- What do trees talk about? In the Douglas fir forests of Canada, see how trees “talk” to each other by forming underground symbiotic relationships-called mycorrhizae-with fungi to relay stress signals and share resources with one another.

When I was a kid my grandfather use to say that, flowers, tree, everything in the universe communicates.
Well living things could but... how will everything communicate... like can my laundry talk with my cloths lol
That is true
Your Grandfather is correct, not talk per se using vocal cords, but more of a vibrational connection between all things.
It is verbalized in our prayers by the statement "all my relations" if you have heard before that is what is meant. Even the inanimate objects are made of "light . Don't believe me? Ask or research the studies being analyzed through and around the supecolliders. From what I have read, seen, and heard, (Hot Docs) from them about their documents regarding the studies. They have come to the conclusion that many things broken down to the subatomic levels are indeed made of light. Interesting topics to me, is it true? Read the research papers, watch the high-speed video recordings of the actual collisions. It will be a eye opening event for those of you who have not yet seen the footage. Where does this knowledge go from there? I do not know but at the very least, think about it, if only for a brief moment.
Please forgive my verbosity, sometimes I tend to ramble on about things that interest me.
lol yer granpa did acid.
Your grandfather is right. As I age I’m starting to realize everything in the world/universe is connected
Well shoot. I guess trees have better socializing skills than me.

I heard they speaks Vietnamese.
exactly what I was thinking m8
To sit under a tree in the shade of the branches and leaves. Watch wind blow the branches is pure heavenly. Fall asleep like a baby listening to the wind.
"The fact that we lack the language skills to communicate with nature does not impugn the concept that nature is intelligent; it speaks to the inadequacy of our skillset for communication."
-Paul Stamets
Well put, thank you! That's what I was trying to say earlier in my comment based on my experiences with trees. Most of mankind simply isn't developed enough yet to utilize other forms of communication
Eat some magic mushrooms or inhale some DMT and you will be fluent in the tree language in a span of 5 minutes.
Check out “The Secret Teachings of Plants” by Stephen Buhner. One of the best books I’ve ever read. Science based, easy reading book that explains how plants communicate with humans and how we can perceive that communication.
Heart and earth r connected i mean its the same word💚🔥
They were here before us, they'll be here after us.
I hope so... we are unimaginatively talented in (self)destruction -_-
I think it's more like they are going out with us with all these governments having dangerous earth destroying weapons under their fingertips, but in short term yeah they do stay for generations which is super amazing, all praise is to God.

Trees might be able to survive the current mass extinction that is being initiated right now, but many species of trees will go down when you consider how much they rely on other species...
not if you kill them all
If that is the case, why are they not on Mars? Mars had water you know its definitive proof it had.
Interesting study. It's more of a secret underground network of resource sharing where hub trees are the primary source of nourishment. More reasons not simply take down a few hundred/thousand year old trees. Thanks for sharing National Geographic.
I just found malaysian commenting here ;)
People kill 40+ million trees each day
A nice Fun Guy dammm
I wish more people would love trees the way I do. Trees love me, and I love the trees
@Thanny Stormtrooper they can sense energy and vibration..like animals in a way.
OK, this all means that forest owners can make more profit, when the *keep the largest parent trees alive and well,* so that they help young trees to grow and protect against pests.
so... keep one large tree while cut down other adult tree? i mean they need profit if we r talking forest owner... no?
Sugar.... aren’t you listening ? just pour lots of lots of bags of sugar on the ground that’s all it’s needs.
Hm no. You never noticed how slow they grow while shadowed.
If u gain profit from trees' produce, you dont cut down trees anyway. Unless they're dried. But yes having old trees helps and usually they're the healthiest.
It would also help keep the mycelium alive as well and allow it to gradually spread to the younger trees, allowing them to take in more nutrients.
Trees are so incredible. 🌳💚 Wishing you an amazing day x)
They truly are incredible! It's fascinating to see how they can communicate different types of messages to each other.

The natural world is a beautiful place! We need to take better care of it!!
When I went camping and was surrounded by many trees, I was in complete peace. I don't think us humans were supposed to live this high-tech modern-day lifestyle that draws us away from nature and more into our carnal pleasure.
Its funny how much of a cliché saying something like that is but it really is true and you don't really know it until you experience it.
@@AustinGDesigns Ted was right
"Supposed to" according to what? Seems vague and abstract.
Through mycorrhiza, trees and fungi work together to exchange water and nutrients, nurture seedlings, and even send warning signals when under threat. What are your thoughts on this unique form of communication?
Makes me respect mushrooms a lot more. I used to think they were just an ineradicable lawn weed leaving "fairy circles" and doing no good, but I guess they actually feed trees nutrients, and broadcast chemical arboreal response signals.
If the mycorrhiza are doing the connecting, then how are they "hub trees" and not "hub mycorrhiza"? Do mycorrhiza only grow as singular links connecting two trees without connecting to other mycorrhiza or other trees as shown in the diagram? If a tree dies, do the connected linking mycorrhiza die with it, as also depicted?
Me no thinky much
its not really communication is it.
@@steviegbcool How could we know? We don't speak their language.
Makes you think how if a continent is covered in a forest, then that continent is technically "alive" as one enormous single creature. Like how organisms are made up of many connected cells working together to live. Imagine if we could communicate from far far away just by touching a tree from different ends of the forest. A telephone but organic and not manmade
I love caressing trees and talking to them.
I went to the woods I always go to and the biggest and oldest tree twards the front fell over the root structure, and hole were huge, then I noticed the other trees around it had branches but more like tentacles reaching down from them cradling the biggest fallen tree. By far one of the coolest things I've ever seen in NATURE!!!
Whats really cool too is that now that the big tree has fallen, it allows a ton of light back into the woods and helps all the young trees that may have been sitting dormant for decades start to grow. this is why sometimes after an area is logged, with out seeding an area it can regenerate back into an albeit less healthy forest but a forest none the less.

