Hey Ryan, Cool pedal and sounds!.... BUT I am more interested in that guitar! WOW! Very much a "Jetsons"-Vibe to it. Thanks for the cool review and demo
I run thru a marshal origin 20 head so I don't have reverb built it. I have been using the same digitech digiverb for about a million years now and it's great for room reverb (what I have primarily used) but now that I kinda got hooked on a surfier sound (is that a word?) It doesn't cut it. This pedal actually sounds like a solid mix of what I have and use mixed with the sounds I want to play around with.
That was pretty cool, I totally get what you are saying about it not being drippy enough, but that expression controlled trem is pretty sweet. I could definitely see this being a usable pedal- the reverb built into my old Japanese Fender clone is an early Belden brick, and sounds really grainy. The reverb I was really impressed by was the EHX Oceans 11- the spring setting on there sounds better than many stand alone reverbs I've tried as well as anything built in to an amp that is not real springs. It's the closest thing to a real full size spring tank I have found.
Most small tanks have that metallic sound to them. Perhaps there's a way for a pedal builder to include a notch filter that would specifically address those problem frequencies. But as it stands I don't dig that metallic verb.
Great video, thanks ! I saw this reverb/tremolo pedal yesterday for the first time on the pedalboard of the other guitarist in my surfrock band. The reverb sounds really good in the mix, but the surfybear (I have the surfybear metal) sounds much better 😁 The tremolo is nice.
I really don't understand the point of using a actual spring that doesn't get a drip sound. If that's the case people can just get a digital emulation pedal that's much smaller and I'm sure much more affordable.
That's the second time I've seen you wear that shirt, The Shame Flute. I feel like I've seen that before, but cannot for the life of me remember. I know I will be like duh when I figure it out, or someone reminds me.....anyone?
I have the white whale and had a Mr Black Deluxe before it, the white whale beats it. I saw your review of the Tre Verb, how does that compare to this as much cheaper and smaller for pedal board space?
i thought that really came alive when paired with the overdrive. i love a trashy reverb (trashy in a good way! in an intentional stylistic choice way!) and the overdrive really accentuates that. i think it'd sound sound pretty cool into a hot amp too
not enough drip but the tremolo saves it nicely repeats fast when you dime it i recon my vintage fuzz pedal would go well next to it lol but im still undecided.because today unless someone states its analogue i find many are not & try to blag that no one makes analogue pedals no more.which is ALL LIES analogue is king tone & pedal makers that go digital only dont deserve my hard earned money.because the truth is its the only format capable of recreating the sonic,s accurately but yeah this pedal is analogue great post & demo peace...
I had one of these for a bit. It was really disappointing. Reverb needed to be on max to get much atmosphere. The trem goes from really fast to super duper fast. Maybe it was broken...
I've been looking for a great trem for years, have several that suck. It has to sound like a brown face Princeton, may just get the Princeton 6g2 if the price is right.
As with some low-end spring reverbs with tiny tanks, this one too sounds jarringly harsh. Short decay, no subtlety whatsoever, annoying noise happening in the high end, to the point when a cheap digital replicating spring reverb might be less terrible.
A fine pedal like you said, but the reverb is too harsh for my liking. The tremolo is quite nice. Have you considered checking a Champion Leccy Skitter tremolo? That has some unique features that I'd like to investigate more.
It ain't bad as a real spring thing, but it hurts my ears at some points. Very harsh frequency's going on. Can't hold up to the Surfybear surfwise (is that even a word?😁) Not a pedal for me, even i'm a reverb and trem nerd. Right now i go for Surfybear and a Woodpecker trem.
As you said there's certainly merit with this pedal and a myriad of sounds to explore. However, overall it seems like it's missing some thickness. Wasn't sure if that was the sound of your guitar at first, but you seemed to mention likewise. Cheers!
Thanks for testing this. Seems like for a very similar price the Strymon Flint has it beat sonically. I know they arrive at their sounds completely differently but end result is all the matters with equipment.
Fantastic!

Is there a Bear Vs Whale shootout? There should be. Surf and Turf throwdown.
Finally someone who actually plays surf demoing this pedal! ;)
LOVE that Hallmark Swept Wing. SO cool. Getting me one soon!
Do it! One of my favorite guitars.
@@60CycleHumcast Done! Will get it today in the mail!!
How do you find all of your oddball guitars? They’re so cool!
Hallmark is a legendary surf brand. That guitar is sick.
Isn't Spaghetti Western music and Surf music close cousins in certain respects?
Absolutely.
You’re killing me. Now I gotta get this and a pale rider fuzz.
sounds more surfy than spaghetti to me

Based on this demo I'd say I prefer the Surfybear for the reverb. Adding the trem function is nice.
Love seeing that guitar get some screen time!
I’ve been trying to feature it more. I sincerely love it.
Now they need to make a fuzz-distortion dual pedal called "Holy Grail"

Damn, if they'd sell this in my country I'd definetely get one for some surfy lines!
Link Wray in a box.

Which do you like better the white whale or the Milkman f-stop?
F-stop
How do you like this in comparison to the Anasounds Element? @60cyclehum
This is why I love this channel! Always with fringe Guitars & gear! 🏆🎸
Absolutely! His personality too makes it great. I feel like I know him even though we've never met
That's actually a BLUE whale on the box!
Great video, thanks !

It has more of a plate reverb sound to it. Oh well.
I really don't understand the point of using a actual spring that doesn't get a drip sound. If that's the case people can just get a digital emulation pedal that's much smaller and I'm sure much more affordable.
That guitar is sick!! Like the white whale but man that guitar!!!
Without the drip it’s kinda lacking honestly

real Springs are analog
This thing was clearly designed to have both the tremolo and reverb on at all times.
do you like Tremolo Or Reverb more ?- YES
I had one of these for a bit. It was really disappointing. Reverb needed to be on max to get much atmosphere. The trem goes from really fast to super duper fast. Maybe it was broken...
"Ducks lined up"... 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆😆😅🤣😂
Is it just myself and I but Is it this the most drippiest pedal you have demoed ?
I've been looking for a great trem for years, have several that suck. It has to sound like a brown face Princeton, may just get the Princeton 6g2 if the price is right.

I feel like this needs more Harmonica....
Lofl
this would actually be an awesome harmonica pedal
@@60CycleHumcast yup

no drip, no buy
I hate coming on during a count in...
Shite Whale!
Pity about the verb
It ain't bad as a real spring thing, but it hurts my ears at some points.

From the can't afford a board
😂😂
So it's nearly £300...I wonder if a ocean's 11 and a dinner tremolo would get you there for nearly half that?
As you said there's certainly merit with this pedal and a myriad of sounds to explore. However, overall it seems like it's missing some thickness. Wasn't sure if that was the sound of your guitar at first, but you seemed to mention likewise.

I want to hear this pedal with a baritone or bass vi

Man that’s one ugly looking guitar
