Love the look of knit stitches but only crochet? These socks use unique crochet stitches to mimic the knit and purl stitches. It also creates a flexible and comfortable fabric.
For this pattern, using fingering weight yarn really lets this stitch show off its definition with an amazing drape.

Most socks sold at stores usually stop at women's shoe size 10. So as a girl with a size 11 foot, I can't wait to try this pattern.
I'm a 13 😭 she's a life saver🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Truth!!! Can’t wait!
I'm a 13 as well! Thanks for making a really flexible pattern!
Girl same when I made this sock I felt so weird bc idk if the sock was supposed to be right or not since I’m size 11 and my feet are quite wide
Me,too size 11-12 EEEE I Have to buy men's extra wide sneakers
I put "how to crochet a sock" into all my search engines a month ago and this never got reccomended! Grrrrr! This is a wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much!!!!!
7:46 Ha! Honestly I've been doing split single crochets without even realizing they're different from regular singles, never thought wanting to learn how to make socks would teach me so much about regular crochet as well lol
Best sock tutorial I've seen so far. Instructions are understable. Every step was shown very clearly. Thank you. Greetings from Poland.
Currently working on this and I’m in love. I was able to easily tweak it for the best fit. Now I’m buying tons of sock yarn. Lol
Yay for sock weight yarn and crochet!
I literally can not tell you how happy I am for this tutorial, I didn’t know what a split single crochet was and I thought it’s was to hard but once I tried it I actually liked, I love that this pattern is customizable too, thank you so much ❤️
Just stumbled upon your channel. Love the look of these socks! I've been getting many requests for crochet footies lately from women in my daughter's age range. (late 20s-late 30s) I am finishing a set now, and I want to stop so I can start this one lol Thanks for a great tutorial :) Happy hooking!
Love the candy cane nails
27:06 Heel explanation
28:49 Cuff
31:34 Heel
For my own reference.
Tulip hooks are amaxng, I love my grey ones.
Almost finished my first sock! I want to learn to knit them but needed to try a pair with crochet to understand to construction and I love it! I can totally see modifying this to the ssc on the bottom and playing with different stitches on the top. How fun. So much easier than the 8 hours I spent trying to knit my first sock.
If anyone else is wondering how to decrease in the main pattern (split sc, scblo, split sc): I did that by pullig up a loop in the split single crochet, then pulling up a loop in the next sc blo, then pulling up a loop in the following split single crochet, and then pulling the yarn through all loops! So basically making 3 stitches into one. It will look the reverse of the increase Briana shows here, so it looks fine.
Thank you. Considering these for my next project and saving for my project notes.
This is a brilliant sock pattern. I have been looking a long time for a crochet pattern like this which suits my skills and tools to date. Thanks!
I am so excited I found your channel.. better late than never!! Finally some socks I can make that fit perfectly ..
I appreciate your teaching style and ideas ... God bless
I am SO impressed with this sock, it doesnt even look like crochet!
Thanks so much
You did such a great job explaining this! I’m getting up my courage to try!
Super well explained . I’ve always been intimidated by socks, now I will give it a try ❤
I love these hooks I have a whole set of Reds, also the pink and the etimo set, but the reds are the favorite for socks for sure.
I love the look and fit of this sock.
I would like to thank you for this beautiful pattern. 💗💗
This 8z the best pattern/ materials, etc. for selling socks. Thanx
I have a pair of knitted socks in Stroll and they are my favorite pair the yarn is so soft
Wow! I had no idea that crochet in the round could look like this with a regular crochet needle! I thought that for ribbed crochet you had to work it flat and sew it up, or also I've seen this weird double-ended crochet called 'Tunisian crochet' around that seems really complicated.
I'm so happy with this because I really have wanted ribbed knee high stockings that are shaped at the calf and not just a tube, and I really prefer crochet to knitting because of the anxiety that all of my stitches would slip off of the needles and I wouldn't be able to try on the project as I go.
Thank you 💕💕
Looking forward to trying these! Thank you! 😊
This is just so satisfying, cozy, and aesthetic. And your NAILS are making me feel SO HAPPY (totally unbothered whome watching in late April lol)!