Lesson to be learned: stop cutting old growth forests
Yeah, just wait until a lightning strike sets the under brush ablaze.
the council does not see profit in your suggestion
You're a moron, that's why California is burning.
The extent and intensity of California forest fires are a result of drought and fire suppression efforts (yes, you read that right)
Though, I see your point, if there's no forest then there can't be a fire
@@ExploringCabinsandMines
California and the west coast is burning because their old growth forests have been cut down. Old growth forests have higher canopies and more fire resistant bark which prevents brush fire from igniting the trees.

Communication goes way beyond the concepts of language and words. :)
Naturalist, author, and film maker Gene Stratton Porter wrote about trees talking to each other. So many years ago she grasped concepts being explored today.

If humans would learn to use money just as nature uses sugar as their currency, many problems would be solved right away.
MONEY( currency system ) is created by ELITE human beings , for ABSOLUTE CONTROL . There's NOTHING REAL behind MONEY . Elites created MONEY to gather the REAL RESOURCE in the REAL WORLD .
So humans will never learn from nature , to co-exist with others & prosper altogether The nature of ELITE humans is to enslave the whole world , including the nature & other humans.
@@ceciLOVEtaco Nuff said..
z3phyr among this crowd of commentators you've reached the best conclusion
@@ceciLOVEtaco ELITES do not interfere with human interactions among us, they're not part of our daily routines or how we talk to family and friends. We can practice what nature already does, thing is, people just won't give into sacrificing a bit of themselves for others. It's not Elites the problem, it's how far we'd go into individualism.

I live among humans as a normal girl, but I am an alien plant.
So true. ❤
there's some kind of electrochemical communication between the roots of the trees. Like the synapses between neurons. Each tree has ten to the fourth connections to the trees around it, and there are ten to the twelfth trees on Pandora...That's more connections than the human brain. You get it? It's a network - a global network. And the Na'vi can access it - they can upload and download data - memories - at sites like the one you just destroyed.
we call it the cloud. makes it a tad easier for nsa to access your data.

2:11 if they receive warning signals from another tree then what are they going to do? Hope that the one they're warning about will not notice you? Turn into a Treant?
Well, they can't run away I guess...
Some trees have natural defenses against native threats. The warning allows the trees to have their defenses ready before the threat arrives, giving them a better chance at survival.
Chemistry changes that can make the tree more resilient to attack.

Once any living cell be that of nature picks up the ability of communication to other living things is amazing.☺
Just more evidence that everything in nature was designed by a creator. This could not have been the result of a random accident. We know that something cannot come from nothing.
Of course, is foolishness to deny a Creator. The question is and always will be, who is the Creator? Everything we eat dies so we may live, our parents are our saviors and creators, the sun rises and sets....everything God made is to glorify His Son Jesus Christ.

So one of your longest youtube videos to show how the root systems exchange sugar and resources yet not one part explained how they 'spoke' nor in the almost example given of under duress.... SO in other words theory only passed off as truth... downvote.
RTStx1 I think you might have misunderstood the explanation. Speaking, aka communication, is any form of exchanging information. Just because they don't use human language doesn't mean they are not speaking to each other.
Its about communication.not about sharing secrets.
They “speak” by sending out chemical signals
yeah there's plenty of experiments that show this, like with corn, they can hear or pick up vibrations. when a Caterpillar is eating its leaves it starts releasing a chemical that attracts bees and other insects that will protect it. and even when you play this noise from you're phone or whatever the plant will react and start releasing it also, as in it can hear the noise and recognizes the threat.
there are other studies too were they will take 3 tree's put two bags over 2 of them and leave one exposed and spray it with harsh chemicals and the other two tree's will start sending it nutrients through the roots to try and help it.
pines do this in the winter also they provide nutrients for the tree's that lose there leaves and when they bloom in summer and shade out the pines they return the favor and help the pines.
plants are alot more interesting that you think.
OH NO! What will Vegans eat now?
mbogucki1 do vegans eat trees? U realize more plants are killed in animal ag bc of the exessive amounts of crops/feed that they must be fed+ the need of space to grow the hundreds and thousands of pounds of soy, wheat, corn, alfalfa, and oats specifically for the animals that we eat and use? This is why it is not uncommon for acres of forest to be chopped Down to make more room for the new crops. Over 75-80% of the Amazon rainforest is specifically for cattle ranching! Watch cowsparisy on Netflix or on UA-cam for free:)
Have a nice day
dirt
james dean the plants don’t feel pain. They are intelligent, react to stimuli, and they are aware just like your phone. Plus they have not central nervous system/brain and not nerves.
Anyways, more plants and trees are killed in animal ag due to the huge amounts of feed that is fed to the animals+deforestation!
