Enjoy your content. Why about a video how to be supportive of the song. How to find your place in an arrangement & stay out of the way of others. Tasty playing that requires musicality over chops. Thanks
Besides the content, it's the "Nate-isms" that entertain me - "Sweeps", "Windshield Wipers", and my personal favorite, the end of video whistle. Should trademark that one...👍
I do improvise just about every time I sit down. It's just a matter of time before I lose a stick. I'll keep going, but eventually the other stick hits the floor as well. Excellent lessons 👌
I just started practicing fills and solos, and I wrote a guide very much like your set on how you can practise different parts. And did things like “only snare”, or “groove in 4, fills in 3”, or “fills in 16s”, then add a tom and favour the tom surface. Etc etc, and it has quite quickly, and definitely within a week, massively improving my fills at gigs. Good lesson, Nate.
Great practice idea. I can so see how this will improve not only my solo skills, but drumming skills overall and flow in general. Thank you for the idea, I look forward to applying this later today on my kit. :-)
Nate love the content. Keep up the great work! I’ve been a fan for a while. I shared a few vids with my brother who was a working NYC bassist who immediately recognized you. He played with you a while back at a jam session.
Hah I guess I'm the exception. This month almost all of my practice time has been pure improvisation. That's been my main goal to get better at for the past few months. Great video as always though, keep em coming!
Would love to hear your perspective on training BJJ as a drummer. I used to train but a close call with a heel hook made me reevaluate my priorities. Things like finger arthritis from gi grips, knee and finger injuries scare me. But I miss training a shit load.

You are a stud 80/20! Thanks for making it easy to understand!!!
Reminds me of Guiliana’s DROP method

Love the dotted 8th thing! And I dug it before you mentioned it, which kinda makes me proud. Learnig a lot from you.

Great lesson man !! Thanks a bunch !
Awesome video! Interesting take on how to support your improv skills.
So the key to advancing or developing a vocabulary is to work with restriction? Great video as always keep it up
Nailed it! Limiting one’s self’s of resources makes one more resourceful.
"less is more" as they always say.
Love the vids as always
I think it’d be cool if you posted short videos of just you playing, I always wanna hear you just play mote

Do you go into “sweeps & windshields” in another video?
All I do is practice soloing! My solos still suck, so it’s a bit of an existential crisis…
Try this then 👆👆😜

The bass drum pattern is the shit. The motion it produces with very little effort. Enjoyed that…..
Have you ever farted while playing a drum solo?
Hard to think of the last solo where that didn’t happen
Drum solos were originally invented to hide really long farts. That’s where the term flow comes from.
How about a video of you playing music with others. That’s the point of all this to play the music not the drums..