Just subscribed, and I think I'll give these a try. Thanks again Briana!
Fawn 🩷
Love it , love it. It goes to my knitting list ☺️
Thank you so much, can’t wait to try it 👩🏽🦳
Very pretty color & yarn!
Thanks a lot for such excellent tips!!
I’m going to do this with angora! Bunny bed socks!
I can't wait tell my yarn comes in to work this pattern.
Was struggling to make this fitting for a person with a rather big heelbone. I ended up starting the cuff after a few rows above the heel and making it very long. That way, the sideways stretchy fabric made sure the heel could fit through, and at the same time the sock fitting snugly to the leg. :)
I am crocheting this pattern now and I’m at the part of establishing the stitch pattern after row 10. I’ve been working the rounds but I don’t feel any stretch in my sock so far. It seems more like a bowl honestly. My tension was loose so I’m not sure why it’s not loose and stretchy. What should I do?
My next project for sure! 🤩 BTW, Love your nails!
Yay! Thank you!
I'm almost done with one sock. Working on the heel. This is for my husband and I customized it to his foot with high arches. So far he is loving the special attention. LOL. One note, if you don't mind... I purchased the pattern and it is so different from your style of writing and printing. The photos are also very small and I needed to view the video in order to follow along just right. I just find it so different from what I'm used to with your patterns. Just an observation. Note: I purchased the Cozy Collection bundle, not just the sock pattern. Maybe that is the difference.
Thanks for the feedback, I do format my patterns the same as others when doing a collection, however I still have this pattern in my format for my shop. Send me a message through email, referencing this comment, and I can get you the formatting I use.
@@BrianaK Thank you! But don't worry. I'm almost done with sock #2.
Awesome thank you 🌻😊🌹
Gracias 😊... Uno de los vídeos más completos y bonitos 🧦
What if I just don't do the split stiches? How much will that change my sock?
As I watch this I'm knitting a sock. I always take notes and measurements on the first sock.I wish you could zoom in a little bit to make it easier to see what stitches you are going into..great tutorial tho and I am going to try this for sure..😊🧶
Hi! I’m working on my first sock using this pattern and was wondering how you would go about decreasing? I have found it to be very loose around my ankle and need to decrease a bit to make it fit better. Thank you!
Have a question ❓ you discuss working "increases" a lot but what about the decreases around the ankle then increasing to the calf all while trying to keep the same est. Pattern?
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Just made these.
Love the stitch pattern. Not a fan of the rib so did fpdc and bpdc for top of sock
You're an amazing instructor. I haven't even put a crochet hook in my hand yet but have been watching how to do simple stitches, etc and I was able to follow you all the way through. I'd like this pattern but I'm old...so what is a blog? 😊
Beautiful and your nails as well ❤. Was having a hard time focusing because those nails are really pretty. 😊
If I can nail down stretching the leg of the crochet stitch so the stitch won't be too tight :) lol, these will be great. Thanks for the tip! Very creative design and I love how the increases look.
Yes you can! This is a flexible pattern where increase and decreases can be easily added :)
This is so great! Just a question. I’m on row 22 (it looks very impressive by the way), but it’s pretty loose. I want to decrease to get some negative ease, but how do I do this in pattern? I anxiously look forward to your advice. In the meantime, I’ll start the second sock 😎 Thank you in advance.
Thank you very much :)
Hi. Great video, your instructions sound great. Can't wait to start. But I'd like to make them to the knee and you said you had an over the knee video. But I can't find it. Could you please help me? Thank You.
Good work
After row 9 my circle has a diameter of 8 cm. Do you think that's correct? Thank you!
Actually I think the nylon is in socks purely for durability as wool itself is what stretches being a natural fibre.
Yep! You can also use a yarn with added mohair or silk tho, if you want to use purely natural fibers
I'm confused about the gauge. It is said to be measured in established stitch pattern. What does that mean?
I hope this works with cotton. I'm allergic to wool and can't stand synthetics.
Cotton might not have enough stretch, make a gauge swatch and see how it looks with the yarn you want to chose.
Kannst du die anderen Socken auch machen die über die Knie gehen .
