I had a 85 Biarritz many years ago. LOVE the looks. 4100 Engine is way under powered for this size car (135HP) and nothing but trouble.

So this being an ‘84 4100 with the smooth valve covers, these are the ones to really treat with kid gloves. The real problem with these were bad porous block castings resulting in a propensity for oil to seep through the block into the water jackets and Vice versa. That’s why the coolant pellets are A MUST - they fill into the pores and keep the coolant and oil from mixing.
In ‘85 they get the finned valve covers and those are the ones - 1985-87 model years - that had all the kinks worked out of the casting.
Change that coolant!! Do a full overflow tank/radiator/engine block/heater core flush out with distilled water and then refill with green coolant and GM antifreeze pellets are A MUST on this engine.

Done at Renick Cadillac in Fullerton, California for $4,400. I bought it in May, 1987 at the Cadillac dealer in Tustin, CA. So my HT4100 lasted longer than others did! This generation of Cadillac Eldorado is my absolute favorite. Yes, the Fleetwood Broughams and DeVilles are wonderful, but the HT-4100 Eldorado Biarritz is at the top of the list for me. This was a very entertaining video, Anthony. Very well-edited, and the music was perfect. I was just in the Boston area last week, but didn't have time to drive out to NH and visit your shop or I would have. I am a Cadillac FANATIC. Have been since I was a young boy. The weather in New England was unseasonably warm, and perfect for tourists like me. It would have been a nice drive up there, shake your hand, and get my Cadillac fix in. Next time!

The MAP sensor usually goes out on these cars while they’re sitting for so long, so if you find yourself getting ruff idle and black smoke it’s the map sensor and not your iscm. I brought her back from the dead and have had her onthe road for 5 years now. Feel free asking me questions I’ve seen it all with this car.

A good tune up, ALL the fluids changed with sealant tabs added to the coolant and driven sensibly, you'd get MANY miles out of this baby. I know, cuz I had an '85 Fleetwood with that motor and although it frightened me terribly whenever I got in to drive, I mustered up enough courage eventually to push her on two road trips to Buffalo, NY from Huntsville, Al and she drove like a dream. By the way, 20 mpg's we're about my average cruising about 70mph. Screw those naysayers Ant, they'll change their tune once she's glistening👍🏽❤️

Hi Ant, HT4100 wow some said a pile of shit. Myself I think when they had those early camshaft problems they were brittle. And you replaced them the engine was fine. Sea foam the engine and fuel system so those injectors get the varnish off. Otherwise it’s a cool car first non factory convertible conversion since the 76 Eldo. Fix it and enjoy. That was pretty good considering its reputation. I didn't think it would run or run properly.

put a squirt of moonshine with transmission fluid in the spark plug holes and let it sit overnight. She'll fire right up and U won't have any broken rings.

Anthony that’s going to be a keeper!!! I was amazed that you got that car to run. It’s a rare convertible. Just like that matching coupe and 4door in the color Black Sapphire Blue. See I pay attention to your inventory. I just wish I had the cash 💵 to purchase the car. I really love your enthusiasm and of your father Papa 👴 Bear 🐻.

A beautiful car. I know I am odd but I would love a 1986 Eldorado or a 1986 coupe deville.

Very nice looking care you have a talent for finding great cars.
Looked like the original AC Delco air assist shocks. The air shocks are actually quite reasonable to use vs conversion aka coil-over rear shocks. On my 2003 deville it was $59.99 for a pair of monroe air shocks and $12.99 for a manual fill line kit. The kit can also often be used to fix original air lines if your compressor is still good. Cheaper than converting to new shocks with overload springs on them.

Hey got a 84 eldo 4.1 that blows black smoke once warmed up. Only code I get is for the isc motor. New computer, isc, tps, mass air temp was all replaced. Shop sent it back cause they couldn’t figure it out.
