This is why we use collateral protection insurance (CPI) through my dealership. Insurance lapsing can make or break a customer. If insurance lapses we just force place our collateral protection insurance to be collected with the customer’s car note. The customer still has to have liability insurance when they get CPI, but here in GA, I just leave that between them and the state. Before using CPI , I used to have to cut cars off when customers lapsed with insurance. It really sucked having to do that, especially with customers who otherwise paid their car notes.
