I am an Accountant so I too love the math of knitting. Also, I think knitting is the best healing tool when life throws you curve balls. Best of luck! I will keep following you!

Binding off my first porcelain sweater sleeve while watching this video 😄 i actually didn't have a lot of difficulty with it because i decided to just do my own thing and only use the charts. I am MAJORLY off gauge (like i'm working with 17ish stitches?) so i had to do a lot of math anyways - i ended up using the stitch counts for the smallest size which with my gauge should get me to an oversized M/L fit. One gripe i do have with the pattern however is the way that the upper back edge and its increases are worked. Like, increasing by backwards loop casting on 7ish stitches at a time? That is the work of a sociopath I fear, not only do i find the thought itself fully unhinged, it's also giving weird lumps and bumps along the edge because obviously doing a backwards loop cast on at the end of a row is going to give you little corners from where the rows below end. Other than that, i have not much to complain about except maybe that the chart for the leaf pattern (though very beautiful) is so annoying to memorize for me personally because it's not geometric. But i also do plan on ranting about this sweater in my podcast later today, i feel like this pattern is only successful because it's very very beautiful and not because it's well-written or well-constructed.

@@evasknittingpodcast I saw that you reworked the whole sweater and leveraged the charts…and I think I’m going to do that too. It’s disappointing the construction and the sizing is so lacking! I think that the designer is a small or XS and is wearing a large in the photo which is a big reason why the expecting fit feels so misleading. I’ll be sure to watch your porcelain sweater rant when I get the chance - unfortunately I’m glad that I’m not alone in feeling like I’m failing at this pattern

i found your instagram by chance in may and am so glad i did! i went through some pretty crazy things this past fall and found myself knitting a lot as a result(sounds similar to your early 2024 experience). i can't wait to see what you make in 2025, i have my eye on making the eclipse of moths sweater and love your color scheme for it!

@@createdbypalindrome and I’m so glad that you did!! Knitting really is therapy because when you can’t do anything else, at least your hands can be busy and you’ll have a sweater at the end of it! Excited to see your Eclipse of Moths sweater ❤️

i knit the porcelaine sweater and it was i think my first colorwork sweater. I didnt mind the process that much i just added some purls inbetween the colorwork sections on the body bc i didnt like jsut doing stockinette (too impatient). I knit it with a superwash merino and a thinner mohair than reccomended. Idk i liked it and its one of my absolute favorite sweaters I've knit it came out beautifully :)

@@m.h2557 that is awesome! Did you use a fingering weight base? I feel like I need to just hold a heavier yarn for mine to work. It’s a beautiful pattern, I definitely want to make it!!

Porcelain sweater is awful. I’m on the sleeves now but they’re so short. I went down a size bc I wanted it to be more fitted but now the sleeves are at my elbows where the ribbing is supposed to start so it’s in jail rn. Honestly may reknit with a different drop shoulder pattern and just use the same colorwork

Did you block it already? And what did your swatch do when you blocked it?
I'm doing the sleeves now and it's matching with the body pattern rows for the most part. I know when I block it, it'll stretch out more. Also, what's your gauge? Also #2, what's your circumference? And what size did you pick? You're supposed to pick the size that's 6-10in over your circumference for the type of fit she has.
To Fiona, my circumference is 42-44in. I went up to a L with a gauge that would take it to roughly 51in in circumference.
