    It's truly marvelous when we learn that all plants and animals evolved from fungi & we are all fungal beings.

    Are fungal infections of the skin also micorrhizal in natue?

    • @59degrees98
      @59degrees98  4 роки тому +1

      Pio Pajarillo hi, this is a really good question. Fungal skin infections are not mycorrhizal in nature, they are generally yeasts or similar species. Mycorrhizal fungi form symbiotic relationships, where as yeasts are saprotrophs meaning they break down dead organic matter (in the case of skin dwelling fungi, dead skin). Hope this helps!!

    I look over the landscape now with a completely different eye. Before I looked over fields cultivated fields and thought how lovely they were now I feel sad because of all the destruction that has taken place under the soil (what is left of it) and as your other commenter said this definitely should be taught in schools rather than French and German 🙄

    As a gardener here in the Pacific Northwest, I've learned quite a bit from this symbiosis. "Tilling rhymes with Killing". The path to success is following the idea of minimal disturbance, minimal work, minimal inputs other than compost, and a cover crop or organic cover to protect the 'exposed skin' of the ground. I love your work! Thank you so very very much!

    This is absolutely great! Thanks for sharing. I agree this likely was more common knowledge long ago and that we, in our modern, technologically complex world, have either forgotten or think we are too advanced. Turns out the mushrooms and mycelium are likely WAY more advanced and technologically important that our own World Wide Web. I would be very interested in learning about curriculum that investigates this for children, as they are our own conduit ("pipeline") to the future. I write curricula and if you are interested, would love to speak about this idea. Thanks again for all your awesome videos. I'll explore more of them!

    • @59degrees98

      Hi Josh, thanks so much for your lovely comment! So nice to hear! And yes, I agree that the mycelium web is definitely more adapted than our own. I've often dreamt about a curriculum that incorporates these subjects into mainstream learning. As you so eloquently put it, they are our pipeline to the future. My email address is octavia.tv@gmail.com if you'd like to discuss this further. Thanks again and all the best.

    Is it necessary to give mycorrhizal fungi to plant from external in garden or field

    • @cavaliercentretv7095
      @cavaliercentretv7095 4 роки тому +1

      Hi there, and thanks for your comment. In reply to your answer, most plants form some form of mycorrhizal association with fungi. Amongst other things, fungi help increase the rate at which plants can take up nutrients and water, and fungi can access parts of the soil that plants may not be able to. This means that fungi can greatly improve a plants success in life. If you have plants that are showing symptoms of poor health and there is a small amount of fungi in the soil, then adding mycorrhizal fungi to the soil may improve the plants health. However you also have to ask yourself why the fungi weren't in the soil to start with? Were the conditions unfavourable to beneficial fungi (compacted, waterlogged, drenched in pesticides, herbicides or fertiliser etc.), because if those conditions still prevail, then the fungi you add may not last long! Good luck with your gardening, and I'm happy to give more info if you need it! All the best, 59degrees!

    Hello... Octavia... How are you? What a lovely accent. Hopefully you able to visit here in New Zealand. mycorrhizae is really wonderful. I used it with my dragon fruit... My question is, is it possible to combine it with humic or fulvic acid? Cheers

    • @59degrees98
      @59degrees98  4 роки тому

      Hello! Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I have dreamt of visiting the lush land of New Zealand for years now. Maybe one day I can make it a reality! Yes, mycorrhizal fungi is excellent, and different types can be used depending on what your growing. I have never tried dragon fruit, although it looks like its packed with healthy benefits! Humic and fulvic acids are some of the components of the broad definition of humus and are very beneficial in the soil. They help add an extra level of structure to your soil that incorporates nutrient and water adsorption. There are Humic and Fulvic supplements that you can add to the soil, but I would always tend towards the natural method of adding organic matter. Biology + organic matter = humus! Hope that helps? All the best with your growing! Octavia

      @@59degrees98 hello octavia, many thanks your wonderful comment and information. I would lovely to tour you here after lockdown... Whats the best way to contact you? Dragon Fruit is one of the super fruit. Right now im doing some experiments by combining mychorizal, pgpr, kelp and humates with humic&fulvic acid. It going to winter right now here, but the plant thinking its just like a springtosummer and more defence against diseases. Hopefully we can communicate more :)

    hermoso trabajo! infinitamente agradecida por su aporte.
    cuando vivi en la cordilllera de los andes, con a comunidad mapuche local apredi lo importante de cuidar la tierra. Ellos no tenian palabras como ecologia, o compost.... sin embargo devolvian a suelo todo el material organico como una muestra de respeto y agradecimiento a la tierra. Es marvilloso que uds puedan darle un contenido cientifico a ese conocimiento ancestral que traen ciertas comunidades aborigenes.
