Lovely voice and love Dylan Thomas's poems.
It's magnificent really. Manly, deep, sonorous, lyrical.
It's as much fun listening to this as being slapped around the head with a cold fish caught 2 weeks ago.
Edit. I like Under Milk Wood when it is done well, with passion, care and talent. This version is cold and unfeeling.
I watched Under Milk Wood last night [BBC4TV] And my first reaction was King Charles would be a great narrator, he has the speaking voice made for the part, and here he is playing the part .Brilliant !
Good deal, he has a nice voice. 👏👏👏
You bet, he does have that authoritative voice...😊
Well done Sir, beautiful and you look so happy reading it. It touches the soul !
He’d always wanted to perform 🥸
King Charles ll has a lovely voice, I so enjoy his passion for poetry and story telling 👏👏👏👏
King Charles III

Oh! I would love to listen to his voice all day long… I do wish he would record the Bible… So many in the world listen to the Bible rather than read it, and we love the David Suchet version… But Prince Charles would be marvelous to read a few books. What a treasure.
What a beautiful reading. Thank you
Nicely done! 🇺🇸
Lovely
That was a brilliant joint voice over, and a wonderful story too.. I love this kind of reading. Thankyou to you all and Prince Charles. So nice Charles participated💝
Exquisite!
Job well done to the cast…thank you YRH…

How wonderful his voice is so relaxing I like him reading fern hill by Dylan Thomas I listen to his voice it helps me to relax and go to sleep
Well done Prince Charles.
Absolutely amazing!
Doesn't that just make you want to run outside and hug a tree? Don't laugh, it works for him, allegedly.
Where can I hear the whole performance?
The Future King 🤴
And may he bring down the Barony!
I thought we might have heard it rendered with Welsh accent.
Well done all. 👏
New Cymru Wales logo!
Must've had a map. Couldn't find Wales without one.
Best comment I've read for ages. I just might have to store this for future reference. Diolch 😊

I might be out of sync with everyone but I thought PC (or KC) was poor. No real rhythm to his speaking. He needed to get more familiar with the words. It was clear he was a bit unsure of his lines. Same with the woman - as if she'd never seen the words before.
Not out of sync at all. Thought it was dreadful. No IT IS dreadful.
Probably the finest voice Britain ever produced. Perfect for lyric verse! And to think it's the voice of a king!
It's dreadful. No feeling. Richard Burton today would still be better than this and he's been dead nearly 40 years. Richard Burton one of the best voices ever. Cysga'n dawl Mr Jenkins.
@@rhianwenj7597 Yes, I'm afraid I was able to comment but on the voice. It is true that the intention, interpretation, and sense of the poem are, indeed, quite wanting. And I must agree that Burton was probably the last great voice to be able to give us the proper sense of a poem...
@@MacKenziePoet hello. I'm very local to the area where Dylan Thomas was born and raised (Swansea), Richard Burton (Jenkins by birth), Pontrhydyfen, Neath born but raised in Port Talbot, the same town as Anthony Hopkins and Michael Sheen. My opinion but RB has the voice of a rich, fruity luscious red wine, that clings to the glass giving good "legs", his voice flows without effort. Michael Sheen is good but I felt the clip I saw needed a bit of effort, his Welsh pronunciation was good but not rich and mellow and strong. I'm a Welsh speaker as was RB, MS as far as I known does speak Welsh, he's good but.... Anthony Hopkins to my ear is weaker, he's OK but the hairs on the back of my neck stay flat. KCIII just lacks.... Emotion, feeling, atmosphere, doesn't create a picture in my head, just an old man reading a few words.
The best remark I've heard about UMW was "one of the best bits of Welsh poetry but written in the English language". I'm not a lover of literature, I'd rather do some hard Maths, but UMW to me is special, it also describes my home territory, I can put faces to the characters. Unknown at the time but I've a holiday lodge near the village where Llarregub is said to be based. What is great is sitting on a dark night looking out to sea listening to UMW. I swear those shadows come to life. You've made me want to go there gone 10pm and listen to it again, right now. I'll toast your health next week when I'm there.
There is a version of UMW that is translated into Welsh. Unfortunately RB passed long before.... Now that would be good, but the man a distinguished Welsh poet and I think he's too "respectable" to give the "edge"... Now I'm going hunting for a copy.
Sorry for my War & Peace, but UMW is very much a huge favourite. Sweet dreams

NOT QUITE COLIN MORGAN ❤️
But Okay 👍
Dylan Thomas drank himself to death at age 39 so I've always wanted to rewrite at least one of his poems. We beheaded the first King Charles. Just sayin.
He did drink a lot, but I always understood that they didn't test his blood at the hospital and the treatment send him into a low sugar comma.
Richard Burton and Dylan Thomas both heavy drinkers, very very heavy. Such a waste of two great talents 😢😢. But, they left a great piece of work with Under Milk Wood. I only wish I'd have heard Richard Burton perform Under Milk Wood in the Welsh translation.
Unbelievably cringe
Only nice thing about him is his voice, complete spoilt good for nothing.
its giving cu--
Why do we have to hear about these people keep it over there
poor you
Why don't you stay on your side of the Atlantic?!
"Dylan Thomas"? Never heard of her
😂
Guffaw,Guffaw.
This is the only 'work' he has ever done
The Prince of Wales served in the military for several years, didn't he? Thats more than many modern men have done. 🇺🇸
Ok, pumpkin.
There are several accounts opened years ago but only recently activated- a new troll coven???
Really? You all think that reading was something special because he's been a Waity-Katy for almost 75 years?? You people have never been to college coffee houses, or poetry readings, or your child's read- alouds, have you?
poor you
@@romainsavioz5466 Another toady falls in homage before the false shrine of a "royal" who wouldn't p*ss on you if your innards were on fire. POOR YOU!!!
Another silly hater pops up 🤬
You are so despondent, one merciless ming.
Ugh. Once we get Boris out, we then need to get rid of that lot too…
Better we make people identify themselves before posting on social media.
Huh? Why?
@@chibb73 so folk think a little more before posting?
Oh no, am I gonna get sent to the Tower for disrespecting the royal family? ha ha...
@@chibb73 sweeping generalisations- who is ‘we’ by the way. Vapid.
He is conceited and talentless. All these years of lousy speeches and recitals. Why not hire an acting couch that would teach you to read fluently with the right rhythm and timing. Never too late.
Listen to him give a speech in Cymraeg/Welsh. You could paint the Forth Bridge during some of the pauses.
