My GE frontload washer manual says to dump a cup of bleach in the tub then run clean cycle. It works very well. Though I tend to run clothes with Oxiclean lately so I don't really need the clean cycle much.
Great video but what about behind the gasket where you have to pull the rubber back slightly to get it wiped down. I just saw some slimy grayish film and I dry mine after each load…
Neither did I until brown marks started appearing on our laundry. I looked it up and found out about the tub clean cycle. It helped a little but the grime built up so much over the years. See this video...ua-cam.com/video/uNDysFwa8q0/v-deo.html I tried different cleaning tablets and other remedies but nothing would remove the grime. I finally tore open the unit for a deep cleaning...ua-cam.com/video/6dBtoAjvFkY/v-deo.html I hope your front load drum isn't as dirty as ours was. 😎
@@HacksbyDad hi again, I cleaned our filter but no water came out of the hose but a lot came when I removed filter - could it be blocked? I will also watch the other videos to learn more! Thank you so much!
If your machine won't drain try blowing hard into the drain hose. Mine came free and saved me from having to take the machine apart to clean it, replace the pump or calling a guy out
I need to clean out those 3 holes in the gasket that's full of lint well into the drum area. Without disassembly, if possible. I've used tweezers to try to grab the lint but there's way more than I can reach. Any advice?
I buy white vinegar by the gallon just fill up the bleach or softener dispenser with each and every load, takes the hardness out of the water you won't even need fabric softener anymore and it keeps all the pipes and the machines squeaky clean from soap buildup..Best thing you can do. Also put a cup of it in the dishwater standing up on bottom rack. Spot fee dishes, clean pipes and tub... if you do all of this first with each and every load there will be nothing to clean later
Okay, when using baking vinegar you want to let it sit on the spots you want cleaned (do not spray it on metal), then after 5 minutes or so add the baking soda and scrub. Adding baking soda immediately defeats the purpose of using vinegar as baking soda neutralizes the vinegar.
Thanks for watching the video! The manual for the LG WM2501HVA recommends to use a washing machine cleaner. Love your work, brother. I use vinegar and bicarb soda every wash. So, there is almost zero build up of slime, and grime. But, let me tell ya, I got this LG front loader cheap, but hell, did it take some cleaning. I don't think it had be touched in the eight years since it was bought. It had to be seen to be believed. Anyway, the bicarb & vinegar thing is the way to go.
LOL... I'm guilty of neglecting our front loader. I found out too late that it had to be regularly cleaned and completely tore it down for a deep cleaning. Here's the video of the teardown... ua-cam.com/video/6dBtoAjvFkY/v-deo.html 😎
Vinegar is acid and baking soda is base/alkaline. If you mix them, theyll cancel each other out and make something new instead (salt and carbon dioxide gas), a no no for what you want to achieve. Instead, use each product one by one, and water wash in between to avoid undesirable reaction when using the next product.
I looked in my manual and it only stated press TUB CLEAN. It stated nothing about three seconds, this washer is 11 years old the display does not show the entire characters. It still works fine, but the mold has always been a problem and I was fanatical about cleaning the excess off of the boot and leaving the door open. Emptying the detergent dispensers and leaving them out to allow morev ventilation. I have tried to figure out a way to keep the door ajar enough to give proper ventilation, but nothing yet. The open door is sometimes a nuisance. Thank you for the video, iit really helped.
When I start to unscrew the drain filter water comes pouring out! No water came out of the drain hose. On my model these two things are at the very floor level so I can’t put a bucket under them. Is that part of the problem? Do you have any recommendations?
My washer was raised up on a pedestal. Without a pedestal, you’ll need to place a flat pan of some sort on the floor to capture the water. Or maybe a large towel. 😎
If no water comes out of the drain hose, its likely that sediment has compacted in the rubber line. Start at the end with the cap removed and squeeze up the line. You can feel where the blockage begins and ends. Use your fingers to massage and work the line from one end to the other. You'll eventually loosen it up and it will flow. Then you can remove the filter.
You’re welcome. Please check your owner’s manual for the recommended cleaning instructions. If you don’t have the manual, you should be able to find it online. 😎
Excellent video I love it it’s have been done in a professional way very straight forward. Question have you ever cleaned the inlet filters located in the back panels where the hoses are ?
Thanks! I did inspect the inlet filters a couple of times when doing repairs. The filters were clean both times so I didn’t need to clean them. Area water quality will have a lot to do with this. 😎
