Thanks so much for this, surprisingly fun to watch considering how long it is hahaha (tho I have to confess I watched it at 1.5 speed ) But it's also a great referencce video to jump back to. Saved to my planet zoo playlist
The pathing tricks are a godsend - fighting with the pathing system in Planet Zoo just to create something even remotely nice/natural was so incredibly frustrating so having these tricks to beat the final boss of Planet Zoo (the pathing system) is just perfect
Oh hi 0:58 a little cutie too. Thanks for posting this, love a long video like this when I”m trying to learn a robust game like this. I hate tutorials that cram everything in 10 minutes. As a new PS5 player, very helpful, thumbs up
This is what I was looking for. Never in my decades of gaming have I needed a 3 hour how to guide for one game 😂 Then I got Planet Zoo for Father's Day 😂
Danke für das tolle Video^^ ich hoffe, damit kann ich mich endlich mal aufraffen, einen Zoo von Grund auf zu starten.. spiele meistens nur die Kampagne, weil ich mich so lost fühle.
Oh my god - thank you all so much for watching this insanely long video haha.

what continent/biome did you use for this zoo?
@@nisknodu Temperate and it was selected for Oceania
I just started playing this game and all I can say is THANK YOU. This is so so helpful. Making a 3 and a half hour long video for new players truly is a testament of how much you love this game.

Zoo tycoon!
Bookmark this, it's a fantastic crash course!
This video got me to finally start trying to decorate buildings and create custom barriers and more realistic habitats
yay!
I have to say, when you added the nettles everywhere, I knew you've thought about realism!

Impeccable timing. I just bought the base game and it was way too overwhelming when opening sandbox mode. This video is a beast!
:) glad to hear !
That was my issue too! There were so many buttons and options that I felt so overstimulated that I shut down and just did the bare minimum, being too confused to be creative

Golden Llama Camel!
good god how many of you really watched it!

56:11 a very very good procedure to create water in diffult sections of your zoo!
Golden llama camel!
Thank you so much for this. There were definately some new tricks and things I didn't know that are not something you are going to find by looking at specific tutorials. A true complete guide!
Thank you for this video! Just started playing yesterday and I'm so happy I found this. I'm ready to make some beautiful zoos!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! One of the BEST beginner tutorials for this game. I was stuck in square habitat hell, but now I learned how to make more realistic & natural looking habitats. I really appreciate the time you've put in to this video.

oh my! great stuff here haha!
We need more people like you, my friend. Thank you for this.
Thank you so so much, this is so useful whether you are just starting out, or want to elevate your experience playing to a new level. You are absolutely awesome for putting this together.
:-) You are welcome!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I've watched so many videos to learn how to build better and even still I learned SO MANY new things from your video!!!
Thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial! I will watch it again as i play 🥰 hopefully building and planing wont be so frustrating anymore 😂.
I'm a few hundred h0ours in so a bit beyond beginner but there's still so much I don't quite grasp and OMG I'm so excited to watch a tutorial this in-depth!
picked this game up on this week's steam sale and it was so overwhelming! thanks for making this video! i'm going to follow along...
For my next build I’m going to plan out things a lot better and just using the terrain paint tools like you did to make a sketch will be very helpful.
very happy to hear! and yes, 3D definitely helps in this game!
Much love to you 😘
Wow what a great tutorial! The long format vs lots of big jumps or timelapses makes it very easy to se exactly why you're doing what you do
:) Very nice it works so well for you
Golden llama camel! This was so helpful, I've not played for a couple of years but suddenly got the bug for it again, so I needed a refresher! Always loved your builds previously so I'm really pleased to see you're still doing them!

I have been playing planet zoo for 3 years, but I learned so much from this video! Thank you for sharing.
Also, never heard the word finicky before 😂 loved it!
It's the best word
This is gonna be so helpful to console players when this game comes to console. Thank you Rudi!
:) I will do this again with a console version for sure !
I can't believe I just watched a 3 hour tutorial. Golden Lama Camel! It was so worth it, I have 800 hours into this game and still learned so much! Thank you for making this video!

Golden Llama Camel. Honestly the best tutorial out there. Very excited to start building again now. One thing though, maybe you could make a tutorial for doing landscaping of the buildable area? THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS WAS AMAZING!
what exactly do you mean? Landscaping of the buildable area? Then I can look into it =)
Was thinking I might go back to PZ, even redownloaded it and revisit my old zoos a few days ago. PZ is still my favorite zoo game ever but unfortunately the building aspect is too overwhelming. I used to find consolation in not playing by watching Rudi and others great builders. Might actually go back to fill up my zoo now. Thanks Rudi!
Amazing video... thank you very much for taking such a long time to explain all of the things covered in the video
:) you are welcome!
❤golden llama camel
Also, this took days because I made a zoo along with this. Working on the final fill ins and I think this is my best zoo yet! Thank you
Honestly it's the best 'get started' video
Thanks :)
thank you sooo much for making this its so nice to have one video to reference when trying to get better at this game!
:) you are welcome
Made it to that golden llama camel! Amazing video, thank you so much!!! I'm ready to tackle some scenarios now :D
Golden Llama Camel thanks for taking the time to do this video. Great tips and tricks.
The pathing tricks are a godsend - fighting with the pathing system in Planet Zoo just to create something even remotely nice/natural was so incredibly frustrating so having these tricks to beat the final boss of Planet Zoo (the pathing system) is just perfect
Golden llama camel!!!
Thanks so much for making this, it has been AMAZINGLY HELPFUL! thank you!!
Golden llama camel (this tutorial was super easy to follow and very much needed!)
Try control + shift + d to copy groups, makes it way easier to get small things aligned perfectly
I have a zsu event submission to work on so this is perfect for having something to listen to to learn more pz while doing other things
I really enjoyed this golden lama camel, the video was great and gave me some insight to what to do :)
Golden Llama Camel, what a walkthrough! Thank you for this
Oh hi 0:58 a little cutie too. Thanks for posting this, love a long video like this when I”m trying to learn a robust game like this. I hate tutorials that cram everything in 10 minutes. As a new PS5 player, very helpful, thumbs up
Golden llama camel 🤣Thanks, Rudi. Really great, informative and fun tutorial.
Golden Llama Camel, I loved this and would love to see more long videos like this.

Been off PZ for awhile, looking forward to this tutorial and getting back to the game🐪
Great video. Thanks for all the time invested to create it 🙏
It's like you heard my cries XD I just raged due to building issues... Open UA-cam and here this video waits for me :D
Thank you for this!

Then I got Planet Zoo for Father's Day 😂
Hahahaha and here you go!
Thanks for this. I'm pretty new with this game and literally looking for some guides.
