Driving on Staten Island may seem easy at first glance, but there are many different obstacles in your way. It is a delightful little spit of land that's sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and Lower Manhattan and considered one of the most affordable places to live in New York City. Despite its small size, it has diverse neighborhoods with culture, history, art, cuisine, shopping. It also has a hardy, rugged work ethic and humble spirit that involves the daily hustle to survive, to make ends meet. Everyone knows just about everyone else and takes care of each other - raising children, attending church, working together on community projects. When the tourists visit our little island, they're amazed by the rich history and diversity. They can't believe they've never heard of it before; that nothing is written about it in their guidebooks. So please make yourself a favor and visit this gem of New York City.

I drove across Staten Island, went over the Goethals Bridge…and kept going til I hit the Pacific. My happiest moment in life was seeing SI in the rear view mirror.
Yeah it looks nice out here in Staten Island, because we have self-respect. The rest of the city has gone to hell in a handbasket but Staten Island still feels like small town America to a degree. Only a half a million people here lol.
Statan Island has its own separate borough than the other NYC boroughs. It looks suburban.

Thanks Jim, Was strange seeing Staten Island again. I grew up there, The last part of your video when you were on South Ave, Well that was a shock to me. Back when I was a young man in my Late teens and early 20's that road was a deserted 2 lane road. We used to drag race out there. So to see it as a 4 lane and built up was a shock to me. I am 68 now I moved out of Staten Island 35 years ago. But it was great to see how it changed in those 35 years so a big thanks to you.

Is staten island good place to live??
I was born and raised here. I'm 59 years old and still live here. The best part about Staten Island is you are very close to all the action of NYC (a boat ride away) and you have all the action, but you get to go back to Staten Island for some calm. It's like a mix between Brooklyn and New Jersey.
I certainly like it here in Staten Island. We have half a million people here but compared to the rest of the city it still feels like a small town. Remember New York City has 8 million people in total.
No humanity in this. Just silence. And why the lower level of the bridge???
Maybe some dame can help you drive I mean if anything is wrong with your foot