I just found your channel I love these socks but I have a question can I use a number 3 size yarn for this project.
so cute! I am not having issues with excuting the stitch. I'm having trouble finding the stitch and getting the count correct.
I find using a stitch marker at the beginning of every round really helps. And it's okay to change the stitch count for fit, it will still work out for the heel even if your stitch count is different than the example one in the pattern.
Can you recommend any other yarn to use?
Love this pattern so far. I'm planning on making the over the knee sock. I was wondering would it be wise to finish the the heel before you move on to the calf?
I think stressless crochet is important, so if you would like to check the heel before moving on then go for it :)
Thank you so much!! I recently find out your channel and page and it's helping a lot in my crochet learning journey!! I LOVE It. I was struggling trying to make my first pair of socks but this tutorial was very well explained and i find it easy to follow along, even though english is not my first languaje✨.
But i did have a little problem😅 my sock turn out way larger than yours idk why. I crocheted the same number of rounds and my crochet hook is also 3,5mm. What could i have done wrong?
are they 'chill' socks or actual wear socks? I've always wondered if the stitches will make it uncomfortable since its not flat-flat
This pattern is wear socks. I've worked with a stich that isn't thick and more flexible :)
does this work with other sized yarn?
I like making my own sock bigger...I am a woman with a size 14_ men's foot
It looks amazing. With what yarn can I replace the wool. I live in South Africa 🇿🇦 and I think wool is going to be to warm
Actually, wool socks are good for warm and cold. I knit socks. Just make sure you use sock weight. (Weight 1). The best is a 75% wool 25% nylon blend. :)
I know this is old, but I'll still add this: if you don't want them as thick, you could do regular sc for the toe, and regular sc (or flo) / blo for the rest. That can remove some of the thickness, and allow for slightly more stretch. They will look a bit different.
But, if you want really thin, stretchy socks, like ones you can buy, you will have to do knitting, instead. I hate knitting, but it is better for socks, in a lot of ways. 😕 Less material use per sock, more stretch, and more even, thin coverage.
Is there a written pattern ? I didn't see it on the blog. Absolutely love these socks trying to make them now.
The pattern is coming soon to the blog, January 17th. Right now we have this as part of the Cozy Crochet Along, the e-book is on sale now with two other patterns: www.hanjancrochet.com/classic-crochet-cozy-collection/
@@BrianaK thank you my socks are coming along great. I just love the pattern. I also just finished 2 spruce stockings..thanks for great designs!
I don't know crochet terminology nor can I read the hieroglyphs that is a pattern. While I appreciate you talking about how to increase and decrease. I really wish you could've shown an example of the stitches for it.
I’ve just started this pattern, which I love btw, but after round ten mine seems to just keep going out and looks massive - don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if you can help?
The first rounds will increase like a circle, and then after that it will become like tube sock shape
es una pena pero no veo nada la cámara enfoca sobre un lado
Just wanted to mention that on the written pattern row 8 doesn't say such. It is says sc.. thank you love your tutorial.
Oh thank you! I've updated that on the blog and working to update the pdf
You are saying, "split single crochet". I have not heard that crochet vocabulary. I can't see what you are doing when you say split single crochet that is different from single crochet. Can you explain that to me?
Yes, it is different than a regular single crochet because of how it's worked, check out this post: brianakdesigns.com/split-stitch-mania/
Not that my project looks bad but I’m supposed to have 24 stitches at this row but I have like 40 so I’m obviously doing something wrong lol. I’m like brand new to this tho..
don’t start with socks😬
🙂🙂🙂🙂
i want for baby 1 year
How is this abeginner level if y dont show how to make the heel😭
I don’t care how many videos I watch- I will never understand the split single crochet. I just don’t get it 😢
It is easier than it sounds/looks. With a single crochet, you insert the hook under the next stitch. Notice that each stitch is like the letter V that is comprised of two legs. To make a split single crochet, insert the hook into the leg farther away from you and work as normal. The only difference between an SC and SSC is where you insert your hook.
I watched the video on the crochet crowd Michael explained it as a torso and legs normally we go into the torso at the top but we need to go between the legs instead… that made it clearer to me xx
You lost me at single stitch crochet 🥺
Never, never have stripes on your fingernails that confuses with your yarn :-/
